Rockstar Games once again invites players to "explore their inner criminal" with this release of Grand Theft Auto III for the PlayStation 2 console. This violent, mission-based driving game has the player resuming the role of a cold-hearted street thug making his way up the ladder of underworld gangs and organized crime. With over 50 different types of vehicles on the busy city streets, sports cars to SUVs, taxi cabs to 18-wheelers, and even ambulances and cop cars all there for the taking, a wide variety of outlaw adventures awaits. The setting of Liberty City is made up of three districts and in all, Grand Theft Auto III offers 72 different missions, many of which can be played in any order. As the player's character completes jobs available in one part of the city, other areas and assignments open up to him. Along with this purposeful design of a non-lineal storyline, many other features popular in earlier versions of the game return in this release as well, including a diverse variety of deadly weapons, busy streets full of self-involved pedestrians, and eight different radio station soundtracks to listen to while inside the vehicles.

GTA San Andreas holds up as a decent game. The graphics are notably different from GTA3 and GTA vice city, and Rockstar certainly learned from their past games. One difference is the detail. The map is a lot bigger than the maps on the last two games. There are mountainous regions, farms, woods, etc. This is the first game you can fly planes and parachute. Rockstar also borrowed from Sims as you can not only customize your character by purchasing clothes and going to the gym(which will make your character larger and more muscular) But you can for the first time have girlfriends and take them on dates. This game paved the way for gta 5, set in the same city/area of San Andreas.

well this review comes in at 2022, considering how old the game is and the fact that LCDs make old games look pixelated and just so much worse since old monitors and tvs were tubes and gas. Although I love Leds TV and monitors just no for really old games. its a ps2 game, event though amazing at the time and a needed historical mark which without todays games would NOT be as amazing as they are. Playing GTA san adreas reminded me that I still would have liked my old save of the game, and I found out that Samul L Jackson voice was used as one of the cops in the beginning of the game. The game runs good, but its amazing how if I remembered the game and how it is now. GTA 5 is just SO MUCH MORE. and in GTA SA didnt understand the fixation of that tiny st. of THAT dead ... Morewell this review comes in at 2022, considering how old the game is and the fact that LCDs make old games look pixelated and just so much worse since old monitors and tvs were tubes and gas. But the time and delivery for what i ordered was great.

Grand theft auto 3 is really was a work of art at the time. Fans of the series were used to the 2d overhead graphics in GTA, GTA London and GTA 2, so the series successful jump to 3d was widely praised. the graphical abilities of the Renderware engine enabled DMA Design to create a more detailed city and characters, which in part would make the story to be told in cutscenes instead in a block of text like in the previous enteries. Today the game holds up quite well gameplay wise but the graphics did not do so (but its easy to look pass that since the missions are still as awesome as they were back in 2001). Have this in mind if you want to buy this game. make sure it has the map and manual that it came with, its not important but its really neat have. 1. the ... MoreGrand theft auto 3 is really was a work of art at the time. Grand Theft Auto III is a 2001 open world action-adventure video game developed by DMA Design (now Rockstar North) in the United Kingdom, and published by Rockstar Games. It is the first 3D title in the Grand Theft Auto series. It was released in October 2001 for the PlayStation 2, May 2002 for Windows, in November 2003 for the Xbox and in November 2010 for OS X. It was made available on Steam on January 4, 2008[5] and on the Mac App Store on August 18, 2011. It was released on iOS and Android on December 15, 2011, and on the PlayStation 3 in September 2012. The game is preceded by Grand Theft Auto 2 and succeeded by Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. GTA III is set in modern Liberty City, a fictional metropolitan city based on New York City. The game follows the story of a criminal named Claude[a] who was betrayed by his girlfriend in a bank heist and begins to work his way up the crime ladder of the city before confronting her. GTA lll is composed of elements from driving games and third-person shooters. The game's concept and gameplay, coupled with the use of a 3D game engine for the first time in the series, contributed to Grand Theft Auto III's positive reception upon its release; it became 2001's top-selling video game[6] and is cited as a landmark in video games for its far-reaching influence within the industry.[7] GTA III's success was a significant factor in the series' subsequent popularity; as of 2008, five GTA prequels set before events in GTA III have been released, particularly Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories which revisits GTA III's setting just three years prior. GTA III's violent and sexual content has also been the source of public concern and controversy. According to Metacritic, GTA III and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 both hold an average critic score of 97 out of 100, making them the highest-rated PlayStation 2 games of all time.
If your like me & love retro games. Then you have to add this amazing title to your collection. Ground breaking at the time for open world gameplay. Rockstar has done wonders with this franchise & hopefully continue to push the mark higher & higher with each GTA release. In addition make sure to listen to the sound track its so 90s early 2000s. Enjoy!
GTA IV has a lot of driving as the title implies, and the driving... is bad. The lack of any traction makes any car driving a dumpster on ice. The characters, a few hours in, are mostly unlikable, or neutral; Niko, the player character, is the only one I've liked so far. The graphics still look okay in 2019 and my favorite bit is the amount of damage cars take, scrunching in an amount not matched even by demolition derby games. The atmosphere and colors really complement the story, which is what kept me playing for hours, to see where it went, mostly how Niko would rise up the ranks and where he'd end up. The shooting gameplay is servicable if a bit slow. If you wanted to get into GTA with cheaper titles than GTA V, I would recommend Vice City or San Andreas over ... MoreGTA IV has a lot of driving as the title implies, and the driving... is bad. It's about the same price as Vice City or San Andreas, too.
This game I can play for hours. My freedom with the character makes it a new fun game every time. The condition of the package looked great and the game played flawlessly. I will play with my kids to create new memories with retro gaming.
Came as described. Glad to be able to relive my younger years again. Price was pretty good compared to just a single copy of GTA3 new going for inexcusable prices! Get 3 new games for the price of one next gen game. :P
For a Counter Strike port to the console, this is about as good as it will get. It takes some time to get used to playing this with the controller if you are coming from a PC gaming world, but if you can find this game for cheap, it is worth it for the novelty at the least. The menus in this game are well designed, but the one thing that is odd is the HUD during gameplay. It has larger text that is not transparent, and sticks out like a sore thumb at first. There are no options to adjust the HUD either. Since there is no more Xbox Live for the original games, you won't be able to play online unless you used a third-party solution. There is LAN capability for a LAN party which is a nice feature to have. Even just with the bots, you will probably have a good time ... MoreFor a Counter Strike port to the console, this is about as good as it will get.
