A well fitting but fragile jacket. Unfortunately, the outer shell material is very thin/flimsy/fragile. A brush with a small tree left an entire arm panel ripped open (damage beyond the surface scratch). This was after only 3 days on the mtn. I have never owned another ski jacket that became damaged so easily. Once ripped, you can see the shell fabric is paper thin. This is a real bummer because the style and fit of the jacket is otherwise excellent. The collar is the best feature on this jacket. It stands up on its own when zipped up, rather than being floppy like some others. It cuts the wind and is just the right height. The hood is a bit small/tight over a helmet, but it seems to be a concession to not obstructing your side view which is a fair trade. The shell ... MoreA well fitting but fragile jacket. The shell seems fully water and windproof for the few days I wore it. The jacket is a bit short for boarders bending down to strap in, but I had no issues when combined with bibs. The jacket itself is very warm. If you ski/ride only occasionally and run cold, this is an adequate choice. If you want a jacket to last many years, I'm not sure this is it.

Was tossing up between the alpha 4.0 and the alpha Lifaloft. I’m so glad I formally tried them both on, given I knew my size. I’m a pure resort on-piste skier, and the LL suits me down to the ground. Its coupled with the legendary insulated bib pant. Was worried I might run too hot, but wasn’t disappointed. Highly recommend HH.

I am from the south and usually do not do well in cold weather. Wore HH Insulated Ski jacket on a recent ski trip to Park City Utah, Mid 30's during the day and low 20's at night, and could not be more satisfied. All day skiing and stayed warm, almost too warm, had to remove baselayer. Lightweight and not bulky, accessible pockets for money, phone and ski lift tickets.

This is an excellent jacket. Of course it has great reviews, which got me to look at it. But when I finally had real physical experience with it, I was instantly sold. The fit, with 4-way stretch, and light but warm insulation, is really nice. You can feel the top notch quality. It looks great. Really functional, including wrist gators and adjustable cuffs work perfectly with my gloves. And the gel insulated life pocket that keeps my phone warm (and battery working) is a nice touch. #sweepstakes
I agree with Justin Y. I bought the ‘22 version of the jacket. I wore it a few times during the winter of ‘22-‘23. Great fit, style and warmth. I wore it maybe 15-20 days during winter of ‘23. By the end of the season the stitching along the zippers was getting undone. Also had a rip in the shoulder without obvious contact with tree branches. I returned it. HH would not give me a new one as replacement because even though the jacket came fro Backcountry it was purchased through Amazon. I finished the season using my 16 year old Arcteryx sidewinder. If you truly want something that’s bulletproof, look no further than Arcteryx goretex shells.
I really liked this jacket, but the fit was a bit off. I ended up returning it.Things I liked:@ *Love* the navy colour with the red/white trim.@ The collar is super-cozy when you're fully zipped up.@ Lots of good pockets, well-positioned: hand warmers, napoleon pockets, interior glove. @ The left Napoleon chest pocket has a built-in glasses cloth. Nice touch.Things I didn't like:@ I'm 5'8", 170lbs, 33" waist and usually wear medium everything. The medium jacket fit to put it on, but not to move actively. The jacket has stretch, but when moving out out a neutral position, the jacket wants to pull you back to neutral. I probably should have ordered large.I didn't wear it out so can't comment on warmth, wind resistance, etc.
Great fit, on the slim side. If you want room size up. It is very warm and easy to move in without being overly bulky. Pockets are awesome - placed perfectly and functional. I loved everything about this jacket but my waterproofing failed. Customer service from HH and MJ has been amazing. Both were quick to respond and they are standing behind their product. I’m exchanging now and turn around only took a day.
Great fit, definitely runs small. I am between a L or an XL at 6'1" between 200-210lbs. I ordered XL and it fits great, good fit and cut. Still enough space to add a fleece layer if needed when it gets cold. If I didn't want extra space and would only ever wear a base layer with no layering, a L probably would have been great for a form/slim fit.Color looks good and is as pictured.Jacket has all the features you could possibly want... wrist gaiters, wrist pocket for a pass, good zippers, good cut/fit, pow skirt, removable hood, pockets are well sized, etc.Just got it in October, so no winter experience. Quality looks and feels solid. I have no reason to expect anything other than solid performance in the winter.
I have a fairly slim build, typically wear a small with no issue, but this was considerably too tight. I could zip it but just couldn't make it work. A medium's arms and proportions didn't work, so I decided to return. Wish it fit, because it's definitely a nice jacket!
I am really enjoying this jacket this ski season. Bought at end of 2023 ski season. I am 6'-1" and 180lb and got a size Medium. Fit is snug but I wouldn't want a large as it would be too baggy. Probably not a lot of room for additional layers underneath besides a long underwear top but it keeps me plenty warm skiing in high teens and into the 20's. Only negative is the powder skirt doesn't really get tight enough to stay in place or keep the snow out in a good crash. Like the hand loops to keep the sleeves tucked into my gloves.
