It’s a great selfie stick that splits into a tripod. I’ve definitely found it useful on my trip and I’m looking forward to using it again. Only thing I’d keep in mind is that I’m not sure if it’s rated for use in water. I’m quite certain it will not float so if you do take it in the ocean make sure you hold onto it.Just make sure when you twist it to adjust the length you don’t over torque it otherwise it can seize and you won’t be able to adjust it.

One of the worst tri-pods I've ever used. Unfortunately, it would often unlatch from the poll and drop which would happen frequently when taking selfies and even worse during video recordings which ruins the video you are recording. I would expect something of far better quality from GoPro. Look elsewhere for your tri-pod.

On the whole this is a fantastically useful addition to the GoPro MAX. You can use it as a simple hand-grip, or extend it about a meter to get the max up above your head or out in front of you. Because the mount is aligned with the axis of the pole and tripod feet it pretty much disappears into the stitch line. Even if you use it as a tripod, although it is visible in the image, it is not at all distracting. The pole extends easily and locks with a quarter turn, so it is very quick and efficient to operate. Unfortunately, the one big flaw is that the hard plastic conveys vibrations to the camera, so if you aren't careful you can get a lot of handling noise.
