I bought this jacket about a month ago for outdoor seasonal work in Southeast Alaska. It has proven to be the best rain jacket I've ever purchased. The rubberized surface of the jacket is the absolute best and keeps me completely dry! I've already experienced days of heavy rain and this jacket stands up to the test. I am 5'4, 113 lbs. and bought the small size, which proved very spacious and provided more than ample room for layering underneath. I also appreciate that the jacket hangs a little lower than the hips, as these extra couple of inches seem to really make a difference in keeping my legs a little drier. The jacket is awesome. It is the only coat that keeps me dry in rainy weather. It’s also yellow and yellow is the color of chicks when they have just hatched. This is my second Helly Hansen Moss Jacket and I love it! I literally worn the first one out. I live in Oregon, and umbrellas are for wusses. My dog and I walk three to five miles every day, so I need a coat that keeps me dry in any kind of rain shower, and in Oregon, we get them all. This coat is light weight, but heavy duty. I buy it one size larger so I can layer over sweaters and coats. I've never had a problem with the zipper or snaps, and the hood truly keeps my head dry. I hated throwing my old red one away, but I love my new yellow one. It makes me feel cute too!
For starters, I love the colour. Being a woman working in the canadian bush, pink is downright refreshing (purple would be nice too, or a blue), compared to the yellow, green or black that I used to only find. I really liked the snaps on the wrists, I bought a size up on purpose so I'd have the option to layer heavily and therefore the sleeves are a tad long but it doesnt matter because of those snap buttons! I also like the snaps on the zipper, definitely keeps water out. The pockets are a nice design, I find that even in torrential downpours, water doesnt get in. The hood is compatible with helmets, a definite plus. Not to mention the jacket is long enough to cover my butt! All in all, a great bush jacket.
I ordered the yellow, and it is a very lovely classic yellow raincoat. The material is thin so it keeps it light, and can be rolled up relatively easily. It is not that compact, but does fit into a backpack. You'll need to layer underneath if using in the winter or during heavy rain. I ordered a small and it is a little loose on me (the sleeves are long so I fold them up), so don't worry about ordering a size up. My only annoyance is that there is no inner pocket, even though there is space for one.
Used in heavy downpour and it kept me dry. Substantial fabric yet lightweight. Is a boxy shape and could use a few bells and whistle’s. For the price you can’t go wrong and has a hood.
Fits as described. I need a fisherman style raincoat because I go on a lot of hikes and adventures rain or shine. Also, yellow is my absolute favourite colour and this matches my fisherman style rainboots. It also comes with a little repair patch. I’ve tested it out in some heavy rainfall and aside from my own sweat, I was perfectly dry underneath. This does not have vents like those technical rain coats so I suggest wearing this in cooler weather and not those crazy hot rainstorm days.
I’ll just say that I like everything about this raincoat. It’s comfortable, fits just the way I wanted it to fit and serves the purpose I purchased it for with no exceptions. I highly recommend it to anyone for comfortable rain protection?
