I think this is the third Helly Hansen raincoat I’ve had since the mid-1990s! As soon as I wear one to death (I’m pretty rough on my gear), I simply order another one from HH. I’ve always been impressed with the weatherproof capacity, breathability and fit of HH raincoats… and love the features (tuck-away hood, zipper pockets, internal pocket, velcro cuffs). This HH crew hooded jacket is as expected: Top quality, great fit, great performance. I’ve now had it for a month and wear it at least weekly… I’m confident it will work great for many years… they always do.

I won this jacket at a work event at no charge to me so it was (tastefully) embroidered with some additional vendor logos. Its probably the best 'swag' I ever came home with from a professional conference as its very stylish, surprisingly light weight, and warmer than I expected. The micro fleece feels very cozy against your skin and I expect this to quickly replace my heavier winter coat for most days in daily use. I like the high collar and tuck away hood that is always there for unexpected bad weather. The only complaint I have (and others have that received the same jacket at my company) is that the sizes run small. This would be the perfect midlayer fall jacket for my husband if it weren't for the 5 large logos. It's hard to tell from the photos, but the logos are huge and bright - It looked somewhat obnoxious when my husband put it on. He loved the fit, the material, the shape, and colors - but could not get past the logos shouting "I'M WEARING HELLY HANSEN" all over this jacket. Really too bad, because otherwise it's a clear winner.
I bought the Crew mid layer jacket two years ago and reported the failure of the jackets waterproof layer to Hullaballoo in South Africa. They did not take any responsibility for the defect. I like the brand a lot and bought another hooded jacket. Time will tell if it fails again.
The mesh it saw in photos looked like pockets, so handy for temporary phone or glass case storage…But alas, when I put something in there, they fell straight out of the bottom..They’re not pockets at all, not sure what their purpose is, however can’t see any issue with doubling their purpose from whatever they do to actual pockets, just need the bottom stitched .Other than this disappointment, nice enough rain jacket.Oh wouldn’t mind hood storage included either, but I knew that before purchasing. .
I like the waterproofing and the fit.Few things that keep it from checking all the boxes for me. No pit zips! I feel this should be standard on all jackets but that my opinion.It is absolutely covered in HH logos! Like a lot. It’s kinda obnoxious.The fleece lining on the inside makes the sleeves a bit grabby so it always takes a while to get a long sleeve shirts sleeves readjusted.
We took a Viking cruise, where I saw this jacket. It's perfect for any cooler weather short of serious cold. It is Waterproof, windproof, and it has the softest thin polartek lining. There are a million waterproof, windproof jackets, but the addition of that lining makes this jacket a rare gem. I ordered this lovely navy blue jacket in mens (L) as womens sizes just don't fit me as well in the shoulders as mens do. That also means that this is a bit longer on me; another plus. There are lots of pockets, and the collar/ hood works really well to keep out breezes. For this quality, i was happy to pay full price.
I live in a warmer climate where there’s a a lot of rain. This jacket is still perfect for the chill of winter and for the warmer, rainier day. I’ve found the outer shell performs very well and a torrential downpour while the inner fabric remains breathable and cool. The fit/cut is also worth a notable mention. It gets a lot of compliments. Get it!
I purchased this for my daughter for college sailing as it is pretty cool right now on the waters of Maine . She has stayed so warm & dry. I purchased a men's medium so she would be able to layer . It fits but a bit snug for layering. I have to say that compared to other brands which she was tried if you want to layer a heavyweight hoodie under it for warmth than size up. She picked the Fjord Blue which is gorgeous ! We are still looking for Salopettes that are a bit more affordable but not many places carry them for sailing & if they do they are very high priced ! Helly is a brand we love ! Thanks Helly ! And Moosejaw is our favorite place ! We were very happy to see they carried some sailing gear! Please carry some more !
