The G2420T Streamliner Hollow Body Single-Cut with Bigsby stands as a commanding instrument that merges vintage elegance with contemporary innovation. This guitar revitalises classic design elements whilst incorporating exciting new features to provide exceptional performance, sound, and style at remarkable value. Built for the modern guitarist who seeks something beyond ordinary, the G2420T creates the latest iteration of That Great Gretsch Sound! At its core lies a fully hollow arched maple body featuring parallel tone bars that generate rich fullness, deep resonance and authentic “big-body sound.” The guitar's sonic character comes from the new Broad'Tron BT-3S pickups, which utilise a combination of Alnico 5 and Alnico 2 magnets to deliver stronger mids, tight but full lows, and smooth clear highs that maintain musical presence throughout the frequency range. The Streamliner's tonal versatility is controlled through a traditional layout including neck and bridge pickup volume controls, master tone and volume controls, plus three-way pickup switching. A push/pull pot on the master volume adds coil-splitting capability, providing useful single coil sounds that expand the guitar's already impressive sonic arsenal for maximum musical flexibility.

I loved this guitar at first. It was absolutely gorgeous right out of the box and the set up was spot on (no buzzing, good intonation). You will have no problems coaxing that clean jazz tone out of it. Playing single line melodies with a few triads thrown is quick and easy.I probably would have played this guitar for years, but after several comping sessions my left hand was destroyed for the day. The U shaped neck was not kind to me.Before you buy this guitar, make sure you are comfortable playing a U shape as opposed to a C or a V shape. All of my other guitars have a C style, so I didn't realize how I couldn't handle a thicker neck. That mistake is on me.I would wholeheartedly recommend this Gretsch to anyone who can handle necks in the thick end of the ... MoreI loved this guitar at first. In the end, I traded it in for and Epiphone ES 355 and couldn't be happier, but I do miss that handsome walnut stain.

Repurchased this guitar after an accident with the first one. I was glad they still had it in stock as it is beautiful and plays really well. Feels good on the hands and has great weight to it. I received so many compliments on this guitar, and hope to enjoy playing it for years to come. Musicians friend made this purchase very easy!

I bought this guitar because i got a great Black Friday deal.First of all, purchase and delivery couldn't have been easier. It arrived the next day. Several email updates from PMT also. The fit and finish of the guitar is perfect. There is not one imperfection in the construction or finish. The guitar was set up ready to play with perfect intonation. (A hang tag indicates that this was done at the factory). The neck is advertised as a slim U, but it is not really that slim, more standard U. Tuners seem good. The colour - Gold Dust - is more of a pale metallic green/gold. It is not 'Gold Top' gold. The guitar sounds great acoustically, with a full rich tone. The pickups are basically low power humbuckers, but have that Gretsch bite 'n' twang. Very clear open tone. ... MoreI bought this guitar because i got a great Black Friday deal.First of all, purchase and delivery couldn't have been easier. It arrived the next day. (Similar tone to GFS Dream 180's).One bad point is the electrics. The active range of all controls are about 10 down to 7, then nothing the rest of the way. There is no smooth taper from 10 to zero.I bought this guitar with the intention of customising it. I was really surprised by the excellent quality guitar for the money. The electrics will have to be sorted/upgraded for sure. I have a set of Gretsch USA Filtertron pickups, which i will put in later, but there is nothing really wrong with the pickups in the guitar.

Looks amazing, feels amazing and plays great. Initially I was surprised with the tone it produced. Do be aware this model does not use filtertron pick ups and if you are looking for the classic gretsch sound look elsewhere. The control knobs are solid, smooth and sturdy. The finish and attention to detail is very good, It has slightly smaller f holes than normal. As I said earlier the guitar doesn't use filtertrons but broadtron bt2s pickups, they may take getting used too but I find I like them. They are a bit dark and muddy but cover a wider range of musical genres than the filtertrons. As this is a hollow body feedback is an issue but that is to be expected. Overall this is a beautiful well put together guitar, the bibsby holds tune pretty well and feels solid and well put together. Although this is meant to be an entry level guitar (Not exactly entry level price) it far exceeds those expectations. My only gripe is that the one I ordered came in an Ibanez box and appeared ro be a b-stock. There is a chip in the paint on the headstock which resulted from poor packaging. I will never order from the website ever again. Will prefer ro visit my local store in the future, that way if there is an issue with a product I can easily take it back without issue.
Overall:I just fecieved this today and my first reaction was “WOW”. It really is a nice looking guitar. Its more raspberry in cor than what it shows in the pictures, but still very beautiful. It came right out of the box setup without needing any adjustmenys to suit me. Even with Gibson and Fender, i usually have to make fine adjustments. It has a VERY beautiful warm and a very “crisp” treble. All poles in the pickups has the same output, making cbords ring out sharp and not having a string ring out louder than the others. The craftmanship on this is a 10. Its a guitar im proud to have in my collection. I hope my review helps you in making the purchase. I am VERY pleased with mine!
Sound:I was excited and couldn’t wait to receive this guitar as a gift for my son. I heard some good reviews on YouTube about this guitar and read the zZounds review.. unfortunately the excitement turned into disappointment when unboxing the guitar! The guitar appeared ready to play out of the box but when my son played an open E chord, he was discouraged when he hear buzzing and rattling form the E,A and D string and it was further amplified when plugged in. I also inspected the body and found not so desirable blemish on the body of guitar above the pick up.. it look like moisture damage (white cloudy smudge) that won’t go away with polishing.Features:The bridge is garbage and we are planing to upgrade that soon. I also inspected the body and found not so desirable blemish on the body of guitar above the pick up.. it look like moisture damage (white cloudy smudge) that won’t go away with polishing.Features:The bridge is garbage and we are planing to upgrade that soon. The pick guard up close looks horrible and my thoughts were a 5 year could of cut a pick guard better than that! The cuts on the edges of the pick guard looked crooked and I can believe why there are no protective dampers on areas it touches the body of the guitar.Ease of Use:I spent hours trying to identify the buzzing sound and figured out 2 areas of concern. 1 was the pick guard which I isolated the sound with a damper I laced at the points it touched the guitar. 2nd was the the guitars trust rod was not set up at all and strings were buzzing on the 3 and 4 th fret.. I opened the plate to adjust the trust rod and it was very lose .. so I spent 30 minutes to 45 minutes thinning slowly and checking the gap between sting and top of fret until the buzzing stopped. Warning ‼️ if you know nothing about trust rods and never messed around with, please take it to a professional.. over tightening can have a negative impact on your guitars neck.. loosing too much can also detach the nut from the trust rod!Quality:Aside from the guitar looking dirty and dusty, it does have great potential for sounding good thanks to those pick ups! I was somewhat content that I was able to fine tune the guitar to be playable! But was very disappointed that the manufacturer would allow a product to go out in that condition! My son is now happy with it.. and we just have to deal with the blemishValue:In the condition a record I would say No! Perhaps if it would of been at a 399.00 range I wouldn’t be so critical on it, but at 599.00 the manufacturer should poor more care in the product and do a better inspection before shipping to a customer!Manufacturer Support:Honestly I have not attempted to contact the company, and will not.. eventually my son and I plan to do little upgrades on the guitarThe Wow Factor:I would give it a 10 for appeal! The guitar looks beautiful but I wouldn’t recomend for someone stating out.. just cause of the necessary adjustment that would need to be done pro make the guitar sound good!Overall:Not happy
Well done Fender! Glad you are keeping the Gretsch legacy alive! Your Indonesia factory is turning out a very playable, affordable hollow-body, classic Gretsch electric guitar! Mine was manufactured in June of 2021. I played both the Streamliner, and other Electromatic models in the showroom the day I bought the Gretsch G2420T. Hands down I liked the look, feel and sound of the Streamliner much better than the more expensive Electromatic. The walnut finish is stunning. The build quality - top notch. And for the price of the Streamliner, the Electromatic - or any of the other Gretsch models - didn't have a chance of going home with me that day. For the price, I am very happy hollow body guitar owner now at last. My other solid body guitars will suffer a lack of being ... MoreWell done Fender! Glad you are keeping the Gretsch legacy alive! Adding better tunners for starters, and maybe pickup mods, but the factory build quality is outstanding! If you have been thinking of adding a hollow-body to your collection, Go try a Gretsch Streamliner G2420T at your local Guitar Center!
All right y'all. I grabbed one of these on a Stupid Deal of the Day, and I'm glad I did! Over a decade ago, I owned a top-of-the-line Brian Setzer 6120 - green stain, dice knobs, the whole bit. That guitar was flippin' awesome. But, I transitioned to mostly pedal steel, so I sold it to buy what's been my main axe since then, an Emmons push/pull steel guitar. Totally worth it. I use the pedal steel all the time, and I earn most of my income with it. But boy, did I miss that 6120.When I saw this one come up on the SDotD, I just went for it - impulse buy, something fun to play with during quarantine. But boy, did I miss that 6120.When I saw this one come up on the SDotD, I just went for it - impulse buy, something fun to play with during quarantine. Unfortunately, the first one that showed up must have gotten knocked around, because it was way out of adjustment, even after working on it for a while. I called Musician's Friend customer service, and a really helpful guy named Nick got me all set up to exchange it. Guitar #2 arrived, and OMG - it's not exactly like the 6120 (a $2k plus guitar), but it sure has the right feel and vibe. It has "that" thing that Gretsch guitars have - it's snappy, responsive, and it plays back at you. I put tens on and they feel like nines, knowhatimean?Cosmetically, you can see where they took the cheap route - plastic switch tip and knobs, no binding around the f-holes. But the finish! It looks better in person that it does in the photos, trust me! It's a deep wine red or blood red stain. And I was able to find reasonably priced aftermarket knobs and a Gretsch-style switch tip, so I upgraded the look. I LOVE THIS GUITAR!
The guitar is nearly perfect. There is one finish blemish where the neck meets the body that should polish out. The neck is straight, the frets are clean and level, and only minor action and intonation adjustments were needed. The tuners get the job done and I've experienced little or no slip. The pickups deliver the sound expected and electronics function flawlessly with the exception of the pickup selector switch with is very stiff and cheap feeling. It appears to be standard size and should be easy to upgrade.. For the money spent, the G2420T is a real bargain.
I received my Gretsch Walnut finish G2420T. I did quite a bit of research before the purchase. If you read my post on the G2622T you'd know that it was the G2622T that steered me away from purchasing the D'Angelico Exl-1. Anyway, as it turns out, the G2622T, and the G2420T have many advantages to the D'Angelico: Two high output "Power" of 9.5 pickups, that with a "Definition" of 7.5 which exceeds the one humbucking pickup of the D'angelico. Everyone thinks humbucker was first to market, when in fact Gretsch was first to patten pend and to market. Furthermore, Gretsch was the pioneer of the laminate process for instruments. The point is Gretsch history is very rich in excellence. That process leads us to this: both Gretsch and D'Angelico are laminate guitars, so ... MoreI received my Gretsch Walnut finish G2420T. As it turns out, I was ready to purchase the EXL-1 at $1300 plus tax. After my research I purchased the Gretsch G2622T. Immediately following that purchase I ordered and received the G5422-12, and the G2420T. As it turns out, the G2622T, G2420T, and the Tascam SD 24 were about the price of the D'Angelico EXL-1, and I could not be happier. I own a Martin Grand Performer, and a Suhr Custom Classic T. If fun is a factor, I like The Gretsch G2420T more than the Suhr or Martin. I have nothing bad to say about these three guitars. Ask me how I feel about the others and I'll tell you!
