This adapter allows a flash to be used in conjunction with a Bowens light shaper such as a softbox, reflector or spotlight attachment. It is also possible to use it as a flash tilter together with a reflector or diffuser. The Speedring adapter has one inch spigot mount. The attachable flash is easily mounted in the adapter with a clamping mechanism. The clamping width is variably adjusted by a hand screw in the range of 27 to 52 mm. This makes it possible to use the SpeedringAdapter together with flashes of different manufacturers and sizes. A rubber coating on the contact surface ensures that the attachable flash is held securely in the clamp. The SpeedringAdapter can be tilted forwards and backwards by 90 degrees in individual steps. This makes it easy to adjust the light shaper for targeted lighting in studio photography. The panhead is released with a hand screw with a long lever and can be adjusted in 20 clickstops. The locking steps ensure that the panhead is held securely in the respective position and prevent, for example, a softbox from lowering unintentionally due to its weight. With a 5/8 inch spigot connection, the speedring adapter can be mounted on a lamp tripod together with the mounted attachable flash and light shaper. With a hand screw the SpeedringAdapter is fixed safely on the lamp tripod. Thanks to a shade holder, the Speedring adapter can also be used together with a reflector shade or a translucent shade instead of a Bowens light shaper. The shade is quickly and easily attached to the shade holder, making it easy to switch between use with a light shaper and a reflector/transmitted light shade.

Just starting a proper kit for OCF, I did my homework. It really makes sense to use an S-type mount to avoid damage to the hot shoe of speedlights. The S2 also provides some impact protection to the flash in the event of a fall. The clamp mechanism works great and it mounts easily to my light stand in either landscape or portrait orientation. The S2 seems very solid and durable. I also really like the handle for angle adjustment, where the handle itself can be adjusted to an ergonomicand useful position. The umbrella holder was a little difficult at first, with the spring tensioner, but I used a Phillips-head screwdriver to do an initial break-in, and now my umbrella goes in fine. The S2 is worth the slightly higher cost over an umbrella bracket and probably also the S-type (S1?) mount, for durability and build quality.

A little plasticky around the bayonet mount area for my taste, but for the price it does the job well. Holds Bowens mount modifiers securely and the stand mount is solid metal with a re-positionable locking lever. Comes with insert adapters for the collar to accept boxy-shaped flashes like the V860III and the AD200PRO, as well as round flashes like the V1 and the AD300PRO. I'm using mine primarily with the AD300PRO and the Parasnap 44 octa - great combination so far with a fast setup and very portable. Be careful when tightening down around the AD300 - the plastic housing of the strobe will deform slightly and may crack if overtightened.

Basically, this thing is awesome. I have 3. I can use all my soft boxes with my speedlights now, which suits my product photography very well...even when I do more of a portrait session, which I did recently for a pharma agency. I was able to run a 3 light setup using all speedlights. They're much easier to move round and all the lights are controlled by a hotshoe wireless controller; so I can adjust power and zoom for any light right from the camera. These Bowens adapters facilitate all of that. The only issue is that they don't readily attach to my JTL 24" soft box. You kind of have to force it. You have to turn the speed ring around to fit different pegs in the holes but eventually it'll clip in. They can hold the weight just fine, but if you turn the softbox the wrong way it might just fall out of the adapter. So I have to be careful with adjusting those stripboxes when using this item.In all, the Godox S-Type Speedlite Bracket for Bowens does work well and I use them all the time. For $14 you really can't go wrong. You do get what you pay for and I've read other reviews that say they're cheap plastic, and the angle adjustment is clunky. Well, they're plastic but very solid and durable. They won't break under normal use, that I can see. And as far as adjusting the angle it works fine. Sometimes you can't get the soft box perfectly level but that's not really an issue.Over all, I recommend this product for photographers who want to use speedlights in their Bowens-mounted light modifiers. It is a bit liberating, and I like shooting 'guerilla' style with super-portable lighting. This product facilitates that in spades.

While this bracket brings bunch of improvements over old one it also proves to be unusable (or kill your gear) in others. The BAD:If You like me use AD200 with bulb head ... forget about being able to use it. Mounting is convoluted and need 3 step process. Since S2 inside hole is actually narrower then old one Bulb-head of AD200 just will not fit thru.New V1 adapter plate ... slides out easy and i had my AD200 slip out more then few times even tho its tightly screwed in. There is no friction on adapter plate and it just slides out.Umbrella mount, unlike before where you could use screw to fix it to certain position, now is friction based meaning if wind blows it just blows umbrella, not entire light-stand, but also when you have large umbrella type modifier ... MoreWhile this bracket brings bunch of improvements over old one it also proves to be unusable (or kill your gear) in others. The BAD:If You like me use AD200 with bulb head ... forget about being able to use it. There is no friction on adapter plate and it just slides out.Umbrella mount, unlike before where you could use screw to fix it to certain position, now is friction based meaning if wind blows it just blows umbrella, not entire light-stand, but also when you have large umbrella type modifier (octabox for instance) that you use it in reflection position ... weight of it slides umbrella down to where umbrella almost rests on Fresnel head. Other then using rubber-bands or some other DIY solution ... there is no way to fix it to a certain position and expect to find it there over even short amount of time. Now The GOOD.Improved handlebar that was before only usable on certain light-stand tops (different lengths, sizes, with or without screw on top), now fits all. Also metal which instills more confidence. Gone is the ratchet mechanism for changing of angle. New one is great and fluid and also easy to tighten with very little force.Top screw actually feels better then old one ... doesn't stick at all.For me unless i modify it to such extent that its more of Frankenstein then what i purchased ... its unusable, safely anyway since it put my gear in harms way.I don't own V1 or even intend on getting on that bandwagon, just wanted revised bracket that is better then what i was using. This while it does improves on some aspects ... totally kills the others.I was so looking forward to using this, but now im looking online for large pack of crazy glue or 2 component glue to fix that adapter plate in place. Also i might use dremel drill to make sure i can fit AD200 bulb head thru opening.
I love the bracket. It works very well and is very sturdy and durable. I have no complaints about the bracket. It is what it is and it does what it should very well.My complaint is with the silica gel desiccant packet. The packet in this box was not sealed properly and when I opened the box the silica gel beads spilled all over my floor and couch. These packets are dangerous and possibly poisonous to animals and we have a dog and a cat. Trying to find what seems like a million tiny 3mm clear beads on a dark hardwood floor is next to impossible. I vacuumed the floor and couch and can only pray I got them all. It was a huge mess to clean up.Like I said the bracket is excellent and works well. Time will tell if it is as durable as it seems, but the mess caused by ... MoreI love the bracket. Time will tell if it is as durable as it seems, but the mess caused by the desiccant packet was a nightmare to clean up.I didn't even see the beads in the box because they were in the bubble wrapped bracket which I pulled out after opening the box and that's when the beads spilled everywhere.I contacted B&H and they were wonderful as always. Evan told me he would contact Godox and let them know so hopefully this won't happen to anyone else.B&H is an amazing company and it is always a pleasure to do business with them.
It seems like a very stupid oversight, but this Godox bracket does not have a screw that controls the distance of the umbrella from the flash head. Look carefully at the pictures - it relies upon friction, which is a poor substitute for a screw that can hold the distance in its place. When faced with the wind, a tilt, or if the shaft of the umbrella or modifier is not just the right diameter, the umbrella can slip easily. There are other brackets at the same price that have this. I bought this product and regretted it after realizing it lacked this basic feature.
I use both studio strobes and speedlights. Rather than buying modifiers designed specifically for speedlights, the Godox S-type Speedlite Bracket for Bowens allows me to use some of the studio modifiers I already own, such as small softboxes/octaboxes, a beauty dish, and a 7-inch reflector, which saves me money and shelf space! My one complaint is the tilting mechanism. I expected it to tilt up and down smoothly like my umbrella adapters. This, however, has hard stops as you adjust, and as you do so, it makes hideous clacking noises. The plus side to this little bit of resistance, however, is that it decreases the likelihood for heavier modifiers to suddenly swing downward when making angle adjustments. The plus side to this little bit of resistance, however, is that it decreases the likelihood for heavier modifiers to suddenly swing downward when making angle adjustments. Wedding photographers DO NOT want to be adjusting this during ceremonies or speeches.Notes:- Will fit most traditional speedlights with flat rectangular faces, such as my Phottix Juno TTL. There is a different version of this bracket suited for round flashes such as the Profoto A1 or Godox V1.- Fits securely onto my Manfrotto 1052BAC and 1004BAC stands without any issues.- Studio modifiers are generally not as fast to set up or break down as ones designed for speedlights. However, I am willing to sacrifice some convenience since my work is not fast-paced or time-sensitive.- Casting an even circle of light using a speedlight and 7-inch reflector will require a dome diffuser on the flash (not applicable to bare-bulb flashes such as the Godox AD200).For those who already own small modifiers for studio lights and wish to expand the possibilities of their speedlights, this bracket is a good option, as long as noise and setup time are not a concern. I own three of these and have been very pleased with them.
This is a simple yet smart design with good quality, all for a very reasonable price.- Versatile: I can use it with a speedlight (e.g. Godox R2 series, Yongnuo, Nikon, whatever), or a LED video light with small rounded head (e.g. Godox ML60)- Good quality and finish, feel solid even with a medium size softbox that is not too heavy. The handle locks down securely. The handle has central release button, so it can be used even if the light and softbox block part of the movement.- An umbrella holder is built-in. I wish there is a way to tighten the holder, since right now it is just a spring.- You can mount it horizontally or vertically on a light stand or pole.
This is my second S2 Bracket to be able to have more flexibility with different setups. While the AD200 is a bit snug to fit in (try from the front rather than the rear of the bracket) it's not all that bad and once it, it's very secure. The flexibility of the bottom plate is great, and easy to use either way. The one knock I have with it is the securing mechanism in the umbrella hole is exceedingly stiff and I actually popped out the metal plate which holds the umbrella in place with my first unit. Not the end of the world, I just keep big rubber bands with me and secure the umbrella that way. Now I know to be more careful with the second unit. Definitely a solid product.
I bought this to use with Canon 600-series speedlight, mostly with a Westcott umbrella, but occasionally with a Bowens-mount modifier. I was initially concerned that this plastic bracket wouldn't be sturdy. But I was pleasantly surprised that the quality is excellent. The plastic molding is precise with a nice finish. Metal inserts are overmolded to reinforce key areas. All of the hardware, tightening screws, umbrella mount, Bowens mount work perfectly. The angle adjust has securely-locking detents, so the modifiers or umbrella do not shift or droop over time. In addition, the large handle for tightening the angle adjustment is itself adjustable with a spline - so the handle can be rotated to any position to minimize interference, then locked back in place. The ... MoreI bought this to use with Canon 600-series speedlight, mostly with a Westcott umbrella, but occasionally with a Bowens-mount modifier. But it does not fit all the way down onto my Matthews B387486 stand, so when I tighten it, it tilts a bit. The reason is that, even though the total depth of the receptacle is 1-3/8, the last 3/8 is narrower than 5/8 dia, so the useable depth is really only about an inch. The Manfrotto spigot is only about an inch long, so it fits fine, but the Matthews spigot is 1-7/8 long so this bracket only goes part-way down and is therefore a bit wobbly - has to be tightened extra hard. But this is not a deal-breaker, just an annoyance when used with certain light stands. Other than that issue I am very happy with the bracket.
