Pretty good and light hand tool. Brilliant for shaping smaller shrubs and carefully cutting challenging undercarriages of bushes. It works really well with larger and smaller one battery and the battery life with small or large is pretty good. Cutting is very good with smaller leaves and branches but nothing beyond 1cm. All in all a great addition to the gardening toolbox. Specialist move is shaping.

The (smaller) Grass Shears are surprisingly effective - and excellent for around edges; beneath bushes; around the washing line, etc. The (larger) Shrub Trimmer is great for branches up to a certain girth and much lighter and more manoeuverable than the Hedge Trimmer, Pruning Chainsaw or 30cm Chainsaw which I just swap the battery into for more the bigger more challenging branches & tree trunks. The Shrub Trimming blade is housed in a hard plastic sheath however the ONLY disappointment is that the Grass Shear blade only has a pathetic thin, polythene wrap on them. Bought this grass shear and shrubber recently. I have found it ideal for trimming a privet hedge and some other shrubs. It does an excellent job and is nicely balanced with the weight of the battery. It does have a safety latch but I always remove the battery when swapping the blades to make doubly sure of no mishaps! Very pleased with my purchase.

Works really well, and goes with all my other Ryobi tools (yes I have a tool wall). The blade on the trimmer I had before (not Ryobi) was as blunt as a blunt thing, the price of a replacement blade for it was ridiculous so I got a complete new one from Ryobi and an additional spare blade for only a few quid more than just the blade for my other one so yeah it’s safe to say I’m happy with it.
Very easy to use with excellent balance. Both cutting sheers are sharp and excellent quality steal. This product is an excellent addition to my Ryobi +200 collection as I can use the same battery for all of my tools.
Brilliant tool.Used the grass shear to shape 7 small bushes into balls, used a 2 battery and it lasted the job which took 2 hours. Very happy.Makes short work of the grass edges toođź‘Ť.Only put 4 stars for value because everything could be cheaper. Having said that I am happy with the cost...
The safety and trigger are too far apart so it makes one handed very difficult. Speed of blade cutter very slow. Why is there a electric port but unit does not come with a cable? Product needs more muscle.
The request for this review is unfortunate timing to be honest.I used the trimmer for the 1st time this morning. With no cutting action taking place it seemed well balanced and minimal vibration, however as soon as I started cutting the blade fell off the main unit. I checked the fitting, and re read the manual, but each time any cutting was attempted the blade fell off. This was trimming a shrub with branches around 3 to 5 mm max.I will be requesting a replacement, as I have other Ryobi tools and never had any issues whatsoever.
The shrubber joins my stable of Ryobi tools, all of which are absolutely outstanding and the shrubber is no different. It is extremely lightweight, comfortable and easy to use, making very short work of shaping and pruning my numerous shrubs. I prefer to use the lighter 2A battery rather than the 4A battery in the unit in order to retain its lightness. The battery has not run out whilst I have been trimming.In conclusion, an excellent tool, lightweight and easy to use.
Works as expected. Have not tackled any really thick twigs yet, but it has handled lavender well. The shortness makes it very easy to work around shrubs.
