I absolutely love this suction pump!!! It collects all my milk that leaks while nursing my baby and has effectively boosted my milk supply. I wish I would have had this with my previous pregnancies!!! My only recommendation is finding this pump that comes with a lid for storage purposes unless you have a high supply that fills the entire pump, which can hold up to 5 ounces. I love the ease of using this, however if you have a squirmy baby I would advise you to watch it closely so that it doesn't spill. Ive used this for about 6 weeks now and only spilt it twice so if used properly, spills are avoidable. I bought this at an affordable price off Amazon and would recommend this product to anyone planning on breastfeeding

I absolutely love this product. I have been breastfeeding for almost two years with my toddler and now adding my newborn. I exclusively pumped for my oldest and now I nurse my youngest and use the Hakka on the other side for my toddler. This product can make your nipples sore in the beginning (all pumps will). But I can take this pump anywhere and it is so easy to clean! It is also very cost effective as you aren’t replacing pump parts or the pump itself, or at least I haven’t had to.

I wish I had known about the haakaa sooner into my breastfeeding journey. I started using it about 4 weeks postpartum. While my baby nurses on one breast, the haakaa is attached to the opposite breast as the passive suction catches whatever milk is letdown as my baby nurses. It has collected as much as 3 oz in one nursing session. I usually top off my baby with whatever amount my haakaa catches. So a feeding session for us will look like: 10-15 min on one breast + 1 oz. I also noticed she started gaining more weight after I began topping her off with the milk caught by the haakaa. I highly recommend getting not just one but two. One to keep at home, and another to keep in diaper bag.

It's great to have an easier product to use for leakages while my baby is on the other breast.Breastfeeding is challenging and in my case requires both my hands to appropriately support my little man in his feeds, I would usually need to grab the closest towel or even blanket in some cases to shove under the other or risk drenching my boy and myself. It's saving stinky towels and blankets in the wash that have had to be delayed so we can simply wash our own clothes after keeping up with our boys. It's just helping with a sense of dignity while breastfeeding. I'm all for breastfeeding but making such huge messes at times I can't move and can't reach because my boy needs both my hands, it gets messy, smelly and just hurts my feelings because I feel like I'm failing or can't keep up with something so simple like staying resonably clean while feeding, it stopped me going out in public, four and a half months old and my boy is still locked on every 2 hours or so throughout the day, I couldnt make that mess in public, no bra pad could support the amount I'm capable of leaking at times my breasts are doing their job of producing. Now I have a lot more confidence to go out with my boy as it's so easily portable and I manage to support it with my inner arm while supporting my boy, because of the suction it's a bit easier to hold on while feeding compared to my hospital grade pump as that requires a lot of support around the actual breast, the haakaa more or less for me requires support to just stay in position as a whole. It does not replace expressing in my situation nor do I believe that is it's intention but it certainly supports me while feeding my boy and for a little while after depending how easy my boy will burp at the time.I intend to buy a couple more to leave around to help me in my breastfeeding and expressing journey.

Depends on your needs

I kept hearing about this device and given the price, decided to try it. It was effective in catching milk while I breastfed, but as others have mentioned, it is bulky when breastfeeding. What I didn’t realize is that it would hurt. There is no way that I am pumping with this device, it suctions too much. My manual avent pump remains the best for quick pumping. If you’re looking for something to just catch the letdown, I would go with something smaller.

Didn’t work for me

I have to give this a low rating I’m sorry, as it didn’t work for me at all. I found it quite painful, even though I’d been breastfeeding for a good six months when I got it. I thought it would be a good alternative to an electric pump which I couldn’t afford, but I needed to pump to keep up my supply while my baby was getting formula top ups. At best I was able to get a few drops in the bottom, at worst the few drops in the bottom were bloodstained. I do know an actual human in real life that swore by your pump when she had a baby though, and I’ve seen people in my NZ Facebook groups recommend it so clearly it does work for some women. Equally though I’ve seen many women online for whom it did not work. Unfortunately this product was useless to me in place of a breast pump, which is the main reason for me shelling out money for the Haakaa. Also why oh why would you not include a lid or flower with each pump? You need something to be able to seal it off, especially if you’re using it to catch letdown, the baby could easily kick it over while you’re finishing the feed. For the price of this, which you can get a cheap electric pump for less, it needs to include some sort of cap. All the other breast pumps do. It’s heartbreaking to spill even a drop of precious milk, and with no cap, that’s what we’re risking each time.

I have a love-hate relationship with this thing. It’s excellent to catch letdown milk when you’re feeding/pumping from the other breast. But with its size and shape, any little motion to upset it for even a fraction of a second (wriggly, kicking baby or an accidental elbow nudge) would make it lose its suction and send spilt milk all over your top. I’ve had to learn to let go of these little heartbreaks but would love if they could find a way to make this happen less often (tried their stronger suction mode — not more effective yet more painful). ALSO this bundle doesn’t come with the cap/stopper which I think is silly because my pregnant brain just didn’t realise the pump didn’t come with any cover or stopper and I had to order it in another separate package later on.2. Reusable Storage Bags. For all intents and purposes, these are great. However, it is quite hard & fiddly to pull off the sliding grey seal entirely (which you have to do in order to be able to pour out the contents from the edge) without shaking the bags and causing spillage. To avoid spilling too much milk, I just fill these bags half full.

Love it!

I love this Haakaa breast pump. Since my baby only likes to drink on one side, it’s so helpful to suction the other breast to collect my let-down. I love the suction base since I’ve had so many other branded pumps fall and spill milk everywhere before. The suction is great and I love that it’s easy to sterilize in my steamer. The wide base also makes it easy to clean. The only con is that I do not like the flower stopper. Like other Haakaa breast pumps that I have, I prefer the silicone lid so I can easily drop it in the fridge or secure it better incase it drops on the floor. Otherwise, this breast pump trumps all other brands, I cannot recommend it enough! I have a growing collection of four in various sizes since you can never have enough for travel, work, home, etc.

It was supplying me more milk in one session than my Momcozy pump (which work amazingly well) that I use throughout the day would in one session, at first. It definitely helped raise my supply or keep it from dropping for sure. THERE’S A BUT. As much as I loved it, it has stopped working now. After only about a month to a month and a half, I can only get about a quarter of what I was getting with it and the suction never wants to stay anymore. It isn’t quite as sturdy as it used to be. Its silicone was much more stiff when I first got it and it’s a bit floppy now. I’ve only sterilized it maybe 2-3 times. Sad that it didn’t ... MoreLoved it.
