This is my second purchase buying an Otterbox and I am never disopointed. Never has a case offered so much protection and without sacrificing hand-held comfort. The cases are never clunky and ungainly once applied to your phone. A bit tricky to put on for the first time but once its one, its on! Would not trust any other brand.Purchased this case for my new Google Pixel and it fits perfectly. Unfortunately, mine came with a noticeable mar on the clear screen cover side of my case. I bought this case after having one on my old phone for over 3 years. The old phone looked brand new when it was taken out. I picked out the blue/grey combo this time for the Pixel 5 and have issues when using the camera and flash. The blue case leaves a blue hue in the picture. After taking the phone out of the case it's not there. This is my first colored case other than black and it's a big issue. I like finding my phone easier, but HATE the camera issues. I intend to contact Otterbox after receiving excellent customer service so far. Recommend the case, but not the color with this phone's super bright flash.

I ordered this OtterBox case for my new silver Pixel. Before the Pixel I had a SamSung Proclaim (3.5 inch screen, barely worked, etc) When I decided that I really needed a new phone and decided on the Pixel, I decided that in my line of work, a newspaper courier and magazine distributor, I needed a good case. I am planning on getting a Bluetooth headset and utilizing the belt clip in the future, but I cannot comment presently on the belt holster. The case (I chose black due to newspaper ink) fits perfectly. It is not easy to take off, but that is the point. The cases I'd used before on the Proclaim would not hold together and I grew weary of having to put them together all the time so I eventually just stopped using a case altogether. What I really like about this ... MoreI ordered this OtterBox case for my new silver Pixel. The cases I'd used before on the Proclaim would not hold together and I grew weary of having to put them together all the time so I eventually just stopped using a case altogether. What I really like about this case is adds grip. It adds a bit of bulk (I do not use my pockets to hold my phone, so keep that in mind) and a lot of texture. The cutouts are perfect. The screen protector on mine fits flush against the screen. I have no problems typing out swyping or anything. The biggest problem I have is my own fault; my hands get dry from the newspaper ink and the screen doesn't respond well. After I put on sooner lotion and moisturize my hands, the phone works perfectly in and out of the case. I am s bit concerned about the charging port cover and the headphone port cover. I'm a little afraid that they may press to hard on the cords and they may wear out the ports and may eventually render them unusable. I do not know if this could happen, it is only speculation at this point. It does do a good job of keeping dust from getting inside the ports or even on the screen. I wish there were other dark colors (dark blue, dark purple, etc) so I could eventually change the cases out, but I do love this case. My case does not block the microphone, camera, or speakers. I know some Pixels were having microphone malfunctions, but at this time, everything is fine on mine. For those that have had a microphone issue, contact Google. They will replace your Pixel. A couple of more things to note... I rest my phone on it's bottom a lot. This will cover up the speaker and muffle the sound. Not a defect of the case, but of the way the phone is made. I will say the cutout and groove for the fingerprint scanner on the back makes it way easier to find the scanner. Without the case, I have to move my fingers aground a bit (I do have long fingers.) Like I said, the case adds a little bulk so my hand doesn't travel quite as far around the back with it, and the cutout held my finger find the scanner with ease. I do not have any regrets. I have yet to drop this phone but it seems like it will be very protected. I would offer a suggestion about adding a place for a wriststrap. I use my phone as a camera quite a bit, not to mention if my hands are full, I could use the wriststrap. All in all, I am very happy with my purchase. Thank you OtterBox!

I bought this for my phone first day out of the box.. first thing I noticed was the screen protector wasn't tight against the screen, so you need to press extra hard to type and scroll - that's probably the most annoying aspect of the case. Also I noticed scratches on the back of the phone, on the bottom left and right of the glass piece under the camera... Don't know how my phone got scratched inside the case, very annoying. But other than that, typical OtterBox issues are persistent.. dust getting under the screen and the rubber on the charging port does not feel durable, and will most likely will get ragged out. I need to clean the dust under the screen protector 2 times a week.TL:DRLowest quality OB case yet, scatched back of my phone while in the case, ... I was excited to get my Google pixel and then I realized that I needed a case because it's not exactly cheap. Otterbox always gets brought up when I asked around for a 'sturdy phone case' then there are a lot of youtube vids showing how phones are dropped and whatnot. I've had my case now for a few months and it is awesome. I personally rarely drop my phone to begin with but so far it's been dropped twice (from ~2 feet/hip height) and nothing. I was also concerned about the case itself becoming gross (dirt and makeup) or scratched...nothing. My only CON is that it took me over 10-15 minutes to get that freaking thing opened in order to put my phone in when I first got it. I have nails so I can't imagine how anybody else without nails managed. But I would assume that ... Not a bad case. The rubber outer shell is comfortable while retaining good grip characteristic. The screen protector is the best I've ever used. Built in to the inner shell, crystal clear and retains good touch and swipe sensitivity. I guess it's pretty protective, although I hope not to be dropping this spiffy new Pixel. One thing I might change is to have the rubber shell be an inner shell like the Ballistic cases, which have been my favorites. I think the drop protection might improve with a rubber inner shell and a hard case that snaps around it. But I guess that you'd lose the screen protector doing that. Anyhow, yes this appears to be a good case.
I have two main points for this phone case. One, the protection is just as high quality as with my previous Defender Otter Box cases. Two, however, with the adaptation of this design to the Google Pixel phone, a ton of handy features I really liked are gone or not as good as before. On the aspect of phone protection, this case is just fine as was the ones I had for my Samsung S5. There really is nothing about the protection aspect for me to say since it just works well and has left me with no issues or points to talk about. Personally, it's made me feel like I can actually use my Google Pixel phone, what with its no water proofing and extremely slippery "premium materials" composition. Personally, it's made me feel like I can actually use my Google Pixel phone, what with its no water proofing and extremely slippery "premium materials" composition. With the case I went from carrying my phone around in its box to being able to drag it everywhere and even toss it about with little extra regard. In addition, the customer support from Otter Box has been great, what with warranty replacements from my old cases that wore out in a year and getting money back from sales after I purchased cases.------------------------------However, this case being specifically made for the Google Pixel has left me with a bunch of features missing that I didn't even think of when I bought this case. This has made the case much more frustrating to use than my previous version in ways I have not liked at all.1st: The clip-on latch point for the belt clip/front protector part of the case is not halfway up the phone body.I didn't even think of this when I bought the case because it has been that way on every other Defender case I have seen. This causes the really annoying problem where the phone will only fit in the case 2 of 4 ways. Literally 1/2 the time I go to put the clip on the phone and it's not lining up and I have to turn it around. Then about a 1/4 of the time I think I did it wrong because of the clip not closing easily. This was a completely non-present issue for my S5 case, leaving me with muscle memory that does not work well with this new case.I know that it is the phone's button placements that stop the case from latching in the center like all other Defender cases models I've seen. However, It would have been really nice if there were something like 2 latching points (one right in between the buttons and one equidistant on the other side of the phone). This way the phone case would not have lost functionality in this really annoying way.2nd: There is no way to get to the fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone with the belt clip in place.I have learned to always keep the belt clip on the back of the phone case, often using it for a stand, clipping to a belt, or just holding it easily. However this is really counter-thesis to the Google Pixel, because the quickest and easiest way to wake your phone the fingerprint sensor on the back. With that blocked off and there being no front facing buttons on the phone, it leaves only the power button to turn on the phone, which requires a pass code in my case. This is just bothersome because I'm paying so much for this phone just to have features blocked off if I want it to be protected enough to be a use-able phone by my standards.I am still actively considering just drilling a hole through the belt clip part of the case because its useful to have the belt clip on and its really annoying to take the phone in and out of the clip due to the first issue.3rd: Shoulders on belt clip opposite of the ones the phone nestles into are too small. On my S5 Defender case, the two corners that the phone did not slide into were big enough that it matched the size of the latch on the side of the phone. This way, when the belt clip was used as a stand these three points would keep the phone level. Now however, this case only rests on the latch, which is not in the center of the phone (1st issue). This leaves the whole phone tilted at an angle when used as a stand.I know I can just rotate the clip and use the case the other way where the sides are level, however then this hides the volume and power buttons against the table. Combine this with the fact that I have to use it this way , since I can't flip the phone around due to the off center latch(1st issue), now I have no access to wake the phone from any means since the fingerprint sensor (2nd issue) and power button is hidden, and this design is a mess. The features of the case are specifically designed so that the only way you can use it is in one of a few different non-ideal states.------------------------------Overall, while the protection quality of this case is the same as before, so are a lot of the component designs with it, with slight edits to make it functional on the Google Pixel. Its these alterations that don't add well and have many issues that I would have thought would not have gotten out of the designing of the case. That's why it really seems to me that this was just old case designs reapplied to a new phone without enough planning for how the needed small changes would ruin the nuanced features of the design.Maybe that was all just due to the release schedule of Google and the time it gave Otter Box to get the case out there, but I really wanted to get a case that would help me like this phone, instead of disliking it even more. Thanks a lot,
This is my second Otterbox, well worth using. When I upgraded my phone I switched to a Google Pixel. Great phone, but it felt far too slippery in my hands and I didn't want to run the risk of dropping it because ...well... life.Grippy where it needs to be, solid in construction, I trust the phone will not drop. And, if it does, I can trust the phone will remain intact. And because life happens, sure enough the phone dropped on the driveway as I was getting into the car. No dings, no breaks, no screen damage.Maybe the only feature I might add would be the tempered glass screen protector to be used in concert with the Otterbox. But, I don't know...
I absolutely love this case. I had an Otterbox on a previous model phone and liked it (it was the Commuter series) but it was a little bulky. When I got my new Pixel, I got talked into buying a sleek case at the phone store and I stupidly thought that it would be fine. I proceeded to drop my phone a couple times on my cement garage floor and had to have it replaced once. Decided I needed another Otterbox case so I ordered this Defender Series case and love it! Super thankful I switched to another Otterbox as I just knocked my phone off my standing desk! Phone is totally fine! It is not super sleek but it protects like nothing else! Also - love the color as it stands out better in my purse or workout bag, My husband ordered the black one and love it too!
I was pleased that I received my Otterbox order the same day my Pixel did! This was coincidence of course, but appreciated the timely shipping in contrast to Google's. I was a little confused on how to open my Otterbox, but it fine once I figured out all the contraptions.I have long nails and it's still it's hard for me sometimes to take it out of the inner shell if I want to clean the screen from residual debris, etc. However, I do appreciate how secure and safe my Pixel is at all times. I also immensely love the screen protector it comes with!!! I'm glad I didn't have to buy a separate phone screen protector like I used to with my iPhones.I recommend this one hundred times over the Commuter series due to the screen protector. Totally worth the extra ... MoreI was pleased that I received my Otterbox order the same day my Pixel did! This was coincidence of course, but appreciated the timely shipping in contrast to Google's.
