Some of my groupmates prefer to use additives in their water bottles (Nuun, etc) for long rides for electrolyte replenishment. I prefer to keep regular water in my bottle in order to keep the bottle cleaner for a longer period of time. My old bottles developed mold / mildew much faster when using additives that had extra sugars - the bottles can be difficult to get the valves and other parts cleaned well.Since I use regular water in my bottle, I need to replenish electrolytes via food intake and find that Gu is a great means to accomplish this. I ride in Florida and lose a lot of salt through sweat from our hot humid environment most of the year. If I don't, I start to have energy issues and find that I struggle to keep pace as I start to bonk. This value pack contains a large variety of flavors, is priced well and is easy to store. If your needs are similar to mine, I recommend it to cyclists or runners.

Absolutely LOVE this stuff, never run more than 5 miles without it! When I take one of these mid-run, about ten minutes later I'm feeling like Tony Montana. The added caffeine is also great for waking the brain up, especially on super-long runs. The package says to eat one 5 minutes before a run, then every 45 minutes. I've done a bunch of experimenting, and I do better eating one every 35 minutes. So definitely play around with them; everyone burns calories at different speeds. I also love the texture of these gels; very easy to swallow and digest. I haven't thrown up once from eating these, though make sure you take them with a lot of water. Otherwise all that sugar wreaks havoc on the stomach (or mine, at least). But eaten correctly and with the right timing, ... MoreAbsolutely LOVE this stuff, never run more than 5 miles without it! Love using GU, and I believe they have loads of history and experience behind their name to make them one of the most trusted names in athlete nutrition. I’ve always enjoyed the large variety of flavors, caffeine amounts, and amino blends in their energy gel lines to give me the flexibility to choose which gels fit my needs. For me, they’ve always been easy to get down, even During hard efforts, and I’ve personally never experienced any discomfort or negative side-effects from using them.I like most of the GU Energy and Roctane gels, but my favorites are Hoppy Trails and Salted Watermelon. Hoppy Trails is surprisingly not “flat beer” flavored at all, as some may think. It has nice, citrus-hoppy-floral notes you might get from a craft IPA. It’s actually really ... It’s actually really refreshing in flavor, not overly-sweet like some gels can be, and does not leave an aftertaste. It’s a great non-caffeinated option for me. Salted Watermelon is my favorite caffeinated option and again not overly sweet for me.

I suffer with GI issues with most gels but never had any slight issues with these gels. Tried a lot of the flavours and if I'm honest I'd actually eat a lot of them as a dessert given the choice. Unlike most others on the market which taste just awful and are a necessary evil of a long run, I actually look forward to these when I pack them. Best flavours for me: Strawberry Banana, Campfire Smores and my very favourite is Toasted Marshmallow.
Gu are my favourite gels, a good portable shot of energy.I have tried several flavours but my favourite is Campfire S'mores. I think if you like the name of the flavour you will like the taste. Cola Me-Happy is bonkers - like cola bottles mixed with sodastream concentrate...
Gu have a great range of flavours. I first tried the variety pack so I could work out which ones I'd want more of & which were too sickly (some are too sickly).Like espresso, vanilla & caramel at the mo.Consistency is like frosting you'd put on a cake. I usually take with some fluids.Says on packet you can take every 45mins, so found I can take less out on long runs than I did with the SIS gels. Also makes them good value for money.Nice small size so can fit in a waist/arm bag, or in a zipped pocket.Webste shows amino acids and caffeine for each which is really good if you want to compare.Been using them now for 18months & pleased.
I'm a trail runner and spend hrs in forests. I have a sensetive stomach + reflux. Many says GU is thick , yes but calms my stomach down. Since you have to drink water during a long race, thickness doesnt really bother me. they are small so makes it easy to carry. Also different flavors really helpful for my stomach&taste ,too. For xmiles, reallly fast shipping! thank you!
My previous experience of gels was of the fruity types, with packaging prescribing 3 per hour. My stomach never thanked me for this and GI issues ruined many a training session and race. As a result I had been turned off gels until xmiles recommended I gave Gu a try for my marathon training. First up, Gu recommend 1 gel per 45 mins, this made me immediately more confident I wasn't going to be seeing these again shortly after swallowing them. Next up is the taste. I've tried Chocolate, Caramel, Espresso, Berry and Watermelon. The taste is unreal! I especially love the caramel and chocolate flavours. These are not like gels of the past, these are like eating sweets or cake topping or something equally delectable! So much so that I was tempted to try all the flavours ... So much so that I was tempted to try all the flavours without bothering to leave my house. I’ve not used them out on the race course yet so still deciding the best flavour to take. I expect to take a selection so that I can choose what I fancy as I go. They are easy on the stomach and the caffeine is a bonus boost. These are going to be my go to gel from now on.
I have to say GU Chocolate Outrage are soooo nice! I used these for marathon training back in 2015 but the toffee one mainly (I tried a few different flavours.) They did the job. This time, again marathon training I thought I would try again and the taste is so much nicer. The best desert in an energy gel! Would thoroughly recommend. Good to take with a sip of water after but shame to wash down the nice chocolate after taste!
I’ve tried the salted caramel, salted watermelon and campfire s’mores. My favourite is easily the campfire s’mores, I loved this flavour! I tried two of the salted watermelon and didn’t love it the first time but did love it the second. The salted Carmel’s are also a great choice but couldn’t stomach them after a while. They need water with them, but are good for being a bit different.
