Before Sephora took on Glossier products, I had been purchasing the balms (always the birthday flavor) so I am VERY familiar with the scent, consistency and taste. This is my first time purchasing Glossier balm through Sephora and it will be the last unless certain things are addressed and changed. First thing I noticed right away was the taste and consistency quality has completely changed. The birthday flavor always packed way more of a perfect yummy flavor with tiny tiny bits of "sparkle" that lasted a decent amount of time. Now it barely has a flavor and the consistency quality is awful, now Glossier is just another lip balm/gloss which is so unfortunate because they had the PERFECT balm I've ever used in twenty years. Lastly is the upped price by two bucks, which is significant when you're buying lip balm. If anyone is like me, that used to purchase directly from Glossier, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Needless to say, I'm not happy and will not be purchasing Glossier again.

This lip balm is a game-changer – it's so hydrating and moisturizing, but without leaving a greasy film on your lips. It sinks in quickly and makes a noticeable difference in the appearance of my lips, leaving them softer and smoother. Another thing I love about this lip balm is the wide range of flavors and scents. There are nine different flavors to choose from, and each one is delicious and unique. I'm actually obsessed with the Birthday Cake flavor – it's like a little piece of cake in your pocket! It literally tastes like you're biting into a piece of cake – how cool is that? But if you're not a sweets fanatic, not to worry – there's a flavor for everyone! And the best part about this lip balm? It's so affordable! At just $12 a tube, it's a no-brainer for anyone looking to upgrade their lip routine. It's the perfect product for anyone who wants to treat themselves to a bit of self-care without breaking their budget. Another thing I really love about this lip balm is its long-lasting power. I can't tell you how many times I've used this lip balm and gone on with my day, only to be surprised by how hydrated my lips feel hours later. It's an absolute game-changer, especially for those of us with chapped lips in the winter! The versatility of this lip balm makes it a perfect all-in-one product for your lips. You can use it solo on your lips for a subtle sheen or layer it on top of your favorite lipstick for extra hydration and a glossy finish. It's perfect for both daytime and nighttime makeup looks, making it an essential addition to any makeup kit. Whether you love to experiment with bold lip colors or stick to a simple nude lip, this balm has you covered with its nine different flavors and fragrances. Overall, this lip balm is a true gem in my beauty routine, and I can't recommend it enough. It's a must-have for anyone who loves a gorgeous, healthy-looking lip, and it's definitely worth the hype!

Regardless, the older version is not available so it doesn’t really matter and do as you wish with this information. Hopefully it was helpful!

In order: Rose, Birthday, Swiss Miss, Mango, Berry, Mint, Cherry. I have a bit of an obsession with the original Glossier. Don’t get me wrong, the new ones aren’t bad, but compared to the old ones they just can’t compare. So thick and moisturizing! When I put it on at night I can still feel it in the morning (and I tend to be a mouth breather, so that’s a feat no other lip balm has accomplished). The only annoying bit is the separation where some oil comes to the top, but that’s only a big problem with a few, namely Birthday Cake and Berry. My personal favorites are Rose and Mango, as I feel they separate the least and have a thicker consistency with great scents! However, the new formulation isn’t all bad. It’s definitely more lightweight, with an oily moisture as opposed to Vaseline-like moisture from the petrolatum. The packaging is cute, if a little messy, and the scents and colors are still great! With the price increase though, I’d say there’s better for your money

I recently purchased the Coconut balm dot com form the glossier pop up in Chicago and was immediately smitten. It tastes and smells amazing and has incredible staying power. Really kept my lips feeling moisturized. I realized I would lick my lips or purse them two hours after putting it on and they would still be balmy and tropical (as long as a I hadn't eaten or been attacked with kisses from my dog or husband LOL). I also love rubbing the extra that is on my finger after applying into my cuticles. Sadly, my dog ALSO thought it tasted and smelled amazing so he ate the tube about a week after I bought it so I ordered this set of three with a Coconut and Mint for me and another Coconut for a friend. I love love love the mint as well. I am a huge fan of Burt's Bees but often find that it just sits on top of my lips in this waxy film and doesn't actually do anything to moisturize and get under my skin BUT I love the cool tingling of the peppermint so I would keep using it to soothe my chapped lips. The mint balm dot com changed that for me. WOW. Game changer. I get that cooling sensation, and it tastes sweeter and better than BUrt's Bees and is way more moisturizing. I am a huge lip balm fiend and have easily taken the place of my other go-to's. Also the packaging is honestly the cutest ever (the colors!!!!) and is super versatile and practical. I don't like the little Vaseline lip pots that you have to stick your finger in. This seems much more sanitary and easier to control the amount you use.

Let me just tell you this is an amazing product that you should definitely consider adding to your next Sephora cart! 🥭🌸 First of all, this lip balm is incredibly moisturizing. It contains a blend of nourishing ingredients like castor oil, beeswax, and lanolin that work together to deeply hydrate your lips. My lips get chapped super easily and once I started using this my lips would stay soft for longer periods of time without reapplying. But the thing that really sets apart this lip balm is its delightful mango scent. 🥭 It's like a tropical vacation in one small container! The refreshing smell automatically uplifts your mood and adds a touch of fruity goodness to your day. Also, the scent is not overpowering, making it perfect for everyday use. I am very picky with my chapsticks lip products and I hate it when my lips feel too sticky, or to oily. The balm dot com is a perfect consistency and texture where is can where it without feeling the need to wipe it off. The last thing I love about this lip balm is the stunning packaging. Like who wouldn’t want it just for the gorgeous layout of the box and product. 🌸🥭

Not worth it

I thought people were just being dramatic when they were talking about this new formula, but unfortunately, I have to agree. I just don't find it moisturizing, and I find it dries out my lips after about 30 mins. The old formula felt quite thick, like a vaseline, but this new one is much thinner and slippery? I don't really know how to describe it but it's just a thin balm now.I was really excited about the applicator though. It just makes sense to have an applicator, although it's not the best because the hole is massive and it feels like it will hold a lot of bacteria since the product slips right back in. Also whenever I take the cap off, the product is a bit messy around the hole.I have both mint and fig in this new formula, and mint is okay other than it ... MoreI thought people were just being dramatic when they were talking about this new formula, but unfortunately, I have to agree. I'm actually not really a fan of fig though, it's just not a nice colour for my skin tone. I thought it would be similar to the cherry colour but it's not. I love the packaging and the smell though, just not how it looks on me.Honestly, there are other products out there. I think a lot of us bought glossier due to aesthetics. When the formula was good, I didn't mind spending $15 CAD, but now it is $18 CAD and I just don't find it to be worth it anymore.

The formula change is worse than my last breakup
22 April 2023

The formula change broke my heart worse than my ex boyfriend. BDC was my holy grail, the only thing that kept my already dry lips moisturized in the super dry state where I live. I could put it on at the beginning of the day and reapply maybe once and not have a single problem. Because I had to use it so infrequently it also lasted forever, I just used up a tube I bought literally 5 years ago. Glossier should have paid me for how hard I pitched them to everyone, and BDC was the reason why. The new formula is one of the worst lip balms I have. I did a massive Glossier haul a few weeks ago and got every flavor, and I could literally cry at how bad they are. My lips feel dry and chapped the second I put it on, they peel within an hour like I’ve been licking them all ... MoreThe formula change broke my heart worse than my ex boyfriend. The website is literally just lying about how good it is, hides negative reviews, and won’t allow you to post new ones. I know that’s pretty standard when you’re trying to sell something, but I used to love Glossier because it was good without the schill. Now I just feel totally betrayed. I’m going to use up what I have because I threw away the boxes and it’s just not worth it to try and make a return, but this sucks. Dear Glossier, this hurt worse than finding out my ex was cheating. xoxo, a Glossier exvangelical

some big improvements AND downgrades

I’ve owned quite a few of these in the old formula, and I had the original fig and loved it. The new formula is much thinner and more greasy-feeling than the original. Once heated up on the lips, it’s much more like a lip oil and less of an occlusive balm. Taking the petrolatum out is great because it doesn’t give my lips a gross coated feeling that leaves them feeling drier the next day, but taking the lanolin out really ruined what made this product special. It doesn’t stay put, it slides around my lips, I could wear the old formula under a mask but this would be an mess. The new fig color also seems cooler than the original, but it’s very pretty and natural- perfect thing to just look more alive in a zoom call. The flavor is the same, and the new packaging is an obvious upgrade. My biggest complaint with the old formula is that it separates and leaks oil within a month or two of purchase so I’m curious to see if this stays emulsified better. I honestly hope they reformulate this again and consider foregoing the vegan stamp and adding the lanolin back. Since Bite went vegan and ruined their lip mask this has been the next best thing.
