To be honest this is an older model and does not stand a chance against the newer devices in the market today. In it's time this was a great device for travel and vacation. We used it regularly in hotels and resorts. Considering it's age, I still carry this with us in 2024 to use for movie nights. Definitely recommend a newer model for the upgraded hardware but for some simple viewing, this won't let you down if you don't mind some slower loading times.

And yes, along with any Google product purchase you do get access to their support team that can be reached 24/7 via chat, text or phone call anywhere in the world. Personally I'm looking forward to seeing just how far this fun little device goes and witnessing its evolution as the technology advances and where it may stand out amongst the competition. I suppose only time will tell but until then I'm enjoying mine just fine. Recommend and especially for those who are not so tech savvy and live for a product that they can use literally out of the box - plug and Play - this, for you, I highly recommend!

Next I discovered that you can cast with your app direct to the Chromecast and somehow Chromecast takes over and you can't use your device as a remote control, like I like to do, I am retired after all. So then after messing with this thing for about half an hour I figured out that if I pulled my site up on my chromebook first, then hit the cast box at the bottom of the screen it would ask permission to display my screen. If I approve it then it will allow me to "mirror " my chromebook screen just like when I use one of those HDMI cables. Now I have complete "remote control" and I can sit back in my easy chair, watch my sports and I am a happy camper. Now this things great. The quality is much better than when I was casting my Samsung phone to my Samsung TV and just as good as when I use my HDMI cable. But now I don't have to mess with a 25 foot long HDMI cable strewn all over my den. I did provide a few photos and I hope this helps some other old "baby boomer" to keep from making some of the same mistakes I did. These Chromecast machines are great and I really like the screen savers! I gave them 5 stars.

Everything is managed via a mobile phone, making the operation quite simple. I search for a Netflix movie on my phone, switch to the Chromecast on TV, and in less than two clicks, the movie is playing on the screen. Additionally, it's a lot simpler for me because I enjoy watching on sites like YouTube, Twitch, etc. You are not constrained by the Hisense smart TV applications, which are a complete failure. For someone who appreciates simplicity of use and a decent operating system, this is an excellent buy. Additionally, you may cast from any connected device to the WLAN network. Awesome as hell!

I am not sure if min isn’t older version but I wouldn’t say is that great. Is ok but could be better! Sometimes is hard to connect and trying to rewind or fast forward is a bit of a pain. With 50mb wifie should be pretty fast but unfortunately is not. I have to use google home app which I don’t think has great user interface, is not very intuitive. Is ok, useful tool but there are better ones there.

Excellent old tech

For some reason Google decided to cancel this audio streaming device. I learned this just as I read about this exciting device. It turns out this is the device I really needed but don't know existed. Now, we can all stream music with a regular Google Chromecast and I recently bought the brand new version with remote controll and Google TV. But everything is connected with HDMI which means that my television set have to be turned on while listening to music. The Chromecast Audio connects directly to the HIFI amplifier with an optical cable (which was included in my purchase). Setting it up with the Google Home app were just as forward and easy as just about every other Google device. The sound is amazing. As long as my amplifier is turned on I can tell the Google Nest Mini on my wall to play a song or an album and the playback is controlled by the Chromecast Audio. I really recommend this product to any audio enthusiasts out there. Hopefully Google bring this device back as it's quite unique.

Useless, Does not allow casting from laptop computers

Tried connecting an old Chromecast stick to a TV and was told they no longer had the download for it and I had to use the Home app. Figured I might as well just upgrade the Chromecast unit so bought this one only for casting from my computer, wanting to keep things simple. I do not use wi fi enabled appliances etc., and for the most part prefer to not have them monitoring my life. So to find out that I HAVE to set this unit up on a smart phone or tablet etc. and my simple lap top computer will not do, makes this a waste of my hard earned money. The old school one did not require a special device so never thought twice about buying this. If you are going to make money off these units, why not make them useful to everyone. better to get a smart tv than this product.

wanted to find a cheaper alternative to a new smart TV since my old ones works amazing so there's no point to get a new one. so I bought it and I have to first download the home app then connect it to the TV and connect my phone to the TV using the home app. I like how it can play YouTube videos on the TV while I searched for another one next to watch. I think it's best to invest in a new smart TV. it so much better than the Chromecast when your at home and the smart TV has apps for video chats and such too vs a regular TV with Chromecast. the plus side of a Chromecast is that when you travel it can travel with you. but then again the draining phone thingy puts me off. cuz I think phone battery is alot more important when your traveling. and who wants to keep re charging their phone every hour when traveling. so overall it's alright for if you don't have smart TV as an alternative and when you travel. but otherwise if your more of a homebody like me and spends hours watching videos. get the smart TV instead of this and your phone's battery from being drained.
