In the 10+ years of being exclusively an Android user, every Android phone I've ever owned has been plagued with issues. Data loss was a frequent occurrence. Data migration always missed files when moving to a new device. Support was always a painful experience.My experience with my most recent Google device, the Pixel 3a, was no different than any other Android phone I've ever owned: Spectacularly frustrating.So after 10+ years of being an Android user, I'm done.The Pixel 3a is the last Android phone I'll ever own.I bought an iPhone 13 as a replacement, and it's spectacularly good. I'm very happy to have made the switch.

I highly recommend this if you don't want to shell out for a flagship but don't want the pitfalls of a mid-range device.

OLED saves battery, it looks amazing with dark mode, and it's much crisper than LCD. The ultra HD resolution (2200x1400 or something close) means everything on this phone's screen is unbelievably crisp looking, especially for this price point.Battery life is good. Whole day without charge with moderate to heavy usage. This is pretty consistent with previous phones I've had so I can't judge how good it is tbh.One other downside is the lack of SD card expansion. At only 64GB it's easy to fill this phone up with music, video, etc. I stream music but usually download playlists to save data so this is more of a me problem, but if you use up storage quickly, consider buying more cloud storage solutions.Lastly, this phone's size is everything I've wanted in a phone. It looks and feels modern and slick, but it has a very small, thin, and slim form factor that fits into pockets with ease.Overall, highly recommended.

Nice phone. Got it with Ubuntu Touch as UBPorts devices page shows everything working. Unfortunately, incoming texts arrive only some of the time (O2 monthly contract) and searching the web finds others with the same issue. Suggestions such as locking to 3G weren't permanent solutions for me so I wouldn't recommend this device for Ubuntu Touch despite what devices page says. I'm back on my old Nexus 5 ( which has video playback issues but at least works as a phone and is free of texting issues under Ubuntu Touch.

Please provide a simple app that allows you to see voicemail messages and play/pause/delete them OR similar to how I can see a transcript of a Google Assistant call's message by selecting the call, create a link to voicemail feature.Fix this and it is a 5-Star phone!

But if I use it lightly I've gone a full 48 hours without needing a charge.Cons:-I do miss having the Dolby Digital Surround Sound from my old ZTE but movies and videos do project decently loud.-On occasion I like to see the notification just to be aware of what's going on in my apps and then I'll clear them. I won't actually tap into the app. After the first couple of times of clearing notifications from any app, the OS will notice you clear these notifications often and ask if you want to see them anymore. I usually get this every few days for several apps like Facebook or the Play Store. Again a slight nuisance.-The notifications from the top tray can be difficult to get rid of sometimes. I'll get a notification from Facebook that someone posted to their story and if I know I'm not going to check that out, I'll swipe to clear that notification. I'd say about 50% of the time the notification comes right back. Super annoying.-The 18W charger doesn't charge the phone quite as rapidly as some phones out there with Qualcomm Quick Charge technology but I can usually get a full charge in around an hour.Obviously the phone is too new to know how long term battery life will hold up or how quickly lag will develop as a consequence of future versions of Android and as apps become more sophisticated. But for now this is a great phone especially for those that want a premium like phone on a budget.
I bought my wife this phone as a replacement for her former top-tiered phone (LG V30+). Specs are good, but I was worried about whether or not it would be a downgrade between her LG V30+ phone and this phone.It doesn't have as much storage memory and it does not have an SD card memory slot, but nevertheless she still enjoys the phone very much and says the Android operating system that comes with the phone allows her to play the Pokemon app with no issues as compared to her previous phone which would not allow her to use that app for some strange reason. Specs are good, but I was worried about whether or not it would be a downgrade between her LG V30+ phone and this phone.It doesn't have as much storage memory and it does not have an SD card memory slot, but nevertheless she still enjoys the phone very much and says the Android operating system that comes with the phone allows her to play the Pokemon app with no issues as compared to her previous phone which would not allow her to use that app for some strange reason. She has been using all of her apps without any issues whatsoever. The phone definitely delivers great performance, and at this special price of $279 you simply cannot find a better deal on a replacement phone or a phone for budget-minded people.I set the phone up for her quite easily as all you have to do is plug up the cable, which is supplied, between the old phone and the new phone and Android takes care of the rest. You do not have to have anyone from the store set anything up for you. The setup was streamless. Also, since it is an unlocked phone by Google, all of the necessary updates came in back-to-back and back-to-back. Thus making sure the phone's security is up-to-date and that it was successfully upgraded to Android 10 and all of its updates as well.Picture quality is very good. Screen resolution and colors are very good. Phone is very easy and comfortable to use in your hand. The Android assistant even notified my wife that there was a particular app monitoring the location of the phone and suggested that she turn it off if she desired to do so. Some applications need your location so that really wasn't a worry but it was a pleasure to know that the assistant has the owner's back.I would say with confidence that for $279 you're not going to find a better deal out there. The phone was manufactured by Qualcomm for Google. Qualcomm has been making chipsets for phones for many years and continues to do so successfully. Many phones out here actually have Qualcomm chips within them. I work in the RF engineering field so I can assure you I know what I'm talkin about, and I can assure you that the phone will not disappoint you. I'm not trying to say that it has all the fancy features of top-tier phones, nor am I trying to say it will outperform them, but what I am trying to say is that at this price point you can't go wrong. The phone was originally selling for $400. Do the math.Go for it.
Today was the last straw. My wife has a Samsung Galaxy S10. We were both sent group texts from my son announcing his newborn baby's name with a photo. She received her text. I did not receive mine. This has happened before, too. On our 2020 Forester, the phone's navigation app occasionally stops working. Imagine on a busy freeway the difficulty this creates. Luckily if my wife is in the car, she then navigates on her Galaxy S10 always without problems. I frequently find that its sound for receiving texts fails even after repeatedly checking notification settings.
