Best Foundation I’ve Used in My Whole Life

Good but not great

I have dry skin. For reference, my favorite foundation is Haus Labs. This foundation does feel lightweight once on, and is creamy and easy to apply with a dampened sponge. I also set the foundation with my go-to Maybelline loose setting powder. It lasts all day without breaking apart, even in my T-zone. However, I noticed that it did collect in the creases of the sides of my nostrils. It also looked slightly dry in my drier area (forehead) and overall not even the slightest oil was detectable despite sweating. It appears very smooth where my skin is nearly untextured but where I have pores (and I have small, pretty much undetectable pores) this foundation made them slightly noticable. I was shade matched in the Glossier store for this foundation, and I was shocked at how well the undertones and tint of this shade matched my face. I have always struggled to find a foundation that looked like my real skin, in both shade and texture, and this foundation checked all the boxes. This is one of the first foundations I have actually loved!

I wish I could’ve found a shade match

Let me preface this by saying I ultimately had to return this foundation, because I simply could not make the shade work for me, and there wasn’t another shade that would’ve been better. I perhaps could’ve made it work if I mixed two different shades together, but I’m tired of doing that with foundations.I actually really liked the finish of this product. I usually prefer a more matte look, so it took a little getting used to, but it is very pretty and natural. It felt a little heavier than my usual CC cream, but was comfortable to wear, and made my skin feel nice. I like the ingredients, too.However, even with a mattifying primer and setting powder, I didn’t feel it lasted very well on my oily T-zone. My new favorite foundation!

I bought this on a whim after hearing mixed reviews. Obviously how well a base product works for you has a lot of variables and is highly individual. However, this looks so healthy and lovely on my skin which is not the case for many base products (30, often dry and sometimes flaky, mild rosacea, moderate hormonal cystic acne). I have a good amount of redness and acne to cover most days and this provides great coverage (I’d say it covers my blemishes like 80%). My skin can be sensitive, but this foundation hasn’t caused any breakouts or irritation. It looks more satin when initially applied and then gets a bit dewier later in the day. The last thing I want is to write a negative review and I am really hoping mine was just from a bad batch! While it is super blendable, smooth, seamless and stunning when freshly applied, this foundation is… OILY! So oily, powder is useless. Even Laura Mercier’s original translucent loose setting powder can’t stop the oil! I acknowledge that I have oily skin, but other foundations just don’t behave this way on me. This is the oiliest foundation I have ever tried. It is totally unwearable. When I wore it with powder for three hours I unfolded a serviette and essentially soaked the whole expanded thing with oil. But hey, the foundation looked great after! I just wish it would look like that for most of the wear time. I really wanted to love this foundation. So for me, this doesn’t fit Glossier’s brand identity. I have light olive skin and there are so few shades out there for people with a skin tone like mine. Light olive shades are unicorns. But this is the PERFECT MATCH! It looks like my skin! This is a MAJOR win for shade range inclusivity because most brands seem to think olive skin only exists in the medium to dark shade range. What a hilarious myth. The fact that Glossier has olive shades in EVERY depth is INCREDIBLE. I was so excited by this I NEEDED this foundation! I live in Australia and had to use ReShip to get this into the country (I had to pay tax and additional shipping on it as well as waiting longer for arrival). I am ecstatic the shade matches (the closer of only two shade matches I have ever found)… but I am so disappointed the formula is unworkable for me! It’s just not wearable. I was finally lucky after a year of obsessive searching, swatching and sampling every light olive and near-olive shade in existence (or at least which won’t require $80 just to get a sample into Australia!) to have found Glossier Light 3 and Ilia Cozumel (a bit warmer than my skin, unlike Light 3) at the same time. I really hope Glossier’s formula will be improved or an oily skin version will be introduced at some point because it is my closest match ever! Unfortunately unless that happens I will be pairing my Light 3 concealer with the Ilia foundation, which isn’t quite as good. God, I wanted to love this. Please, please, Glossier, create a version suitable for oily skin! ❤️

Recommend but runs warmer

I want to preface this by saying that this is my first foundation ever and i’ve been doing makeup for four years. This is mainly because I like the “natural” makeup and I thought foundation would make it a bit too much for me. But since I love glossier, and wanted to level up my makeup a bit I bought this. I have very bad sensory issues and bangs so I hate when i feel something gross on my face. This was very very light, it quite literally felt like nothing was on my skin I am not joking to you. The shade match was also beautiful. I am neautral toned but that was way too yellow for me in store so I got the cool toned one. I love Glossier and was so excited to use this product. It was recommended to me in store, marketed for complete, glossy, natural coverage and for sensitive skin. I started using it and after a week began breaking out, but figured it was due to the stress of the holidays and finals. After continued l usage, my skin was completely dry, flaky, burning and broken out in tiny red bumps all around my mouth. I finally realized what was happening, and stopped using foundation . The allergic reaction was so severe I stopped all makeup usage for several weeks.Even after not using any makeup for a few weeks I still had to visit a dermatologist and was diagnosed with perioral dermatitis, likely due to using this product (as well as the After Baume).
