I purchased the Global knives approximately a year ago, and I never ever put them in the dishwasher. I always make sure that I dry them thoroughly after each washing, but they have started developing rust spots on the blades. I know several other people that own them, and they have told me the same thing. Would not purchase again..
I am very happy with my global Santoku 5 inch knife – it is excellent quality and just the right size. It is the knife that I will always reach for when I am cooking dinner. I had one other good knife and we were always needing to use it at the same time so I bought this one and I am very happy with it. Plus, the Sur La Table customer service was excellent - the price was good and the free shipping was a nice bonus.
This was one of my favorite knives that went missing, sadly. I missed it so much that I had to repurchase it. When you don't feel like always pulling out a large knife, this size does the job. I love the size, the weight and ease of use. It glides through your food effortlessly. Bonus, sale price! I feel complete again with this knife back in my collection. :)
Perfect size knife for smaller jobs. Feels substantial in your hand. Cuts smoothly & easily. It is a great addition to my knife rack, which also houses a number of good quality knives. It is my first Global knife but won't be my last. I have just purchased two more for Christmas gifts.
Have just replaced my favourite Global knife (it’s predecessor bit the dust after my teenager was trying out a bit of over enthusiastic ‘cheffy’ chopping). I can honestly say I love this knife! It’s the perfect size so it’s really versatile - I use it for chopping veg, slicing small loaves, carving meat etc. Is a perfect fit in my palm and is sharp as Billy-O as you would expect. Would highly recommend - just make sure you check the size. It’s sized between a paring knife and a carving knife.
This is the best knife I have ever had! It is a great size for my hand and a perfect weight. I never liked mincing veggies, garlic, etc but this makes it super easy. Between this and my paring knife, I never need another knife again!! I’ve given away expensive knives that just haven’t worked for me. Now I’m super happy!
I think Global knives are the best I've ever used. I've always purchased expensive knives, but these surpass any that I have used. The 5 inch Hollow is excellent for meat!
