Golden SoFlat Matte Acrylic is a professional quality acrylic paint that enables artists to create large, flat, even areas of matt colour. Available in a range of 60 colours, SoFlat is perfect for fine art, illustration, graphic design, and street art. Golden SoFlat has a flowing consistency, offering exceptional coverage and a velvety smooth durable surface. Colours possess good levelling qualities, making it easier to minimise the appearance of brushstrokes. SoFlat colours are compatible with other acrylic paints and mediums. While some pigments are naturally transparent, SoFlat has a unique formulation that provides greater opacity than is normally found in acrylic paints. For a uniform matt finish, the best results can be achieved with a soft flat brush over a smooth substrate. SoFlat can be brushed, spray applied, used in refillable markers, and more.

I bought a set of colors from the So Flat line based on a recommendation that said it was a good line for blending. I paint statues and model kits. With this line i have painted one model kit, touched up one statue and am in the process of another statue. The line is great. The paints thin and hand brush nicely. I haven't done any blending yet, so i can't speak to that. The paints work well on and over pastel dust. A couple gripes but nothing significant. The best thing about the line is the durability. This was a pleasant surprise as most paints that I have used are terrible for durability. With model kits that can be posed, an issue that happens is that the paint has to stand up to parts rubbing on it. On a test piece, it required a metal putty knife to damage ... Which with other lines, Vallejo Model and Mecha lines and Master's touch, among others, would be damaged by plastic after a couple passes. Durability is almost too good because it took 99% isopropyl and a green pad to clean up a neglected palette. This is a personal preference but one thing I would wish for is for the bottles to come with a dropper of some kind. Similar to the Vallejo bottles, Amsterdam ink bottles or even the craft paint bottle caps. Only reason for this it that it makes it easier to write down mixture combinations if more of a color is needed. But another thing is that mixtures seem to need mixing often as the colors would start to separate while on the palette. Not a big deal but something to note. These are the only reasons I didn't give 5 stars.

I love the paint, but have to deduct a star for the container. It's just not user friendly, very messy to scoop out liquid paint. I understand that it needs to be stirred and that's probably why it is jarred, but a better option would be to sell a separate cap with a nozzle top that could be put on after stirring and re-used. Or just instructions to stir before use and packaged with a removable nozzle lid. I'd give 5 stars for that but probably wouldn't recommend this to anyone because of the packaging. But I do love the paint and will probably get more in spite of that.#sweepstakes

Great flat dark green paint. I love Golden paints for their outstanding pigments. This green is a great background green for me. By being both dark green in color and flat, this background gives only a hint of green while satisfying my need for a flat background. I like, on occasion, to have a stark contrast between the glossy paints, which are great, and a flat background. This paint has allowed me to achieve that look. Perfection.

I'll be honest - I love almost every single product by Golden and these are no exception. I love these paints. I'm not a huge fan of super glossy acrylics and these are very matte and perfect for my taste. I know they're not advertised as acrylic gouache but that's basically what they are - and in my opinion they're a better value than Holbein as they are in larger sizes. I wish they were in different containers bc I hate having to use a palette knife to get out a quantity onto a palette but that's me being picky. I love this brand so much. So much info available on their website as well. And Golden's customer service is top notch. Ask them anything and they'll figure it out for you. So happy with these paints. #sweepstakes
Great flat Ultramire paint. I love Golden paints for their outstanding pigments. This Ultramarine is perfect in its outstanding color. It makes an exceptional background color for so many of the pieces I paint and I find it holds that true color long after the piece is dry. ! I love the paint and would give it 4-5 stars if it weren't for the containers. Paint with this consistency should come in a squeeze bottle, or with the option to buy a squeeze top that would screw onto the jars for dispensing. Please sell a nozzle top that will fit onto these jars!Even if it had to be rinsed out that would be better than trying to dispense paint out of these jars. I only use small amounts sometimes. Pouring out makes a huge mess on the side of the jar and is usually too much. Palette knife scooping likewise is messy and inconvenient. Working out of the jar isn't ideal. The paint is really nice though. Could use a bigger color selection. I really wish there was an opaque really dark blue like an indigo; a color like the night sky.The blue violet is lighter than it looks on screen, the phthalo blue is only semi opaque, and the ultramarine is too bright for that. Yes I could mix my own but the point of this paint is to have a large flat matte consistent area, so knowing how much to mix can be tricky. And mixing is no fun dispensing from these containers. Because of them I can't recommend these; otherwise I totally would.
Great flat yellow green paint. I love Golden paints for their outstanding pigments. This green is startling in its outstanding brilliance. Love it! I like, on occasion, to have a stark contrast between the glossy paints, which are great, and a flat background. This paint has allowed me to achieve that look. Perfection.
The SoFlat range is absolutely perfect for painting resin and plastic miniatures. The texture is perfectly smooth and creamy and so richly pigmented that I can water it down to washes and filters without it becoming awfully glossy with a little bit of the super matte medium. Plus, contrary to hobby paints, I can mix my own colors without losing brilliance because I know what pigments I'm working with. Well worth the price. #sweepstakes
There are so many things to like...or love... about this product!! First...I have to start by staying that Golden makes a beautiful Payne's Gray! It is consistent in all their products. Next...I love love love the Matte finish...and would probably paint everything in that if I could. Another thing... great quality as you always get with Golden!! Only drawback for me...is that it is a little spendy to buy a truck load like I would like to. Definitely try it if you can!! Payne's Gray is my favorite...but the Raw Umber is a close second!! Yummy!!
I was very excited to find this new product at Blick. I have tried it in three interesting ways and I just love the results! My first project was using it like a watercolor paint on watercolor paper- the colors dried true to to the wet colors , it spread easily, and dried to a smooth beautiful matte finish. I recovered some of my mistakes with some mixtures of white with a color and that blended in extremely well. I also tried it on a birch panel and left some areas of the wood exposed to use with colored pencil. The colors performed great on this mixed media piece- brilliant colors - straight from the jar and an opaque flat matte finish with no shiny spots as could occur with regular acrylics. I also tried it on a smooth panel using tape to keep straight edges and ... MoreI was very excited to find this new product at Blick.
