I absolutely adore my Hatch and so does my husband. He was a skeptic at first but was still excited to be along for the ride. Now he absolutely will not go to bed without listening to some music on it or a pillow talk episode. We both really like the England show as well as Crime for Bed. Plus he insists rain plays while we sleep, if I forget or make it not automatically play after adding another pillow talk episode to the que, he will literally wake me up and ask me to play it lol. I have a lot of trouble falling asleep and staying asleep and now I can confidentially fall asleep very quickly. I even stopped setting alarms on my cell phone because I know the Hatch will wake me up. The only downfall I currently have is still having a problem with snoozing the alarm ... MoreI absolutely adore my Hatch and so does my husband. Ok so I originally bought this for the sunrise feature as someone who is not a morning person it’s been really nice! I usually wake up before the alarm even goes off. I think the light could be a little brighter but it still does the job and is brighter than I thought it would be. The unexpected part of the hatch that I LOVE is the unwind routine. I do have to pay monthly membership fees for this feature but it’s so worth it. I deal with a little bit of insomnia and raving thoughts at night but I have a body scan, meditation, and bed time story that plays every night and it has changed my sleep habits completely my mind is quite by the end of it and then I fall asleep like a normal person. If you’re on the fence and wouldn’t pay for the membership and just want to ... MoreOk so I originally bought this for the sunrise feature as someone who is not a morning person it’s been really nice! If you have trouble sleeping and are willing to pay the pretty inexpensive membership fee then absolutely get this!!! It’s also way easier to use than a manual alarm clock. As a super ADHD girly who has trouble with routine this is a game changer. Buy it lol

Overall, this is a powerful sleep/waking support technology that is helping me build consistency. I love the many components and the way I can schedule multi-sensory cues for both the end and the beginning of my days. With that said, there are some elements that I wish were different or more customizable: the light is too bright and the Hatch doesn't seem to meaningfully become less bright enough despite my attempted adjustments using the app. I can't put a time limit on the unwind cue, so I have to manually move to the unwind portion of my regimen. Not a big deal, but the less I have to do, the better. By contrast the need to manually move from the sunrise alarm to my morning moment IS good. Finally, the sounds available are just okay. Several other apps allow you to layer sound elements to create custom sounds, for example. There's a birdsong option that ends up sounding unnatural because of its rhythm and repetition, which is unfortunate considering the power it could have. It would be nice to have more options in the "soothing music you'd hear at acupuncture" range. The Aura app has good examples (though, as an app, it's overwhelming).

Hi! I continue to adore my Hatch Restore 2. I am so impressed with this company and its product. It has changed my sleeping and working habits. I adore Notes From England — please never retire it! I hope new episodes continue to populate because repeats are a small bummer. But it is still much more enjoyable than the attempt at Trivia of the Day, which failed in my eyes because it wasn't very time sensitive and didn't sync up to the actual day... Additionally, I've discovered the Restore 2 makes a great home office buddy. I wind up my work day with an alarm-less sunrise, and then I use the sleep settings as white noise to play in the background while working. I'd love to see more applications of the Hatch like this. From a tech perspective: I wish this was Bluetooth paired instead of WiFi connected — the hiccups appear to be beyond us, but the connectivity glitches get old. I also wish it could connect as a speaker for non-Hatch things. Finally, it would be nice if I could use the Hatch alarms, sounds, episodes, etc. directly from my app on my phone when I am traveling and away from my physical Hatch. I feel like this should be feasible because we can preview sounds from the app when we're close to the device. Why not be able to use it directly on my phone from afar? Thanks so much!
I love the Hatch and the sounds while sleeping have been a big help. One reason I decided to purchase this particular brand was because of the premium subscription having meditations. I used a different app before but was not able to listen to them on anything other than headphones. I had such high hopes. The selections on the library are slim and very few meditations to choose from. Biggest gripe is that you can’t add a whole series when adding meditations to your nighttime routine. All I can get is one part of the meditation that is 5 minutes long. Which is not enough to relax me enough to sleep. I did contact support, they responded quickly but it’s something they said would be passed along and taken into consideration. Overall, I really love the concept, and I believe the things I struggle with will eventually become easier to get accustomed to. The thing I hate the most is how DIFFICULT it is to turn on the clock. I have to tap all over the device a thousand times before I get it to turn on. The other two features (brightness and volume) work perfectly.I also don't like that, in order to "wake up," I have to first turn off the alarm, have the lights go off as a consequence, and then click on something else to get the lights back on and start my morning routine. I don't like the light interruption. It would be better to just click on something to wake up and keep the light on.I also don't like the fact that the light goes off again once the routine is over (which usually lasts 2 ... MoreOverall, I really love the concept, and I believe the things I struggle with will eventually become easier to get accustomed to. If I don't get up within those 2 minutes, it gets completely dark again. Why can't the light stay on?I generally wish there was a button just to turn the light on or off, to use it as a lamp as well as a clock.I've been using the device for over a week now, and I still haven't found what works for me. I find myself looking for new things every night instead of sticking to the same sounds. But that doesn't necessarily bother me.
The bedtime routines are great. Excellent sounds to choose from, no concerns there.I dont like the morning options. I wish there was a way for us to connect to bluetooth and play our own music in the morning. Or have more sound options that dont include words. The instrumental songs arent really boppy enough to actually get you up and moving. The app itself is a little frustrating to use. I bought the hatch with the goal of waking up more rested, as I still felt tired and groggy throughout the day after waking up. The hatch definitely makes my mornings easier, but I would advise some caution if you are someone that already struggles with getting up when their alarm goes off. I noticed I often have a habit of going back to bed until a second alarm, and since the sunrise is set over a long period, it is hard to set multiple alarms, but after having the hatch for a few weeks I was able to form a habit of actually getting up at the first alarm. I think the sunrise feature and gentle noise of the hatch has made forming that habit significantly easier.Beyond waking up, I have been falling asleep faster and easier since the hatch lets me form a habit and the bedtime routine I set up triggers my brain into "sleep mode." Like I mentioned with the waking up bit, the Hatch isn't going to magically change your life overnight. Your brain will need to adjust to a new routine and form new habits and the clock itself isn't going to do that for you. Most criticism I have seen seems to be because people expect the hatch to magically form these habits for you, and it will not, it will require some effort on your end as well. Additionally, a lot of the criticism comes in regarding the price and subscription.I will say the hatch is pricey (obviously) so buying one is a significant decision. I bought mine with a coupon while it was on sale, so it was more manageable, and I don't have the subscription. I do think it's frustrating to have a subscription when your product is already at a high price point, but they want to continue making money off of their alarms after selling, which is a smart business model from the revenue perspective. Because you are paying for a luxury product, I do think maybe the free library could be expanded some, but I find that I have little want for the subscription, as it doesn't seem entirely worth it to me. I also have some ideas for future hatch developments, such as adding a speaker feature so users could play their own selection of white noise or something similar off YouTube, which may entice customers who already use YouTube to help fall asleep. Additionally perhaps setting up a routine that starts automatically at a specific time at night (this may be a thing I haven't really tried it). Overall I think this product is a good product, I just hope the company doesn't become greedy and further restrict the free options when their product is already priced so high!
I was riding the struggle bus when it came to my sleep. I was getting maybe 4-5 hours of sleep, it was taking 2-4 hours to fall asleep every night, and I had to take melatonin every single night to fall asleep. I honestly was not convinced that my Restore 2 was going to help me fall asleep but I was desperate. The very first morning I woke up easier then I had in over a year and over the course of the last few weeks I've developed a better nighttime routine. I put my phone away during my "unwind" time and take time to relax and journal and then once my "sleep" sounds come on I close my eyes and drift off pretty quickly. My sunrise alarm is just as wonderful. I wake up to a beautiful natural sunrise which is much needed during Daylight Savings Time and my "morning moment" is birds chirping. I'm not sure I could have asked for a better way to wake up. It gives me time to adjust from the darkness to being able to turn the lights on in the morning. I'm sleeping more consistently, I'm getting at least 7+ hours of sleep a night, I'm falling asleep so much faster, developing a great routine which has helped me feel more relaxed, and I no longer dread getting out of bed in the morning. Is it expensive? Yes, but if you value your sleep then it's an investment I would encourage you to make.
This alarm clock plays brown noise which is helpful, but there are zero wake-up sounds that actually wake me up. Everything is soothing and relaxing and lulls me back to sleep. The one energizing playlist they have is EDM music with a terrifying DJ voice that would startle me awake in a horrible way. It’s not that difficult to build a sound machine, and alarm clock that both puts people to sleep and adequately wakes them up. The entire machine also feels cheaply made for the price. For example. I have the clock face set to show up when tapped and i have to do so at least 5 times. It also feels like light-weight cheaply made plastic. Not to mention it’s $5 a month for more sound options…. What sound options? Still slim picking and for the price it should be possible ... MoreThis alarm clock plays brown noise which is helpful, but there are zero wake-up sounds that actually wake me up. Don’t love that it also needs wifi to function properly.Extremely disappointed and will be looking for an alternative. There’s no reason this unit should be more than $40.
