When I first started breastfeeding/pumping I did not know how to use this properly. After a little research (and a few helpful videos) the Haakaa was a staple in my routine when it came to pumping and getting engorgement under control! The easiest way to avoid the “learning curve” is start out using slowly and not for an extended period (fully emptying). Fold the flap completely down and squeeze before applying it to yourself. Once everything is in place comfortably, release over the breast and slowly fold the flap up onto yourself. This should help avoid discomfort and create a nice suction for natural flow!

I now own 3 Haakaas with the suction base. This product is something you don’t know you need until you have it. Having more than one allowed me to have one in the fridge to cool the milk between feedings, but I still always had a clean one. When breastfeeding you just place it on your alternate breast while your child nurses and it collects all the milk that would have otherwise gone into your bra. I couldn’t believe how much milk I was able to collect without really trying. It’s great for those late night feeds too, because it’s silent. Overall I would absolutely recommend this product. Bonus tip: if you have 2, put them on while you shower.

What a fantastic invention, honestly! So simple, cheap and effective. As most mums know, in the very early days of breastfeeding how much wastage goes through our bras, clothes and those nursing pads (absorbing precious golden milk). A Haakaa is a MUST for any new mum planning to breastfeed. I love started pack these in pamper gifts as they are so cheap to buy and so much more effective compared to a electric pump (if for the purpose of collecting milk during a feed). All you need to do is put this on the breast whilst bub is feeding from the other and the suction will just start to collect the natural let down. I would generally collect between 20-80ml just by it being on my breast. No sucking/pulling like a electric does. Highly, highly recommend.

I wish I had known about the haakaa sooner into my breastfeeding journey. I started using it about 4 weeks postpartum. While my baby nurses on one breast, the haakaa is attached to the opposite breast as the passive suction catches whatever milk is letdown as my baby nurses. It has collected as much as 3 oz in one nursing session. I usually top off my baby with whatever amount my haakaa catches. So a feeding session for us will look like: 10-15 min on one breast + 1 oz. I also noticed she started gaining more weight after I began topping her off with the milk caught by the haakaa. I highly recommend getting not just one but two. One to keep at home, and another to keep in diaper bag.

I’d always recommend for first time moms who are looking to BF to use this product. It provides great suction on the boob you attach it to while nursing on the other. It’s a great source of collecting milk letdown/extra milk while breastfeeding baby directly on boob. It has great accessories such as the flower stopper to prevent milk spilling when placing the haakaa down after use. This product is also amazing when experiencing mastitis or clogged ducts. Add some epsom salt in the Haakaa mixed in with warm warm and provides relief on your clogged milk. 10/10 recommend

I was prone to getting blocked ducts with both kids. If you know, you know! This is the worst feeling and can be extremely painful. I had the Haakaa as I would use it from time to time when I was either breastfeeding or using my single pump. I quickly learned that with warm water, Epsom salt and the Haakaa you can clear a clogged duct. This was my new go to and saved my life (and boobs!) more then I can count. It was also super handy to have for when I was using my single pump or breastfeeding, I could easily place it on my other without fear of it coming off.

Convenient and effective

This is great for expressing milk, I only need to express the equivalent of 1 bottle breast milk each day. This pump does that easily. I find it much more convenient than an electric pump which I also have, as I can still move around and do things while these pumps work. Also easy to take out if I need to express while in the car or out at someone’s house. Only negative would be that sometimes the suction just keeps coming off and that is frustrating, however will work after fiddling, just have to get the position right. Also it is most effective while my baby is feeding on the other side and he sometimes pulls the pump off. The lid is better than the flower stopper (it kept dropping into the milk) which I also have. More powerful than expected

The haakaa itself: the silicone is quite thick and sturdy feeling for how supple and flexible it is. Everyone online raves about these and a manual pump seems so much easier than electric but I was concerned it would take a lot longer to pump but the suction on this can be quite strong, it'll do the job nicely. I was just going to get the cap, rather than the stopper but read the cap isn't leak proof it it's tipped over, but the stopper is so got both. The cap doesn't spill when tipped, bit it is a tight fit and would be fiddly to fit when feeding a wriggly baby so the stopper does pop in easier. Overall very happy with purchase

Quick and easy to use, easy to clean - highly recommend!

Love my Haakaa. In the middle of the night and in the morning I use my Haakaa to pump out the milk engorging whatever breast baby isn't feeding on. I'm able to collect so much milk in such a short time (i.e. 2-4 oz in 5-10 minutes)! The stash in my freezer is 100% Haakaa pumped. It is easy to use, easy to clean. I also bought the lid to go with it so I can just leave the milk in the Haakaa and put it right into the fridge.I'm not sure how well the Haakaa would work for someone with a lower milk supply, but at least for those with an abundant supply I highly recommend the Haakaa.
