Great paddle, the older version of this paddle was my very first pickleball purchase! Very few paddles come close to the satisfaction that this one brings when hitting the ball in the sweet spot. The sound is unparalleled.
I am a beginner pickleball player and know nothing about the sport. I wanted a mid-price paddle and this was on sale, so it seemed a good bet. I've owned Head tennis equipment, so the name familiarity was reassuring. It appears to be last year's model, and that's fine with me. I'm sure it will be a better paddle than I am a player. And I like the colour.
While new paddles continue to appear every week, Head continues to produce excellent paddles. Head has been a leader in composite technology in tennis for decades. Their composite expertise carries over into pickleball paddles. These paddles consistently produce well on the court.
The ball explodes off this racquet which can take a little getting used to at first and makes deadening hard shots a little harder. It also has a smaller sweet spot then other racquets I've used. Nevertheless it makes long shots easier and more accurate since less force is required. So it is kind of a trade off. It definitely is a high performance racquet for 3 plus or better players. I found the 5" grip length to be no longer and even shorter than the 4 1/4 grip length racquets I have used before.
Bought several rackets.- This entry level head “extreme elite”- 120 head (second favorite)- entry level Selkirk (scratched terribly with two uses)- low and high end monarch (everything about monarch feels “soft” or squishy- Onix z5 (the fave)This extreme elite racket feels nice in the hand. Requires more power than the more expensive rackets we have, so we don’t play with it much, but it’s the best $60 racket we tried. The surface has held up well.I really like the head grip—my tennis and racquetball rackets are head—The grip is superior to the onix, but I love the feel and sound when the ball makes contact with the onix. For now the three players in our family all have the same fave—z5. And we rotate who gets to use the fave—user usually wins!
I am new to the sport so I decided to go with an upper mid-range paddle and I was not disappointed. I have used head tennis racquets before so I trust the brand. Solid construction, pretty good surface grip, nice sweet spot and lovely grip though next time I will remember to remove the plastic cover before I use it. All in all a good deal for a racquet that will last me a couple of years
I used this to replace my SLK paddle after I developed tennis elbow. This paddle is thicker and m instructor told me it would help with aim. I’m not sure if it’s the new paddle, or the instruction, but my aim is better now. It’s also lighter weight then the SLK and my tennis elbow is improving.
This is a very nice handling paddle. The first thing I noticed was the comfortable grip that allows you to remain in control of the paddle at all times (the paddle never turns in your hand). The second thing that stood out was the perfect weight - light enough to maneuver easily but with enough mass to drive the ball to the back of the court. The surface also allows you to impart spin on the ball. Overall, a very playable paddle.
I didn't realize this didn't have a surface designed to put spin on the ball (the next level up does) when I bought it, but I've found it doesn't matter. I can get tons of spin with this, way more than my last paddle. This paddle is amazing. Tons of pop. My son says too much pop. He didn't like that he kept hitting it too far. Super light. I'm about to become unbeatable.
Bought this Head paddle 3 months ago and couldn’t be happier with it! Great control, lots of power and control. Surface allows you to put extra spin on the ball! Lightweight paddle allows great paddle speed! Very pleased!
