I bought eight smart speakers, the higher-end stereo speakers, the doorbell and the thermostat with an additional temp sensor. The system is trash and I am very disappointed with all of it. The thermostat turns completely off for no reason and with no notice and this has happened twice now. The smart speakers are dumber than dirt and can really only tell you very basic things such as the time and temp. The temp sensor was never recognized by the thermostat and the thermostat cannot sense when I am home as promised.....The doorbell has an alert system that is so complicated I can't make it work for me.I also bought five of the Google cameras and they are trash too. My best thermostat was under warranty. Google charged me 181 dollars for the REFURBISHED replacement. I sent back the old device, too. I should never have been charged for an item under warranty. Customer service is disorganized and say one thing but never do it. There’s no accountability or proper follow-up. Google should care about their customers more and honor their warranties. Had I known I’d have gone and bought another smart thermostat brand with the 181 dollars. The NEST thermostat according to the HVAC technician was faulty and messed up my AC system. It already cost me money to fix that. Google just needed to at least honor their warranty. Buyer beware: no company should ask you to place a credit card hold to replace an item under warranty. ... MoreMy best thermostat was under warranty. Every time I call I get excuses as to no one having the power to refund me, yet they won’t transfer me to anyone else that can do anything. I’d like to file a complaint about how the department is run/mismanaged. Any advice on how I can do that? I will not be purchasing a Google product again. Any other reputable company would have refunded me the erroneous charge by now.

I'd rather have my old Amazon Echo system back because it actually works. It's not perfect, but Google Home/Nest is the remedial Smart home service. Nothing is intuitive, everything is a chore. They really need to take their time and get the system to understand plain language. Google has its hands in everything, but only enough to make money. They aren't actually concerned about a competent service.

I reviewed this smart speaker for weeks to make sure I was not wasting my money. Well, I've had it for a week now and I'm not very impressed. I have a Google Home and a Google Mini since Christmas and they worked well but the sound quality was less than satisfactory, I have had the chormecast audio and the chromecast TV dongle since they have come out so I'm very familiar with the Google home networking. I've had the Google max for a week now and I've had to reboot my network and my Home app 8+ times to get things to work. The Max keeps dropping my wifi, its done that 3 times now and I had to re-add it to my network each time. I've read many Google Home threads on how to fix this and have had no luck. I'm not the only one having this problem, unfortunately. I really ... MoreI reviewed this smart speaker for weeks to make sure I was not wasting my money. I'm not the only one having this problem, unfortunately. I really hope Google can fix the problem fast. As for the sound quality when it is hooked up and running right, it's average to say the lease. Definitely sound better than the Google Home and Mini but it should its 10x times the power and size of it. I also own a B&W Zeppelin, I have the Google Home and a chromecast hooked to it and it sounds a lot better than Max. Sorry Google, please get the connectivity problem fixed and you have a great smart speaker but for now, just hook a Mini and a chromecast up to whatever sound system you have and you'll feather ahead.
I've had a Google home Max for two years and it worked great until a couple of months ago. Now a large group of people can't get the cameras on their Google home Max to work. Ever since they switched from Google Duo to Google Meet there's no video on calls. Do a search on Google home Max camera not working and you'll see a long list of people with the problem that's been going on for months with no resolution from Google.Google used to be a great company but now all their products are just riddled with bugs that never get fixed. Definitely you should go in a different direction.
Don't even consider buying Home Max speakers. I have been trying to get mine to work for over 6 months with Google support. They have significant dropout problems when connected by WIFI. I'm on a Google Mesh network and am getting 50MBS of bandwidth and the speakers drop out when playing music or other audio from Pandora, Audible, Google Podcast, or any other audio source. No problems with WIFI connectivity to Samsung Smart TVs, Nest Thermostats, or Kasa WIFI light switches, its clearly a Home Max problem. Support will tell you to do a factory reset of the speakers, multiple times, and it will not fix the issue. They say it's a known issue and have been unable to fix it and won't accept returns for this since they say they are "working on it." Good Points: Got in a sale,The sound when originally turned on wasn't very good, in fact I thought about returning it, left it turned on whilst putting Xmas food shopping away and thought this thing is getting better, turned it off for tea back on again about 2 hours later and WOW omg this unit this thing this speaker is absolutely amazing , the sound from it is awesome, checked on line and it does say it adjusts volumes and other settings too the room ( should have read the instructions first to not doubt it) the bass is really punchy and the mid tones and treble is perfect , I'm using it joined with the goodie home hub display , Max is on a big book shelf the hub is on a side board , you don't need to look at the max so having it out of the way is a perfect ... MoreGood Points: Got in a sale,The sound when originally turned on wasn't very good, in fact I thought about returning it, left it turned on whilst putting Xmas food shopping away and thought this thing is getting better, turned it off for tea back on again about 2 hours later and WOW omg this unit this thing this speaker is absolutely amazing , the sound from it is awesome, checked on line and it does say it adjusts volumes and other settings too the room ( should have read the instructions first to not doubt it) the bass is really punchy and the mid tones and treble is perfect , I'm using it joined with the goodie home hub display , Max is on a big book shelf the hub is on a side board , you don't need to look at the max so having it out of the way is a perfect combination. Only issue I'm having is when on loud you have to raise your voice to get the Google hub to hear you.Buy this speaker , you really will not regret it , I'd have another to get stereo but really don't need that volume in my dining room.its easily and by far the best speaker avaible at the moment. The volume control on the top ( if sat in its landscape position ) its really smooth to use very easy to find every time .Did I mention the sound . Wow that really is brilliant ..Improvement Points: I can't afford more of them.
The entire Google Home/Nest system is junk and does not work as billed. I have 8 speakers including the higher end ones, the damn doorbell, thermostat and temp sensor and four camera and every single device is trash. It's been a nightmare and nothing worked as Googles promised so I have to do everything manually. I'm about ready to pull all the devices and take them to a parking lot and run over them with a truck and video tape it and put it in Youtube I'm so furious with how Google rips off the customers they are lucky to have. Support is a nightmare and you can't get through. Go with ANYTHING other than Google and avoid the nightmare. AND attention ADT you partnered with a lousy company, Google and I won't purchase your services either because you use Google ... MoreThe entire Google Home/Nest system is junk and does not work as billed. The Google Home Max is an excellent smart speaker. I was interested in a comparable Sonos speaker and while comparing the two I just couldn't justify the extra cost of the Sonos with such limited features and a closed ecosystem. However the Sonos sound may have had a slight edge in sound quality. I also prefer the Sonos speaker design. That said, the Max still sounds amazing and doesn't feel like a compromise. I'll probably purchase a second one in the future. The current price point is what Google should have been targeting the entire time. I wasn't looking so much for a smart device as as much as I wanted a connected speaker with great sound. I've had the Google Home Max for about 6 months now, and it never ceases to amaze me. With its Google Assistant capabilities, the ability to pair other bluetooth devices as well as plug in another audio source via its 3.5mm audio jack (I have a turntable plugged in), and all of the things it can do in your smart home setup, it's nothing short of phenomenal. And I can't say how AMAZING this thing sounds! Even at low volumes, the music sounds so alive and clear. But if you turn this thing up, this thing can really shake a room. The bass is so powerful, but not muddy, and the mids and highs just sing right over top of that rich bass. No matter where you place it in your house, it will always sound its best because it always adjusts the sound to your space. (I would love to someday, but I don't want to get evicted!) I'm so glad I picked this up. No other wireless smart speaker sounds as good; to me it sounds better than the Apple HomePod, and it does so much more as well. You won't be disappointed if you pick this bad boy up (from time to time it goes on sale, or Google bundles extra Home Minis with it, so really take advantage of those opportunities). Highly recommended!
