Love my beers. I like to try different beers and I hadn’t tried this one before. Great taste and good deal!

Always love kicking back after a long week and crackin a cold Great Northern, watching the footy is incomplete if I don’t have one of the beauties. Absolutely would recommend as they are delicious. If you don’t like them, beer ain’t for you

So after a number of years on heavies (Carlton Draught) I dropped down to a mid-strength. First off, I tried going with Carlton Mids as it was the logical shift down from the Draughts.Unfortunately, though, it gave me gas. Like... a ridiculous amount of gas. So much gas, in fact, that I was awake half the night running to the toilet thinking I was going to destroy the porcelain only to let off what would have easily woken the neighbours in a panic thinking the apocalypse had begun. This might not sound impressive, though we're on an acreage and the closest neighbours are about 500 metres or so away.I did think this Gaseous Clay episode might've been a result of the large plate of barbecued meats I'd eaten for dinner, however it happened the next night, too. And the next. Carlton Mids had officially beaten my bowels. Then, as if the universe and I became one for a fleeting moment, I was in the local bottle-o and literally stubbed my toe on a Great Northern Super Crisp block that was sitting on the floor. I was intrigued, and as such purchased it.Well, ladies and gentlemen, hitting several of these in a last-ditch effort to get on the mids was precisely what was needed, and I can say with a sincere happiness that there was no bubble gut situation whatsoever between my head hitting the pillow and waking up to the gentle, pleasant aroma of bacon and eggs being cooked on the barbecue the following morning. That was 2 years ago, and I haven't looked back since.

I enjoy sitting back in my leather-bound recliner watching an episode of Antique Roadshow and wistfully pouring a glass of Great Northern beer in a nice 1930s Pilsener glass. The simple pleasures in life!
I used to be a Gold drinker but had to change. I would get a lot of indigestion after a session. For me there wasn't a lot of competition with taste and value for a mid strength beer. As soon as Great Northern hit the south east i tried it and never looked back. Very easy to drink and no indigestion. Can't drink gold now.
Reasonable taste. Not as good a flavour as Carlton mid but understand First Choice is not stocking Carlton mid stubbies any more
Bought these for my son in law when he was going to visit. Too expensive for me to buy normally. Have to settle for Hammer and Tongs. He couldn’t make the visit so I had to drink it before it spoiled. Tough job but someone had to do it. Things I do for my family. Anyhow was an opportunity to see how “ the other half “ live.
Great beer however breweries and retailers taking the p1ss at $60 a case when it’s mid strength and has much lower govt excise (tax) than full strength. Breweries and retailers all making massive profits. Eg you can buy SAB brewed Hammer Tongs from Vietnam for less than $40. Not quite my taste, but all that transport cost from Asia in a container and so much cheaper. Really?! Maybe time for home brew if I can cop the first few years of pre-perfection.
Have bought a few slabs / boxes now and still enjoy every mouthful.Great brew.. . . Cheers
bought this as it was recommended by a friend .i tried some on tab and in bottles and really liked the less bitter taste .so i bought the 30 pack of can's ,but i think they taste very tinny and really do not enjoy them but some mates will i hope .
