When it comes to great pour-over coffee, few manufacturers enjoy a reputation a stellar as Hario. Since the 1920s, they’ve produced hundreds of designs, which have enhanced coffee production around the world – in both cafés and home kitchens. Today, their flagship product is undoubtedly their v60 system for pour-over coffee. It’s modular, meaning that you can take their pick from a variety of different drippers, servers and filter papers, in order to create a system that’s perfectly tailored to your taste and wallet. The item you see here is a glass version of the dripper, whose ridged interior ensures that filter paper sticks, and that granules are distributed evenly – ensuring that the maximum surface area of the coffee granules is exposed to water, and that flavour is efficiently transferred from the former to the latter! This is the slightly larger ’02’ version of the v60 dripper, which boasts enough room for four cups of coffee – perfect for when you’re hosting friends and family. The entire thing has been meticulously handcrafted, ensuring utmost quality of construction. Notably, the base of the device is made from olive wood, which is both practical and beautiful, too.

I’ve had a Hario coffee maker for a few years now, and the plastic dripper it originally came with is looking a little worse for wear and I was looking for something not plastic. This ceramic dripper works perfectly for a good cup or pot of coffee. Fits both on my coffee pot and regular sized coffee mugs.

The dripper will arrive WITH NOT ONE SINGLE FILTER to try my first cup. How cheap for a pricey for-what-you-get purchase. You have to buy #2 filters (unless you have them). The instructions are also head scratching. I will let you know how the coffee tastes NEXT WEEK when my filters arrive. A poor effort to please your customer.

I have been enjoying this coffee dripper since it’s small and doesn’t take up too much space. Coffee is not piping hot like French press but it’s smooth and nice.

I’m really glad I got this. I’m a drip coffee novice and I started with Chemex. I’m able to brew a much better cup with the Hario Drip due to my current skill level. I highly recommend this for those who are new to pour-over coffee. I got size #2 and I have found the Chemex square filters to be much better with this drip than the V 60 filters I purchased.
Great looking piece of kit and goes well with the olive wood server. Any water that gets on is easy to wipe off and should look food for many years. Easy to grasp as well to pick up off the server.
It seems there are two questions most people ask about v60. 1. Which material is the best for heat retention? 2. What size to get? This review will not address the size question. It will only address the material of the cone. I have glass V60-02 with wood base. I have viewed many many videos and read many threads and observed the following. I think there is a problem in the way most people use the filter in the cone. The cone of each v60 has ribs. The ribs are not straight, they swirl to prevent the filter from sticking to the cone. I think the plastic cone ribs are shaped differently. Problem I see in all videos is that after wetting/washing the filter, the paper gets stuck to the cone wall. I do not know how this can happen. My filters never stick to the cone ... MoreIt seems there are two questions most people ask about v60. 1. Which material is the best for heat retention? 2. What size to get? The ribs are not straight, they swirl to prevent the filter from sticking to the cone. I think the plastic cone ribs are shaped differently. Problem I see in all videos is that after wetting/washing the filter, the paper gets stuck to the cone wall. I do not know how this can happen. My filters never stick to the cone wall. Stuck filter paper against the wall means the v60 is not working as intended because the coffee brew cannot breath. This brings us to the question about temperature retention. In theory there is no problem with temperature retention because there should be a space behind the filter which allows the hot steam to exhaust and keep the filter and cone hot. If the paper sticks to the cone then there is no air flow (like in the chemex) and the filter will leak heat through the cone. I think the glass may have the best ribs. They are circular and sharp and make only a point contact with the paper which means it cannot loose heat and the harsh coffee aromatics can exhaust giving you a better smoother cup of coffee. You can see if your v60 is breathing by the brown tips at the top of each rib channel. If not breathing them the paper stays wet and translucent and the only brown coffee color is behind the coffee bed.
Really nice finishes all around. This is my 2nd V60 i've owned and it's wonderful. I actually swapped the olivewood base with my original matte black V60's base and the wood/black looks fantastic. The only complaint i have about the olivewood ring is that it fits rather awkwardly on the Fellow Mighty Small Carafe's rim. It works just fine but it doesn't have the positive contact that using the normal silicone base has. Another thing that i learned is that it is not the wooden base alone; inside there is a "HARIO V60" black silicone flange that nests inside the wood collar. I think that's a really nice touch and it feels much better fitted to the brewer than the origami with its wooden base.
I have been trying to get rid of all toxic products. This inspired me with the pour over. I’m so happy with the quality and beauty of it!! The coffee comes out amazing every time!! Easy to keep clean. You can use this on your own cup or they have a carafe that works great with it as well.
Love the materials of this dripper. People love the plastic for heat retention but I preheat just off boiling, and keep the water a little higher than 205° To great results (for medium roasts). A tip to keep the wood base clean and dry - after brewing immediately pull off the glass funnel for rinsing / cleaning and put the base away. Later after cleaning the funnel pop the funnel back on. Otherwise if you get the base wet, it is a pain to get it and the rubber piece dry.
Great for one cup coffee, 250-300ml.Suggest getting the 2 cup filters to give yourself a bit more room for brewing and bloom. Follow recipes off youtube for best results.Wood is great quality and well finished
