I'm a fine art photographer in Utah specializing in landscapes. I have over 16 years of experience and a decade of printing experience (currently the Epson P800). I normally take a dim view of metallic papers but I was curious about this paper. So when I arrived I carefully chose an image I thought could benefit from the unique textures this paper brings to the table. When the print emerged I brought it out to dining room and placed it on the table. Soon I hear a WOW from my fiercest critic...my wife. I re-emerge to find her over the print, looking down and nodding as she took it in. European's don't really sugarcoat' and she is as blunt as brick, refreshingly honest so if she is giving the seal of approval the paper did the job! I love this paper. This paper can add an extra layer of visual interest to certain images (high-contrast images printed large). But the metallic sheen only shows up at certain angles, otherwise it looks considerably duller than regular Hahnemühle Photo Rag. I've also been a bit disappointed at how tiny details seem to disappear into the surface texture of the paper. I'm printing images from scanned film, and the film grain doesn't show up crisply on this paper. For certain images, it's pretty impressive, but there are a few caveats, so I can't give it a full 5 stars.

This paper is for limited application. The metallic color means that you will not get true whites; they will print as a metallic grey. Blacks are very deep and impressive. The paper is textured and lighter areas allow the texture to show through. I have been very happy with most of the prints and the more I work with the paper the better I have become at figuring out the kinds of images that are enhanced through its use.

I prefer this paper for black and white prints when there are highlights of varying light tones that this paper will give a extra special sparkle, a soft glow that ordinary printing paper cannot. I do not like the metal substrate based prints as a personal preference, but I love this option to create a similar effect. It is worth the extra expense that this unusual paper produces.
This paper is absolutely fantastic. Its not like all other metallic paper on the market. This is not very glossy by any means. Its also quiet textured. Its a low gloss paper with a metallic sparkle. Paper itself is very light grey. I am a food photographer and I use this for elements like silvery fish scales. The result is superb.
I really like this paper for both documentary printing, and printing my deep space astro shots! Details come out beautiful, and the color is true! Great product!
I bought this paper to print with at home after having prints made with the same paper in a lab. I LOVE this paper. I just don’t love it at home. I have used a bunch of different photo and fine art papers to make prints at home and this is the only one that I’ve had poor results with. I’m not sure why, likely it’s my printer. I used the icc profile, even did some adjustments and proofing in Lightroom to troubleshoot, but everything had a very green hue, which, honestly, I probably could have continued to work with to correct, but it was the complete loss of detail and sharpness in the warm tones that I couldn’t figure out. I absolutely love the results when I have it printed through a professional lab though. I wish I had the good results that others have had ... MoreI bought this paper to print with at home after having prints made with the same paper in a lab. I LOVE this paper. I absolutely love the results when I have it printed through a professional lab though. I wish I had the good results that others have had because this paper is really gorgeous. For reference, I have the Epson Artisan 1430 printer. It’s a great little work horse, but maybe it just doesn’t have the stuff to maximize the potential of this paper.
This is an interesting paper. It is metallic but not overly so. It is also textured and the combination gives images an interesting look. Not quite sure yet just how interesting but I will live with this paper. Where it is less than great is that the color gamut is limited, especially in the oranges and greens. It might have done better on the Epson 4900 I used to have but on the P800 it cannot match those colors as well as a baryta paper does.
Hahnemhle's Photo Rag Metallic Paper boasts a silvery-shimmering quality that almost perfectly captures the unique metallic aesthetic of my artwork. It is appropriately durable and can support a colorful variety of different inks. As an artist, I use this paper exclusively to produce prints of my original work and am always pleased with the end result. Overall, the only major downside is its steep price and I have yet to find a more affordable supplier than B&H Photo.
Everyone always asks, what is this paper you’re using? It’s really eye catching. It’s boosting my print sales, expensive but I highly recommend it.
