The OXO rotary peeler has a sharp stainless steel blade for easy and economical peeling of firm fruit and vegetables such as apples and potatoes. At the tip is an additive for removing potato eyes. OXO handles are made of Santoprene and therefore as comfortable as possible and suitable for the dishwasher and latex-free. Santoprene is a process rubber that feels velvety soft and does not become brittle on contact with cooking oil. The material is particularly suitable for the flexible "ribs" on the "Good Grips" handles. The flexibility of Santoprene allows the ribs to bend under pressure and adapt to the grip of the fingers for greater comfort and control. And because Santoprene is non-slip, your fingers stay in control even when the handle or hands are wet.

I bought this peeler after getting tired of the really cheap ones breaking after a very short time and thought it was time to look for something a bit better. The reviews were good and the price was fairly low too, so I thought it would be ideal. And I must say Im impressedI like the chunky grip, it feels like a good quality item. And its sharp too It peels through many things effortlessly. Potatoes, carrots, and as I just found out, fingers Didnt even feel it... Its amazing how long it takes a peeled thumb to stop bleeding... So while Im standing in my kitchen after applying a large plaster and a makeshift tournequet, with my arm raised high above my head wondering how long this is going to take to clot, I figured Id pass the time writing on here how impressed I am ... MoreI bought this peeler after getting tired of the really cheap ones breaking after a very short time and thought it was time to look for something a bit better. Just before Christmas 2019, I went to my cutlery drawer to get my trusty peeler to peel the spuds for dinner and couldnt find it. Gutted. How can something like that have disappeared After interrogating the kids to find out if theyve used it for a random weird project and still drew a blank, Ive had to order a new one of these. Id had one of these peelers for many years now. I find it easy and comfortable to hold, its sharp so neatly peels the skin of assorted root veg very easily with minimal effort. Ive got various other styles from I cant even recall where from but this is my go to. Ive got various other styles from I cant even recall where from but this is my go to. I can peel a stack of spuds for Sunday lunch for 8 people in no time at all.It claims to peel even the toughest fruit vegetable skins. Some of the fruit Ive peeled include oranges, lemons and butternut squash yes butternut squash is a fruit and that was easy to do. Ive also peeled all the normal sort of veg youd expect, spuds, carrots, swede, parsnips, etc. All were pretty easy to peel. The handle shape is slightly elliptical so it doesnt spin around in your hand. Its also made of a type of very grippy rubber that has a series of slits along the length of it. This gives you a very sure hold on it whilst peeling and makes it easy to manipulate it to peel even those gnarly shaped ugly vegetables that suddenly went trendy after Jamie Jimmy made us sad about only buying straight and regular shaped veg. The product blurb says wont slip, even when wet. I can verify that this is true. Its still supergrippy even when its wet, my hand is wet or theyre slick with potato... waterstarchjuiceslightly white wet stuff you get off peeled potatoes. Its symmetrical in shape with blades on both sides. Im righthanded but I dare say that it would work just as well for someone lefthanded. Ive not had an opportunity to get any of my lefthanded friends to peel my veg to verify this though. The end of the peeler as a small, sharpish, plastic scoop type feature, the eye remover. That sounds a bit grim so Ive not done that but its great at removing the minging black bits on potatoes.I can confirm that years of use and going through the dishwasher hasnt harmed it in the slightest. Before my original one randomly went on walkabout, its been through the dishwasher countless times and always looked as good as new. Both my original one and this new one came with a small plastic cover to go over the metal blade section of the peeler the business end. This is fine but frankly irritating when its just lying about on your work top until youre emptying the dishwasher. I never put it back on my original one and despite being in a drawer with all manner of other utensils, it never got damaged or the blade nicked so I dont think its necessary for the protection of the peeler. It has the aforementioned big rubbery handle. Just as thats great for holding it securely, its also great for picking it up so Ive also never gut, scraped or nicked my finger with the blade either. I can therefore only conclude that its to keep it all shiny and nice during transit. Ive therefore sent the peeler sheath in the way of the first one, into the bin.As mentioned, I keep it in a drawer rather than use the large inhandle hole to hang it on something. Im sure you could use it for that but I prefer to hang photos, paintings and maybe a clock on a wall, not vegetable peeling kitchen utensils.I highly recommend this product if you want to peel fruit and veg.

I realise that its a bit sad when you can get excited over a vegetable peeler, but I have to admit that I am. I bought it three months ago, after I managed to lose probably thrown away with the peelings beloved old Lancashire peeler. Ive waited a bit to review it until I had given it a bit of use. I had tried a couple of other Lancashire peelers in the interim, but they felt awkward, and tended to gouge the vegetables. This Oxo beauty is just extraordinary. Ive tackled all sorts of vegetables and fruit and found it universally effective. I know its got a swivel blade that some users complain about, but I have actually not been conscious of this. I think the secret is to rely on the natural sharpness of the peeler and its ability to follow contours, and let it gently ... MoreI realise that its a bit sad when you can get excited over a vegetable peeler, but I have to admit that I am. Lost my existing peeler, so assumed Id thrown it away with the peelings. Bought the OXO peeler as I liked the idea of the chunky holder and soft grip which are its good points. I was also influenced by the plethora of 5 star reviews. Unfortunately the swiveling blade is not to my liking I understand the logic behind it I think ie it is meant to make peeling oddshaped potatoes easier. It doesnt. Or at least not for me. It makes it more difficult and I have managed to cut my fingers with it twice because the swiveling blade makes it unstable, and therefore it can slip. The blade is razor sharp. However, pleased to report that my existing peeler made a reappearance it was hiding under the dish drainer. So the OXO will now be relegated to a spare. Thought shouldnt it say swiveling blade in the Description You have been warned...
I love OXO products. I don’t think I’ve tried one that’s let me down yet. They have everything you can think of, plus some pretty creative items that you didn’t know you needed. This is a great peeler that I use mainly for vegetables. It’s extremely easy to use and I’ve never cut or knocked myself like on cheaper versions. It has a good, sturdy grip and a sharp blade. It is high quality and lasts for years. I definitely recommend OXO
Comfortable grip, easy and safe to use! I love this design better compared to the T-shaped ones and it doesn’t slip when holding it with wet hands. Sharp blades that lasts for years! Repurchasing as the handle starts to look a bit old now. Apart from potatoes, carrots, cucumbers, I use it to peel kiwi fruitand mangoes too.
I purchased this and I am very careful when using kitchen equipment. The blade on this peeler is like a sharp razor blade. It comes with a plastic covering, but barely covers the blade. It sliced my finger and it was horrible. I bleed for over an hour and thought I was going to need stitches. Nothing should be this sharp to peel a potato. This should be taken off the market.
This is a nice peeler - easy comfortable grip, sharp blades. What it lacks, which the cheaper all metal ones have, is a tip to dig out potato-eyes. I miss that: you must use a knife for that operation. Oxo makes good tools but missed making this a great tool. I would not buy another one.
Sometimes something comes into your life and shows you that you have been struggling needlessly. That something is this peeler.Peeling potatoes has been a laborious task. And I sometimes thought to myself...is this supposed to be difficult? The answer is ‘no’.When you get this peeler (and I know you will) be careful! I was so indoctrinated to thinking that in order for a peeler to work , you had to press and keep continuing pressure as you peeled...you do not! When you have to super comfortable and soft device in your hand, use a micro dose of the strength you have been using with your former peeler. It will slide effortlessly and gently remove the peel and leave you with so much more potato!I never realized how much potato I was losing in the peeling pile before ... MoreSometimes something comes into your life and shows you that you have been struggling needlessly. That something is this peeler.Peeling potatoes has been a laborious task. After losing my original OXO Good Grips swivel peeler some time ago, I was constantly on the look out for a replacement. Its taken a while and fortunately they have returned to Myer. It's so comfortable to hold and glides along effortlessly - the memories of how great it is, all came flooding back. No other peeler compares!
