A little better than the competition.

I don’t want to suggest that competing products are intrinsically inferior to this product, but I did try out 4 different makes of mesh systems in my home and found the Google Nest AC 2200 three pack somewhat better than the competition in my home. The mesh systems I tried were the Netgear Orbi AC 3000 two pack, the Amazon eero 6 four pack, the TP Link Deco S 4 four pack and the Google Nest. All systems were comparable in price, around $ 250, during the Cyber Monday sale window, except for the TP Link system which cost about $ 180. I would consider these systems mid range mesh systems, not entry level ones. What I found is that none of the four named systems, all of which claimed 5000 to 6000 square ft of coverage, actually covered my 3000 square ft L shaped home with uniform speeds across the home. I got about 160-200 MBps in one half of my home and only 50-70 MBps in the far end of the other half of the house with these mesh networks. My subscription is 350 MBps and I get 120-160 MBps in one half and 30-50 MBps in the other half with just my router and extender. The three unit Google Nest based on the older AC 2200 standard gave me better speeds than even the four unit eero 6 mesh which is based on the newer Wi-Fi 6 standard, though the difference was not big: about 15 % better. Speed apart, the clincher for me was that the two Google extenders in the Nest pack came with built in speakers which could be used as network connected speakers to play streaming audio . Overall, the Google Nest was better in my layout but I wish I could get a true 5000 sq ft mesh with equal speeds across my whole home.

Amazing product! Better than Netgear

This is the best mesh point system that I have bought. We have Xfinity internet and our router can’t give the whole house internet as we have a big house. This 3 google nest mesh point system delivers to the whole house without dead spots and switches out device’s to the closest point. I have used netgear and I would always be connected to whatever point connected to my phone when I would get home and it would stay connected to that point until I was out of range. With the Google mesh points, the router points know basically where your device is and switches automatically so you have the best internet connection with fast speeds and no interruptions. As expected from Google

We got this router to replace our old one, which we have used for the past nine years. We were getting connection issues due to the size of our house.Although I was having difficulties getting this router set up initially (WAN settings are incorrect), after a factory reset by pressing the small grey button, until the green light turned solid, I unplugged and replugged it into the outlet. Bugs galore! Avoid if you actually want good wifi

I have since returned my units but have a few thoughts on Nest Wifi that need to be shared. Pros: Setup was easy and intuitive within the Google Home app. Various levels of settings were useful and allowed for moderate network manipulation for those needing to do things like address reservations and port forwarding. Cons: Bugs galore. Within 20 minutes of completing the setip and getting a good number of devices on the network, it became immediately obvious there were both speed degradation issues and poor connection strength issues. My space only 1200 sqft and with maximum of 1-2 walls between the router and the device. I pay for 750 down and up but would barely get 75mbps and that was standing right next to the primary router. The additional bug was that WiFi would constantly drop and require daily reboots of the network. I experienced this multiple times in the three days i had this setup. As an IT professional, the lack of proper firnware updates from Google and the poor experience of using and staying connected to the WiFi is simply unacceptable for a consumer level product at this price and from a company like Google. If you want reliable internet in your home and specifically need it to be a mesh network setup, use either TP-LINK Deco or Eero.

You'll want to make sure that the points aren't too far from the router, otherwise you won't have a good enough connection between the router and the points. You'll want to have your router somewhat centrally located in your house if you can. Unfortunately I can't do that in my house, so I had the router upstairs in my office on one end of the house, one point almost directly beneath in the kitchen (and with a clean line of sight to the family room/TV), and then one point in a corner of the master bedroom. It can take some time and experimentation to find the optimal points for your situation, even though setup itself of the system is fairly quick.With the new system, I was getting a better signal and speed at the TV. However, connection strength was still a bit spotty despite no obstacles in the way of the Wifi point. The TV would often connect to the 5 GHz signal, which tends to die off rapidly with distance. Sometimes the Google Home app would tell me that the connection between the TV and the Wifi point was only OK or even weak. I eventually opted to set up a MOCA adapter on my cable outlet instead (see my review of the ActionTec MOCA 2.5 Network Adapter at Best Buy).I'm still keeping the mesh system even though it didn't 100% solve my TV problem, as I like having the built in Google assistant, and the 3-pack does provide better coverage of my 2200 sq ft house than my old system did.If you get this, you'll most likely like it, but don't expect magic. The Wifi point signals are weaker than the router (the router provides up to 2200 sq ft of coverage, while the points only do 1600, and real world performance is going to be significantly less than these).Overall happy with it but nothing amazing.

Great mesh internet coverage, few setup hiccups

Honestly I would have preferred being able to buy these without the built-in microphone/voice assistance feature just out of privacy concerns, but being able to disable it manually on the hardware itself and see the LEDs on the bottom of the points change to Orange/Red to show the mic is disabled once you flip the switch is handy.The biggest negative I have for these was that the setup was not flawless, and even required me to reach out to support as it wasn’t anything that could be fixed through standard troubleshooting like power cycling or doing a factory reset and redoing the network setup from scratch.The other issue I had was trying to add my old google wifi units as access points since their documentation notes the old ones could still be used as long as you didn’t try to exceed their recommended “limit” of having no more than 5 access points connected to a single router. After factory resetting the older units and trying to add them to the mesh network, I noticed considerable issues with signal degradation as it seemed like it was actually introducing interference rather than boosting signal coverage in other areas of the house. The new Google Home app that lets you control/monitor your network is pretty good overall as well, aside from returning a lot of “Unnamed Device” names for the hardware found on our network - I don’t recall the old “Google Wifi” app having the same issue.Slight negatives aside, I am still quite pleased with the newer Google Nest Wifi mesh router and access points - the speeds are solid, they transmit fairly well throughout the walls and home in general, and aside from the initial setup hiccups, they’ve been performing flawlessly ever since. Overall, I’d highly recommend the Nest Mesh router/points system and since the rating system doesn’t allow it, I’d note that if possible I’d give this one 4.5 stars out of 5.

Not a great 1st impression...

I've had this about a week, and so far, not that impressed and debating on whether to return this and go back to Deco by TP Link. Only reason I was shopping for another system was because my quality of service appeared to be degrading with the Deco set. Now I'm not so sure it was Deco!I've used mesh routers/points before - my previous product was the TP Link M9 Deco. So far, in terms of ease of use and value, the M9 Deco is superior. My Internet started out as glitchy on Monday evening and completely out by late Monday night. I'll give it another week or so to determine if it was just initial hiccups. Not feeling optimistic, though.

The Nest Wi-Fi Routers Do Not Last

We've had the Nest Wifi Router with multiple access points for about three years now and we are on our third router. The last held out a little longer than our first but failed in the last week. They don't fail outright, what you see is they start to drop wifi and then pick back up, drop again, and pick back up. These symptoms get progressively worse until you get fed up with things not working.The first time around, Google Support was not helpful in finding a fix after a few days of troubleshooting. The diagnostics were somewhat helpful; enough for me to determine it was a hardware issue after checking with my ISP. Way better than expected

Besides the amazing bargain I’d paid for this through Bing Lee, this WiFi mesh is amazing!In areas of my house that we’re topping out at 5mbps (main reason for buying this), are now hitting the max 90, per my current plan. Amazing!One important and impressive note that I never would’ve picked up on is, although I have a 90mbps data plan, I was only could ever getting 30, max. But once the Google mesh was was all hooked up, it notified me that my Ethernet cable (Fibre to Router) was inhibiting my internet speeds. I picked up a $6 CAT6 cable from Jaycar and voila! Max 90mbps speeds through my entire place!
