I bought this flash for my new Nikon D780 with a sigma 28-105 F4 Art lens. The flash communicates with the camera and Ken's as expected. I have never owned a round head flash head, and it works very well. I bought some of the magnetic accessories, flip diffuser and fresnel filter. The unit has plenty of power and the LiON battery has so much stored capacity, it is nice not to have to worry about having spare batteries.All in al an excellent flash and I highly recommend it.

What else is great? The flash shows you how much power is left. No guessing! I had the dome and the bounce card on and it took beautiful evenly lit photos. You can also lock the sttings in so it doesn't move. Many other features not used yet like the modeling light. Built solid. Just bought another one. Selling my SB flashes. Sorry Nikon.

My old Nikon 900 bit the dust, so I took advantage of B&H holiday discounts. This is a really solid device and works perfectly on my Nikon D700 (yes, that old) and my new Hasselblad X2D. I use it on camera, off camera with a Nikon hot-shoe cable, and I pair it with the Godox 400 mono-light; it is wonderful in all configurations-seamless for both Nikon and the Hasselblad. It takes a little practice to get used to the exposure compensation controls, but it's really not that difficult, and after a couple of sessions, it's pretty much baked in. It acts as the controller for the AD400 pro--sweet. I also purchased the accessory kit, and the diffuser dome is quite nice. It's a great system and I plan to build it out with other pieces and accessories. Highly recommended.

I currently own two of these, four TT685s, two AD200s, and one AD400pro. I keep the TT685s as backups, but the V1 is my go-to shoe flash. I've been using it at indoor and outdoor events with very pleasing results. I always want more power for bouncing, but I think the quality of the round head is far more forgiving than any of the godox rectangular fresnel heads. An excellent gig companion.
I've left a review prior to this one. This is my second V1. I love the light. I love the radio communication and remote setting of power, mode, etc. from the camera. My only gripe (and it's a small one) is that the battery charger only gives a red to green charging indication. Would be better to have an indication of what stage the battery charge is in using a blinking series or code like the AD200/300 or Canon chargers do.
This flash unit works well on my Z6ii as well as with the flash trigger when it is on camera. The only reason I downgraded to 4 stars is I'm uneasy about future firmware updates. I could not upgrade the firmware in my Godox TT685N allowing itall to work on my Z6ii. After I unloaded and unpacked the installer and new firmware it refused to recognize the TT685N. Just beware of the future even though the unit works now and the price point is good.
This unit is very advanced in its capabilities. On camera, off camera and as a radio transmitter to other Godox products. Ingenious. I came from the Nikon SU800 line of sight system, which was advanced for its time and worked within its limitations. Then I fussed with Pocket Wizards, which were (and are) great. I still use them in the studio with my aging Dynalite stuff. But being able to program the lights from the camera is so great. Minimal learning curve to get set up and running. Highly recommended. BTW...stick to buying these units from a reputable vendor. Some offshore vendors don't care if you encounter a problem.
V1N used with a D500 and Z7I've used this flash for interior architectural and group portraiture work and with my 105 for macro work.In general, I'm not sure the round head is superior to a rectangular configuration but it is nice not to see rectangular edges from the flash in wider angle and more distant shots. I purchased separately the dome diffuser (amazon; sorry B&H it was available as a single item not a kit) and find the results with the diffuser to be more flattering than without for portraits (bounce) and even for shots if innominate objects. I like the way the diffuser is held to the flash with magnets.My beef with this flash is that it is too hot when used in the iTTL mode on the Z7 (the D500 seems a bit better integrated). If you take this into consideration, it is a very good flash with great battery life. Cost wise it is a good bargain. Yes, as others have said the besel of the dial rotates a bit, but it isn't any more than a minor distraction. Functionally, the menus are easy to learn and use. It has 21 channels for wireless use.I initially bought this because the promised Hahnel 600RT was backordered for the last year. I'm glad I didn't purchase a Nikon flash instead because I doubt the extra cost would have been warranted. I should note I eventually did purchase the Hahnel and have written some about my comparison with that flash. In general, the Hahnel nails the exposure without compensation, compared to what is required with this flash. Price point not that different. Currently the Hahnel is my go to flash although I wouldn't be disappointed if I pulled the V1N out of my bag instead since by default the V1N has dialed in that exposure compensation.
I own two ad200 and two v860ii. I just needed something more versatile and went for this one! I wasn't expecting much, but caught me by surprise when I had forgotten my ad200 at home and luckily I had this one on my camera bag! I also have the accessories that you can buy as a bundle or separately(which I recommend you getting). I set this bad boy up on my tripod onto my subject and I was impressed! If you want something slightly better than the v860ii, this will do the job!

The power output is about One stop less though at full power.Some of the features that I like are the built in transmitter that allows control of remote Godox lights. The display on the V1 will not back light by using the camera controls the way Nikon flashes do. You have to press a button on the V1 to get back light to come on for the default of 12 seconds.It would be nice if you could take a picture in i-TTL mode and then switch to manual output and keep the power level from the recent i-TTL flash like Profoto does. Some on line videos I watched say that this feature exist but there are no instructions in the manual to explain how to make it work. Battery life has been adequate. I have been able to shoot an 8 hour wedding and still had one bar of battery life left when finished. I hope a spare battery is available to order from B&H soon.I hope Godox will update their firmware from V1.1 to fix some of the small issues that i have discovered.
