Golden OPEN Acrylic Paints are a slow-drying paint with a slightly softer consistency than the Heavy Body paints from Golden. The increased working time of these acrylic paints allows artists to use more traditional oil painting techniques when working with them. Thick applications can dry extremely slowly, so it is recommended artists only use OPEN Acrylics thinly (<1mm). Mixing OPEN with faster-drying acrylics like the Golden Fluid and Heavy Body ranges can accelerate the drying time. The slow-drying capability of OPEN Acrylics also makes them suitable for some printmaking techniques. Due to the slower drying time of OPEN Acrylics, artists can use the paints for weeks when covering palettes or using sealed containers. This reduces the amount of paint wasted and preserves colour mixtures for future use.
