I purchased this VL200 Kit late 2021 and did great for a while. Powerful lights and good softboxes for the money. I would not recommend using the case it comes with, very cheaply made, the handle broke after 3 months. The lights are rugged, so I thought. One of the lights just quit working after 4 minutes during a live broadcast while it was plugged in...that was three weeks ago :/ It has not worked since, the light will turn on and will last only a few minutes, the fan still works, but I get a red light and it shuts off. Now I have to find another light to replace. Hopefully Godox fixed the issues with the VL200II versions. Hope the one I have left does not have the same issue, I better replace that one too just in case. Godox if you're listening, please make a ... MoreI purchased this VL200 Kit late 2021 and did great for a while. Powerful lights and good softboxes for the money. I purchased this light when it was on sale for about $200 off, and honestly I don’t know why it doesn’t have more reviews. It’s super bright! I dont even think i will ever need a VL300 (for my uses) so this was a perfect middle ground for me! I loved that at the time it was cheaper than the VL150! But even without the discount it is still an amazing deal!I have used the aperture lights in the past and this are almost identical in usage and for sure identical in quality! The only thing i would change is to take the look of the aperture 300d mark II design and get rid of the second power box! But other than that this light does not disappoint and is truly a hidden gem! I highly recommend this light! If you want to see my review of this light subscribe to ... MoreI purchased this light when it was on sale for about $200 off, and honestly I don’t know why it doesn’t have more reviews. Total junk! B&H sent me a non working device and sent it as new, but no manual or warranty cards. Kinda stuffed in the very nice case. Looked unused to me, but noticed when mounting the rear handle was cracked loose. I have video. Hooked it all up and completely DOA. Nothing lit up. The remote works, but not with this junk. At first B&H said refund OK, Shortly they said since I didn't have a warranty, they would only send another. Don't buy. I have the 2 cheapest GODOT retro shoe flash that work great!

I have a SL150 and a couple of SL60s. I needed some thing much quieter than the SL150 as my key and the VL200 is orders of magnitude quieter. The fit and finish is better in every way. A really good update from the SLs. I always buy Godox around Xmas when there are lots of good deal so they aren't that much more expensive. I just wish they worked with the Godox Light app.
This item was shipped on the same day I ordered it from Adorama and it arrived exactly 2 days later. Bravo on Adorama's shipment speed! The item itself arrived in perfect condition; no scratches or dinks and it came in its own protective carrying case with nothing missing. Even the shipment box didnt have any tears, perforation or damages. The Lights upon unboxing and assembling, worked straight out of the package. The lights are extremely bright and are perfect for any small studio setup. These shine bright and have an awesome dimmable capacity using a 1% step-down technology. It gives great color accuracy and it truly has a soundless fan and extremely bright day lights. It was like having a mini sun inside of my studio. I am impressed, not only by the great ... MoreThis item was shipped on the same day I ordered it from Adorama and it arrived exactly 2 days later. Bravo on Adorama's shipment speed! The reason why I bought this Godox VL200 was because of the price. It is $200 less than the Aputure 120D Mark 2. I also bought a softbox with it and still spent less than the 120D II. So how did the light perform after using for a short film? Great! I'm in love with this light. The built quality, the output and quality of light is on par with the Aputure line up. For low budget filmmakers like myself this is a great light to have. The Godox VL includes the smaller version which is the VL 150 and the bigger brother the VL300. I went for the middle child. The only thing I wish this light had was the special effect features that the Aputure has. Other than that, this light is awesome.
Case - very high quality and a joy to use.Build quality of light - very good. Solid and yet lightweight.Build quality of clamp - exceptional - holds my massive 120cm parabolic softbox at 90 degrees without struggle.Noise - near silent even at full power.Battery holder - I would prefer a back to back design, but ok.Control - dim wheel feels a bit cheap, but gets the job done.Wireless control - haven't tried it yet.
This is a fantastic light. I also have the VL150 and tend to use that one more because its is smaller. Not just the light head itself but the controller and the power block are much larger as well. The VL150 only requires one v-mount battery to power compared to two on this fixture. That being said the VL200 can be nice for a bit of extra brightness and balances nicely with larger modifiers. Would recommend but It's worth considering your use case whether it's the right light for you.
I bought 2 sets of these lights, and they worked pretty well for about a year until in the middle of filming day the power go off and a red light in the body of the light started to blink.I think that the problem with these lights is in the power circuit, they work for a while and then they go off, I can't trust these lights on a filming day.Now in looking to buy an Aperture 300d light to replace the Godox'sa huge disappointment with the Godox VL200.
This is a powerhouse of a light, well built and extremely bright. B&H had a temporary deal for this light that brought it down to a similar price point as the VL150 so I pulled the trigger. So far I've used it to augment the sunlight coming in the clear windows of a church and it has enough power to make a difference. I cannot think of a downside to this light, especially considering the price point. I've paired it with the Good octagonal soft box which is very useful to soften the otherwise extremely powerful light source. I expect this to be an important part of my lighting kit for years to come.
