I was generally shocked at just how nice the Google Pixel 7 phone is at the price this point. As someone who has been on iOS since smartphones came out, I was proud of how fast I was able to adapt to Android in just a matter of minutes. Having a Google email account already made setting up the Pixel 7 a breeze. Since I'm using this phone strictly as a work phone, and having all my contacts already tied to my Gmail made importing all my contacts super easy and convenient. And having to ability to change setting like resolution right from the camera app and not having to go to the settings app, is nice quality of life addition,Another cool camera feature that I accidentally stumbled upon is the “Google Lens” feature, where if you take a picture of a product box it will then analyze the box and show you youtube videos of it or take you to where you can purchase the item directly. A really cool feature that I can see myself using a lot when it comes to things like price matching, finding an item in stock or watching a Youtube review on a product before buying it. Another one of my favorite little things about the haptic feedback when typing is that it almost feels like typing on a physical keyboard and I notice myself making a lot less typing errors with this keyboard than other phone keyboards. I only cons I’ve really had with this phone is the placement of the wake/power button being right above the volume rocker buttons, where I have accidentally hit the wake button multiple times when trying to turn the volume up, where I guess this will go away over time when I get better muscle memory of the location but just a minor inconvenience. Also, I also highly recommend putting a case on this phone because of the glass back for protection and fingerprints just cover the back real easy.So, overall you can’t go wrong with the Google Pixel 7, where you get a top end phone for a fraction of the price compared to the other phones on the market.

The images are sharp and the colors are accurate. While I predominantly use the main shooter, the wide angle with macro mode and the telephoto lens are great to have. The photos in daylight are wonderful, but where the Pixel truly differentiates itself is in lowlight situations. The ability for night sight to pick up colors and details barely visible to the naked eye is seriously impressive. The additional AI features with the camera, such as magic eraser and unblur, are also nice additions.The Pixel 7 Pro is a nice looking phone that feels well made. I typically opt for black phones, but I really like the Hazel color to change things up. While looks are important, comfort is more so. Google chose rounded edges that make the phone comfortable to hold rather than straight sides with sharp edges that make it uncomfortable in the hand like my previous phone.The screen is large, sufficiently bright, and the curved glass give it a nice feel. Speaking of feel, I was concerned that the phone's size would mean I wouldn't be able to use it with one hand, but its slim and rounded design actually mean I mostly use it with one hand for things like web browsing and typing.As for the operating system, I am a big fan of Android and the attention Google pays to user experience, with its customizability and excellent notifications system. However, it would be nice if there was an option to remove the search bar from the bottom of the home screen, but this is not a big deal.Setup and moving all of my apps, messages, photos, calendar, etc from my old device to the Pixel was very straightforward and quick, allowing my to be up and running on it in about 20 minutes.The battery lasts me a full day with average use, as expected, and the charging speed is about average. Improving the battery life and supporting higher-speed charging are areas for improvement, but the current battery life and charging speed do not take away from the experience.I understand Google did not design the Tensor 2 chip to be the most powerful mobile processor on the market, but I have found it to perform well in day-to-day use, such as rendering websites and moving between apps. I am not a gamer, so I cannot comment on how it performs in that regard.In all, I am very pleased with the Pixel 7 Pro and foresee getting years of use out of it.

My TV didn't appear as an available device under the "cast" list of available devices. My wife's Samsung Galaxy found it immediately. Issue #2 - I play CoD:M on my phone a few times a week. There is something related to the video on the Google that was never an issue on Samsung. Every time the game launches the visible screen shrinks to about 2/3 of the actual screen size and a button appears in the lower right with the message "tap here to relaunch app in full screen". I do that ... every time ... But the even more confounding glitch is that the button remains on the screen after it relaunches in full screen mode. Here's why that's a problem: The lower right corner of a game screen always contains primary controls to the game, since that is where your right thumb is located. With this unmovable "relaunch" button sitting in that space, I accidentally relaunch the app two or three times a week, in the middle of intense gameplay. VERY frustrating to have to be continuously conscious of a button that doesn't need to even exist, other than for the reason that the phone won't automatically launch the game in full screen mode when you start it. One more that pops to mind is a rarity for me but may be frequent for the photographers out there. One of the big marketing points of the Pixel is the camera and associated editing software. When my daughter pulled out her Samsung the other night and snapped a picture of the full moon in crisp enough detail to see the larger features on the surface, I thought I'd put the Pixel Power to the test and show her a thing or two ... LOLI was mistaken. The camera couldn't zoom in as close, couldn't compensate for the glare off the moon, and couldn't get a good focus. My daughter got a picture of the moon and I got a picture of a big, white, nondescript ball in the sky. Very disappointing. I will work around these minor issues for the life of the phone, since it does do everything I need it to do, but when it's time to trade in, I'm going back to Samsung.

Yes, this is a lot of money to spend just for a calling feature, but once I experienced it there is no way I am going back to calling anyone from a non Pixel device.That feature aside, this phone has a fantastic camera just like the iPhone, so I am indifferent to camera performance.The swipe from the side gesture to navigate back takes some time to get used to, but now I miss that gesture on the iPhone.The phone itself feels delicate even though it is built very sturdy, so I ordered a cheap kickstand case for it that makes the phone super grippy and it now feels like a tank in my hands.I love the face unlock and fingerprint unlock on the phone that makes it easy to use while wearing a mask.I also have a Pixel watch that works great with this phone.Battery life is way more than adequate, and I typically have about 30% left over after 24 hours of using the phone fairly heavily.Everything is smooth. There is a scrolling problem in the default configuration, but it goes away by toggling off the "Use graphic driver preferences" setting in developer options.The one annoyance is that the font sizing is not uniform across the device. Fonts are either too big or too small, and I have tried just about every combination of font and display size. The Samsung user interface in comparison is a lot better with font sizing. One star taken away for this annoyance.

Due to my age, I finally decided to move to a "big" phone, after swearing I would never get one. My eyes have thanked me. The screen is very bright and sharp. It has met every function that I want a mobile phone to perform. Calls are clear, and the improved "On Hold" handling service is pretty useful. You can seriously use up tons of time editing and tweaking your pictures to your heart's content. I like the improved zoom capability. I will say that the camera seems to perform better in light conditions, I wasn't super impressed with straight up Night Sight on the 7 at first, and some of its choices taking pictures of Christmas light displays were downright odd, but I have been able to figure out how to make adjustments, and sometimes it does better with Time Lapse, you just have to kind of work with it. The Magic Eraser functionality is, really, about as close to "magic" as technology gets, you will have a blast playing with it. I have not noticed issues with battery life that others have noted, I've never come close to depleting mine in the course of a day, but I'm not really a power user either. The only downside I have noticed with the phone so far is something that, really, Google has always, to my mind, had issues with the Pixels, and that seems to be memory management. Apps will swap in and out too frequently for my taste, and every so often (certainly not frequent, but enough that I have taken note), I have had issues where apps that have behaved perfectly will suddenly either stop working or just sort of freeze up. A restart always seems to fix it. I think this is just something Google needs to work on in general, but I'm a little disapointed that they haven't seemed to make much progress in that area yet.

Really, the only downside I can see is that they've moved from the physical fingerprint reader on the back of the phone to a reader integrated into the screen which does WORK, but it isn't as faster usable as the ones that are built into the back. The face recognition is usable, but I tend to keep it off since it is less secure than other options.All in all, if you don't mind a slight downgrade in the fingerprinter reader (very slightly), then this could be a just the update you've been waiting for!

The Pixel 7 Pro is also devoid of any bloatware that carriers or manufacturers may add to other devices. The screen itself is remarkably clear and bright and doesn't ghost. The response time of the screen may be less than some other devices, but it was plenty fine for me. There are reviews talking about how the battery is unimpressive - I'm not sure what those reviewers were doing but if you use your phone for work (e.g., Outlook, Teams) and personal (e.g., Instagram, Reddit, texting) - I can tell you I get about 18-20 hours of life before needing to charge it. Also another cool set of features is how you unlock the phone - you can set it up to recognize your face or if you're wearing a mask or something you can also use the under screen fingerprint reader. Both ways of unlocking your phone are fast and I find it convenient to be able to use the finger print reader as I travel often and sometimes that requires wearing a mask. Overall, I've truly been impressed by this phone. I tried hard to think of something negative to say since everything above is so positive but I couldn't think of any complaints. I truly enjoy using this phone and recommend it highly to anyone in the market for a phone that is feature rich that will bring some enjoyment to your life in an area that's been stagnant for some time.

Would most certainly recommend this bad boy, but as always, do your research first and make sure it fits your needs and budget accordingly. There is no SD card, but I believe it has the option for 2 SIM cards instead. Cases and protectors are a bit limited for the PP7, so do keep that in mind going forward as well. Biometrics work well most of the time, and facial recognition is okay at best in my experience.
