When I first started breastfeeding/pumping I did not know how to use this properly. After a little research (and a few helpful videos) the Haakaa was a staple in my routine when it came to pumping and getting engorgement under control! The easiest way to avoid the “learning curve” is start out using slowly and not for an extended period (fully emptying). Fold the flap completely down and squeeze before applying it to yourself. Once everything is in place comfortably, release over the breast and slowly fold the flap up onto yourself. This should help avoid discomfort and create a nice suction for natural flow!

I now own 3 Haakaas with the suction base. This product is something you don’t know you need until you have it. Having more than one allowed me to have one in the fridge to cool the milk between feedings, but I still always had a clean one. When breastfeeding you just place it on your alternate breast while your child nurses and it collects all the milk that would have otherwise gone into your bra. I couldn’t believe how much milk I was able to collect without really trying. It’s great for those late night feeds too, because it’s silent. Overall I would absolutely recommend this product. Bonus tip: if you have 2, put them on while you shower.

This is the only pump I’ve used with my second baby. I cannot live without my haakaa pumps!! They are so easy and effective! I use them whenever I feel full or on the opposite side when I’m nursing. I love how they suction on and collect the milk. They’re comfortable and easy to clean! Even great for treating mastitis with water and Epsom salts! Also great for long car rides!! I can’t say enough good things!

I did not know these existed with my first baby and only used it with my second. It was a life saver for me as an overproducer. If baby was asleep and I needed to relieve pressure this was quick and easy to use. Way easier than setting up an electric pump, expressing by hand, or using the old fashioned hand pumps. It's also good for collecting on the side you're not feeding on. I would get the base because it is top-heavy and tips over easily.

What a fantastic invention, honestly! So simple, cheap and effective. As most mums know, in the very early days of breastfeeding how much wastage goes through our bras, clothes and those nursing pads (absorbing precious golden milk). A Haakaa is a MUST for any new mum planning to breastfeed. I love started pack these in pamper gifts as they are so cheap to buy and so much more effective compared to a electric pump (if for the purpose of collecting milk during a feed). All you need to do is put this on the breast whilst bub is feeding from the other and the suction will just start to collect the natural let down. I would generally collect between 20-80ml just by it being on my breast. No sucking/pulling like a electric does. Highly, highly recommend.

I’d always recommend for first time moms who are looking to BF to use this product. It provides great suction on the boob you attach it to while nursing on the other. It’s a great source of collecting milk letdown/extra milk while breastfeeding baby directly on boob. It has great accessories such as the flower stopper to prevent milk spilling when placing the haakaa down after use. This product is also amazing when experiencing mastitis or clogged ducts. Add some epsom salt in the Haakaa mixed in with warm warm and provides relief on your clogged milk. 10/10 recommend

I was prone to getting blocked ducts with both kids. If you know, you know! This is the worst feeling and can be extremely painful. I had the Haakaa as I would use it from time to time when I was either breastfeeding or using my single pump. I quickly learned that with warm water, Epsom salt and the Haakaa you can clear a clogged duct. This was my new go to and saved my life (and boobs!) more then I can count. It was also super handy to have for when I was using my single pump or breastfeeding, I could easily place it on my other without fear of it coming off.

I love Haakka. This is the best product. I’m using this from the first week after my labour and its been more than 2 more than since ai started using it. This saves me from lot of things. I’m exclusively breastfeeding and I use this for let down and also I use this for pumping if I am taking my baby out. I use that pumped milk when I cannot breastfeed in the situation. Really love this. And highly recommend this product for the mommies.

I was recently asked “as a mom who just went through having a newborn and nursing what is one thing that really helped you as a mom” the individual was looking to buy the best gift for there daughter. This item right here…, the Haakaa suction pump was my answer. This thing came everywhere with me including every feeding. I would use this to catch the let down of the opposite breast the baby was feeding. Just simply squeeze once and apply to breast. No manual pumping or loud breast pump while feeding baby. This would easily fill with 90ml of milk and sometimes even overfill (the ONLY downfall.. literally) I honestly recommend this to every nursing mother!

I purchased this because I thought it would be more convenient not to have to decant milk into another bottle. Also, the wider base would be more stable when sitting on the table than the 1st generation Haakaa. Those features are great. The shield fits comfortably. It's easy to wash, and it collects precious milk that otherwise would have been wasted. The downsides are that this feels much heavier than the one-piece 1st generation Haakaa, requiring more suction to stay attached. I would recommend the 1st gen Haakaa instead of the pump and bottle set because of the weight of the set. The 1st gen Haakaa is my favorite -- it is soft, comfortable, lightweight, easy to clean, stays attached, and collects a lot of milk for very little effort. The NatureBond is stiffer, so it does not stay attached to me, but it also works well as long as I keep re-suctioning. I frequently got plugged ducts from the Medela Swing, even after switching shields to Pumpin' Pals, and I collected comparable amounts of milk to the 1st gen Haakaa or NatureBond, so I no longer use the Medela. Like many other reviewers, I wish I had known about Haakaa with my older children or in the early oversupply days of my latest baby.The bottle is very convenient to have, and the included nipple is very soft. My baby liked it immediately, although she was unable to hold it herself. But, once there's milk being stored in the bottle, I would need to buy another bottle or pour the milk into another storage bottle if I needed to use this pump again before feeding the 1st bottle.
