Fantastic waterproof, windproof, breathable jacket. This jacket has a much better fit than any I have owned. It has a generous fit in the upper body and slimmer fit around the waist, so no excessive material to make it look baggy. Great quality with YKK front zip and pockets. Draw cord adjustable hood and hem. Ideal jacket for any season. Highly recommend this item.

Built Great, Nearly Ideal

I'm very pleased with the quality and fit of this jacket. It has so far worked well in the rain. Fit and quality are greatlI only have two minor complaints:One is that the color "Aluminum" is better described as khaki. I was hoping for more of a grey color. It's still a good looking jacket,though.The other is that is that it lacks a drawstring on the rear of the hood to contract the sides and allow you to suck the hood down tight to your head similar to designs like The North Face. The open hood limits visibility and a drawstring on the back of the hood would dramatically improve it.

Good casual rain jacket.

The fabric is a little stiff for my liking right out from the packaging. But I believe it should become come supple with use. Best use of the jacket is for casual wear and light outdoor activity. Would also work as a winter shell with some layering but will likely need to be sizes up. Great colour.

Good for the price

The jacket is good quality and it fits true to size. I'm a 42" chest and a large fits nicely. I have not had the opportunity to use it in rainy weather yet, however i have used it as a shell or windbreaker for hikes. The material blocks wind nicely, however at this price it does not use high tech breathable fabric, nor does it have any vent flaps or advanced construction features to manage perspiration. There is an inner mesh layer that increases the comfort for light duty activities. It would be nice to have a pocket inside, however that didn't factor into my decision to purchase. This is a nice looking, well made simple garment that works for me.

Great Jacket. Slow to ship.

Excellent Jacket. Large size fits long arms well. The ox blood color is much darker than the photo on Marks.Ordered online on Boxing Day. Took 4 weeks to get it.Overall happy with jacket. Would try to buy instore next time as orders were slow to ship and arrive.

Great for growing teen

Light this jacket and another for comparison. He loved the mat black look and Velcro wrists are best for growing teen. My only disappointment is that this is a water resistant jacket and not fully waterproof.

It works!

Bought this for my teen son to wear on his bike ride to and from school. He needed something that's waterproof for the West Coast rain but breathable (if he works up a sweat). No complaints from him so far! I wish it had a packable pocket or pouch so that it's a bit more protected when he shoves it into his backpack.

Purchase this jacket for my 14yo son. Fits perfectly, looks great on him. I bought the grey one and the color is fabulous. He wears it with a hoodie under and feels great with the actual weather (8-15 C°). The waterproof needs to be tested but it's promising.

The Best of the Old, The Best of the New

I had a Helly Hansen shell jacket for fifteen years. It was the best, it never failed. Then during a move, it was lost. I was given another company's jacket, but 8t was not good enough. I live in Seattle where some form of precipitation occurs much of the year. Often, the weather's not so cold but always wet. As soon as this arrived, we had a hevier-than-usual rain and I put it to the test. I stayed dry, with the hood. This is better than my old Helly. Velcro (or some generic version) tape at the wrist. One velcro-closed inside pocket on the right. Two zippered slash pockets on the outside. It's just like I remembered, only better. I liked it so well I bought a vest and a down jacket too.

Why are clothing sizes not standardized

I am a large person. I need large clothes. I got this in 5x. I have a Columbia coat in 4x that fits and a Columbia pullover that has plenty of room. I know these are different brands but how can brands vary so greatly? Makes no sense. The 5x of this rain jacket was about 3-4 inches from the zippers being able to even touch, just to give a visual of the size difference. I did look at the size chart and thought it would be fine, but was very, very wrong. I do think this is a good look jacket and seems to be very well built. But I have always found Columbia to run just slightly small so this runs way, way too small. I will be returning this.
