Gran Turismo 7 Standard Edition - PlayStation 5

Delivering the best with the return of classic cars, iconic tracks, and fan-favorite modes like GT Simulation. The cultural environment surrounding cars has changed greatly in the past 25 years. Those of us who were born in the rich car culture of the times created the first Gran Turismo game, so it may be difficult for the current generation of automotive purists to be in the same type of cultural environment as ourselves back then. The objective for GT7 in current culture today is to design a game to convey everything from the last 150 years of car and racing culture, whether you are a lifelong fan or discovering cars for the first time. GT7 is the culmination of the series which answers the expectations of GT fans throughout the years and at the same time, it is a title that marks a beginning of a difficult mission to contain the full breadth of car culture from the past into a single video game.

This is a really fun game to play with realistic racing mechanics. It is really focused on realism rather than flashiness. Games like Forza or GTA are more about the glitzier stuff, like crazy racing stunts or high-end sports cars, whereas GT7 is more grounded and really makes all kinds of vehicles shine (not just high-end sports cars) by telling you about the history and culture around each car. It is a game about racing as well as collecting all kinds of cars from around the world and learning about them, which I really like. It has made me build an appreciation for cars generally, including more everyday ones.My one critique is the lack of a free roam mode is super disappointing, especially since more car games are including this. One thing that helps with this a bit is the photo mode, which allows you to choose from a huge collection of sets around the world and pose, photograph, and edit different shots of cars. I LOVE this feature so much. But I wish there were more things to do like this outside of racing on the courses.

Gran Turismo 7 25th anniversary edition is THE racing game that every PS5 owner should have in their collection.
14 October 2022

Not only is this edition of GT 7 encased in a beautiful steelbook, but it has code inside the packaging that gets you off to a necessary start to the game. With the 25th anniversary edition, you will automatically be granted enough credit to get started with some fancy cars. The first car I bought after I finished the introductory stage was a Porsche 911 Turbo. I heard from a friend that he bought the standard edition of the game and hes still driving a Prius lol. If you like steelbooks and special editions of games, than you wont want to miss Gran Turismo 7 25th anniversary edition for PS5. With that youll be riding in style without all the grinding. Dont be confused. This is the realest driving experience available on the PlayStation 5. See you on the race track!

Huge Disappointment
3 June 2023

I just recently got into racing games. I prefer racing casually, as my 50+ year old reflexes are not what they used to be. I started with Gran Turismo Sport, which I really enjoyed.I then started playing GT7 when it came out. Thus far (June 3, 2023), this game is a HUGE disappointment. The racing seems no better than GT Sport, and the in-game economics COMPLETELY SUCK.Let's start off with the daily marathon rewards: no guaranteed car as a reward. You get a stupid "roulette ticket" of one to five stars. The higher the level of the ticket, the better the reward. I disagree. I don't want parts for cars that I don't want to own, nor will ever purchase. I don't want an "invitation" to purchase a car that costs millions of in-game currency. Give me either in-game ... MoreI just recently got into racing games. I prefer racing casually, as my 50+ year old reflexes are not what they used to be. Give me either in-game currency or a car. At least now I can sell the cars I'm not interested in owning. Now just give me the opportunity to sell the parts I don't want.I don't particularly like having to "pay" for oil changes and car washes. Stupid. Just stupid.I don't like how the world is laid out by continent and tracks, instead of simply showing the racing series like in GT Sport. The car selection is better, though.Overall, the game isn't better enough than GT Sport to be much fun.

Local multiplayer is not as good as older games
17 January 2023

Grand Turismo is what got me into console gaming when the original PlayStation came out. I played that game for the better part of 2 years as a kid. I was ecstatic when I finally managed to get a PS5 so I could play GT7 “the way it was meant to be played”. I wish I’d just gotten it for PS4 some time ago.Unless there is something I’m missing, playing split screen in this game is pathetic. You get a very limited selection of playable cars, none from the cars you unlock/buy as you play the campaign. I have no desire to race my buddy in a stock Focus ST. If I did, I’d just do that in real life. And you have to have an internet connection to do a local multiplayer race. The big issue with this game for me is needing an internet connection in general to play anything ... MoreGrand Turismo is what got me into console gaming when the original PlayStation came out. And you have to have an internet connection to do a local multiplayer race. The big issue with this game for me is needing an internet connection in general to play anything aside from a very limited selection of cars in arcade races that don’t count for anything nor are recorded/saved.You cannot play ANY of the single player campaign without an internet connection. While this may not be an issue for most people, if you have spotty internet, you can literally be kicked out of a race seconds from finishing because your connection went out (and stayed out long enough to trigger that). This is extremely annoying when you’re on lap 20 of a 20 lap endurance race on the Nurbringer Ring. And why I only give this game 3 stars. The gameplay is generally good, the way they do the campaign is a bit silly, but if you really like cars and the history surrounding some classic and iconic cars, they do a decent job of giving you that. It doesn’t feel too grindy to make money and purchase ever better cars and upgrades. Just make sure you have solid internet when you go to play.

Outstanding Game

One of the best driving games right out of the box. Absolutely no jerkiness or skipping anywhere - fluid is the operative word.PS5 controller is incredible, with steering set to angle of controller, it is super smooth and easy to control. Plenty of options for accelerator and brake - right stick was my choice. The feedback in the controller is impressive - running over curbs, can feel the rumble. The idea of sound from the controller is pretty unnecessary - starting beep is the only real sound from there.Graphics are so darn impressive. Lots of details around the tracks, road detail is impressive (easy to see wet and dry track and worn in driving line). Lots of details around the tracks, road detail is impressive (easy to see wet and dry track and worn in driving line). Cars can be customized in just about any way you can imagine (paint, wheels, spoilers, body kits), with go faster parts. And when on track or seeing that car anywhere, all those customized bits show up.The whole cafe with menu cards is fun to learn driving, the game, collecting cars, and getting money to buy more cars and upgrade parts (the things that really do make a car go faster). There's an amazing array of cars to choose from - Tesla Model S (2014 Signature Performance, including two colors only made for a very short time, green and brown) is even in there. Car detail is really well done. And they nail the car sound rather well - Tesla makes essentially no noise while running, just tire squeal. Although they got the torque curve and acceleration a bit off. But that's picking nits. This is a really fine racing game. I guess if you get heavy into it, racing at the way higher end and on line, a wheel and pedals might be necessary. But so far - I'm 39 cafe menus into the game - I don't feel the need for a wheel. There are a ton of things to adjust and tweak. In the beginning finding the right combination of controller assists is important, and then when to drop those assists as you get better at driving (there was even a point where the game told me to turn something off). Figuring out suspension tweaks has a very steep learning curve. The in game help screens are a bit confusing because the words don't translate exactly to a setting (the on line manual is a bit better at help).A really fun driving game, at some gorgeous tracks (not as many iconic tracks as I would like - a lot missing from the US), with incredibly beautiful cars, that helps you along to finally getting a super license for FIA racing.

I play with a wheel and pedals on PS5. GT7 is excellent, and the nostalgia is real. It looks fantastic, the physics are deep yet very manageable and there are lots of cars to race and tracks to race on. There are also many objectives to tick off that keep rewarding you with new things. I am aware of all the micro-transaction complaints, and there is some merit to these. Low credit payouts in many races means it can take a long time behind the wheel to purchase some of the classic and high performance cars. However, this does add to the scarcity of these cars and the satisfaction of buying them once you save up credits. I’m torn, it’s a love/hate situation. When I found out GT7 was monetizing cars with real money purchases I vowed never to get it. I’ll never support games charging more money for things I already paid for when buying the game in the first place. I’ll never pay money to NOT PLAY the game, which means I’ll earn all the cars the old fashioned way…actually playing the game. In protest of Sonys terrible decision I wanted to give 1 star or never buy it. However…When I saw this game in VR it was amazing. Total game changer. This will convert people who are in the fence about VR or have little interest, best experience I’ve had in VR. I would give 5 stars for this mode alone! There you have it, how I reached a 3 star review, LOVE what they did with micro transactions but ... MoreI’m torn, it’s a love/hate situation.
