Amazing Strobes

For the costs of these strobes with them being digital and adjustable from the trigger unit, you cannot go wrong with these. This has changed my whole way of setting up and shooting as once I measure my distances and get my basic aperture settings, the digital will hold good for maybe 75-80% of my shoots (if I setup the same) and reduce setup time.

I received a defective item, then had to pay out of pocket for another light and canceled 4 clients. We have been out of work for months so this is a huge inconvenience im so disappointed

I needed a third flash head for my set of two Bowens GM400Rx’s that I was told were no longer available. This unit fit in perfectly with my studio set up for shooting small product shots.

Godox QS400II Performance

The strobe light was very well packaged upon arrival. The light output was tested and for a small studio and/or room size (3x3 metres) gave adequate lighting at camera ISO 200. Very happy with the unit.

Inconsistent intensity
5 September 2018

Purchased three of the QS-400s and the X1 transmitter. Easy to set the light heads for use with the X1. Easy control of light intensity for each channel from the X1. But this where the good review ends.Periodically one of the three heads will not fire, fire at very low intensity, or at full power. Totally random which of the three will make the misfire. This is not acceptable for professional setups that clients expect our equipment to function, not "we need to do that over". Also, use rechargeable batteries in the X1. It eats them like I eat M&Ms!Went with this unit because many other pros in our pro-photographers association rave about the Godox battery powered unit, and B&H lighting experts liked them. The flash is pretty good
8 February 2021

Unfortunately I have to take points off because the unit I received had clearly been used.I don't know if that's the fault of B&H or Godox - so I hate to knock the product if it was B&H's fault, but I have no way of knowing.Had I not needed the flash for a multi-day catalog shoot startign the day I received it, I would have shipped it right back.I used the flash for several thousand shots, so I didn't feel right about returning it at that point. I was afraid it'd just be reboxed and sent to some other unsuspecting customer.Since it was working, I figured for 200bucks, I'd just forget about it.It's a good solid flash. It kept firing while my other godox (battery -even though they were well charged) flashes started randomly missing. This is definitely ... MoreUnfortunately I have to take points off because the unit I received had clearly been used.I don't know if that's the fault of B&H or Godox - so I hate to knock the product if it was B&H's fault, but I have no way of knowing.Had I not needed the flash for a multi-day catalog shoot startign the day I received it, I would have shipped it right back.I used the flash for several thousand shots, so I didn't feel right about returning it at that point. You get more than you pay for
2 November 2020

Are these flash heads perfect, no they are not. If you are chasing perfection, you will probably never find it and if you are looking for perfection in a flash head under $200 then you will never be happy with them. I have had these in my studio for almost 3 years. I have had no major problems with them. The color and intensity fluctuates from time-to-time and maybe every thousand flashes or so it will misfire. But seriously they are under $200!! I have a rental studio and these guys get a TON of use. At this price point the build quality is fabulous. They have proven to be very durable (trust me, my customers can be hard on them). Other than expected maintenance (changing bulbs) these strobes have performed like rock stars.
