One of the best Vests I’ve ever owned and well worth the price tag. Like most Helly Hansen products, you’re getting what you pay for!If you enjoy wearing vests and after something that looks great and keep you warm, I cant recommend this vest enough.

I have the Midlayer vest and jacket, as well as a crew jacket and now a red Crew vest. As others said, it's a little trim fitting, but not like "technical" clothes (a certain Italian cycling brand with a scorpion logo comes to mind). If you wear a medium in regular clothes, get a medium, if you want to layer a lot, size up. The vest doesn't have a lot of features like fancy venting or mesh or other nonsense. What it does is provide a durable semipermeable membrane fabric with a functional mesh lining and durable construction for a comparatively reasonable price, in decent colors.I'm generally a medium in non-fashion, non-technical clothes (luckily I'm neither fashionable nor cool, so I wear what works for me). Land's End oxford shirts, tourist t-shirts, my big Icelandic sweaters, et cetera. In I'm 5'7" (1,7 m) with a 40" (102 cm) chest with a round rib cage – seriously, my lower ribs protrude a little. I'm 175 lbs (80 kilos) with a 30" inseam (76 cm ... my bike legs make trousers nearly impossible to buy, especially with everything being "skinny" or "slim" fit). The vest doesn't allow me actually to layer. It's comfortable with a boring cotton t-shirt and non-cool oxford shirt with enough room to breathe, eat lunch and move around. I find the armholes to be oddly perfect; and the high collar, like on the other Helly Hansen Crew series jackets and vests, is ideal. If it's cold enough for me to start layering with sweaters, I'll probably reach for something with sleeves. I like these jackets so much I may actually get an otherwise oversized Crew Midweight (for me a large) to fit over my Norwegian and Icelandic sweaters.I do have one complaint: the lining of the collar. While it's soft and comfortable, it's also a little warm. It would be nice if the lining wasn't there. My vest arrived earlier today (lightning fast, free shipping to Portland, OR) so I didn't genuinely get a chance to wear it. I imagine it will be as good as the other Crew series jackets and vests I have. I plan to wear this on crisp mornings and evenings and during some travel. I'll probably bring it with me when I ride the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route this July.I find that vests allow me to have an always-on layer that can supplement an outer hard shell layer and/or provide some wind and light precipitation protection over a base layer. If the weather is iffy and a little cooler and/or windy I can wear the vest over a 3/4 zip base layer (which is generally over a t-shirt) and stay pretty comfortable. Over that, I can wear a packable rain shell or even a Helly Hansen Crew jacket if I'm not moving or weather goes sideways. A real-world example: Stash the rain shell riding up the giant hill, wear it riding down the big hill. The Helly Hansen Crew Vest stays on and keeps me comfortable. In casual, day-to-day settings, like walking the dog this evening, when worn with the cotton t-shirt and oxford, the Helly Hansen Crew Vest was comfortable in the late-day shade and light breeze. For comparison, this Crew Vest fits a tiny bit looser than the Midweight Crew Vest I purchased on a whim at the Helly Hansen store in Banff, AB, Canada (before I left to ride a northern part of the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route). I don't know if the insulation in the Midweight makes it fit tighter, or if Helly Hansen had a design change. Either way, I found the Crew Vests layer nicely with the Crew jackets.

I was looking to get a vest that looked great with a dress shirt, as well as casual wear. I couldn’t be more pleased with the fit and finish of this vest. Helly Hanson did an amazing job designing this vest; from the logos to the red hanging hook on the back and the soft inside collar. I loved this vest so much I bought my wife one. She loves her vest as well. Huge fan of this brand and I’m sure I’ll add Helly products over time. Highly recommended!!

7 Grey Crew Line Polo Driftline et 7 Crew Midlayer Vest for The Fleurbaix Yachting Club, for adding our personal team logo. Great quality et great efficacy in the windy zone of Marseille - France. The quick-dry Tactel tissue is well appropriate for sailing and the waterproof warm Midlayer Crew Vest is perfectly complementary. We are now the most beautiful sailing team in Marseille!!!
The vest is versatile in different weather conditions. You can wear it on its own during mild cold conditions and wear it as an inner layer during colder weather without getting too hot. It would also be a great vest for golfers.
As part of Abilyn Racing, my co-skipper and I began wearing the HH crew vest while racing the 21-foot Mini Transat boat Abilyn. As a sailor, i go through a lot of vests. Out of all that I've worn, the HH crew vest fits best and is great in chilly conditions as the collar is high enough to cover your mouth. Also--and important for sailing gear--the zippers are oversized and robust. The vest is also great for being active on land. I wear my crew vest both on and off the boat, including at the playground with my kids (which is the best kind of "training").JoshHH Ambassador
So, i am up to three HH crew vests - red, white and blue - and i continue to get compliments no matter which one i wear. The comfort level is incredible and i can wear it all year round. The brand is of the highest quality and i wear each of them proudly. The HH products should be sold in every retail store :). I continue to look for their new clothing. I can't get enough!
I am very happy with my new Crew Vest. I purchased it as my son decided he liked my original Crew Vest and began wearing it all the time. I find the Crew Vest to be ideal for wind and rain protection whilst been light in weight and a perfect match to have over my mid layer HH garments.
Helly Hansen is in a class of its own! Unfortunately, my vehicle was stolen last December in Lake Tahoe and I had most of my Helly Hansen gear. Jackets, vests, base layer, mid-layers, etc. As I can afford it, I'm slowly getting my HH wardrope back. Life is just not the same, but look forward to replacing everything I lost. Helly Hansen for LIFE!!
This is made for a much slimmer person - admittedly, I am NOT a slim person, but, I'm also not obese or even fat. The vest looks beautiful, and appears to be made well. However, it is a "trim fit", and is tight, especially towards the bottom as it appears to be tapered - honestly, I don't think the XL would have fit any better than the L. Additionally, the arm holes are tiny (compared to, say, my Patagonia vest), so if you have any kind of arm muscularity, this is going to pinch your armpits severely.
