I have limited space but had to drive some high quality Bowers and Wilkins speakers. The best solution for my needs. The speakers love some power and the Heos amp delivers plenty. My one and only quibble is I wish sometimes there was a simple, dedicated IR or IP remote that would offer simple volume up/down mute and standby functionality. Sometimes bringing the app on my iOS device Into focus takes longer than I would like when I need to turn the volume down NOW because the phone is ringing. Especially when the phone is same one I'm using to control the amp. Small quibble with an excellent product.

In fact, the biggest factor in my decision-making process was to find an amp that had integrated BT so that I save myself the hassle of an HDMI-optical connection. Tried everything to solve the issue but all I was left with a disclaimer on Denon's site that there will be a delay due to the digital compression, or something like that. An app on a mobile device sends control signals to the Heos amp which tell it to tune into an online radio feed, a music server on the LAN, a source attached to one of the inputs on the Heos amp, or stream from the mobile device using bluetooth. The ability to save stations as favorites is very nice.The default setup is for the amp and the app to both use wifi except when streaming from a mobile device over Bluetooth. This means that typical wifi problems can arise such as the mobile device losing connectivity when someone is at the door, and the music is loud. I do not have any connectivity issues between the Heos amp and the internet radio feeds or my music server. The ability to use a wired Ethernet connection with its associated reliability over wifi is a huge plus.Needing to be able to control the Heos amps immediately at all times, I mounted the mobile devices on the walls of the rooms with Heos amps, and I hard wired POE Ethernet to all of them, so I do not have any connectivity problems at work.The app seriously needs some additions. When opening the app on a mobile device, the app doesn't always go back to the Heos amp it last controlled. So, it's easy to send a command to the wrong amp. Maybe your daughter turns on the music in your room by mistake at midnight, or maybe the people in the front office turn on the music in your office by mistake and keep changing the station and volume wondering why it's not affecting the music in the front office. Denon really has to either let the user set a default amp for the app on each mobile device to control, or they have to make the app automatically go back the amp it last controlled until the user changes the setting.Also, it would be nice to be able to save things other than radio feeds as favorites. For example, to get to the audio files on your music server, you have to click multiple times (for example using a Synology server, you click Music Servers, Name of Server, Music, and then By Folder, By Artist, etc.). It would be nice to be able to save "Music Servers/Name of Server/Music/By Folder" as a favorite similar to how you can save of shortcut on your computer desktop.To summarize, a great product if you need only one. A good product if you need multiple units for a house, office, etc, but it would be great with the app changes mentioned above.
Setup is time consuming but very straight forward. I set up and grouped four amps including Alexa in about one hour. It is a set it and forget it system with Alexa as the DJ. The sound quality is only as good as your in wall/ceiling speakers, I installed B&W wired speakers and the sound quality is absolutely amazing. Next is getting and setting up a Denon HEOS AVR with surround 7.2
I bought this while in the process of building a new house. Audio company installed it. They sold me on two things that are not accurate. I was advised I could play music from my phone or mac and that is not the case. I was able to play my Itunes from my iPad mini but it freezes up and I have no chance playing any of my google play music. One other thing, I was told I could patch my audio from my tv to my speakers. The issue with that is it is about a 2 second delay. I have no desire for my tv to be like an old 60's Godzilla movie where the audio does not match the movement of the mouth. The audio apps that run radio and amazon work perfectly.

The only problem I have ever seen had to do with the network itself, the entire HEOS system runs on the network, so you need to make sure you have a good router. Why not include a simple resume / stop button on the actual Heos device? I hate having to bring up a phone / laptop or similar to just simply stop the music. Also the volume up/down are so hidden, they could have been a nice and user friendly knob instead. But my main issue with this device is all the bugs that Denon just never seems to care to fix. From the ear shattering volume jumping up and down sporadically when using Spotify, to many tunes from Spotify always loosing the fist few seconds of the song. I mean come on Denon is this really hifi? I was told this was a high quality product, but I'm so disappointed. Will never get another Heos device.

The install was not difficult as I let my kids (16 and 12) set it up and no they are not super computer nerds. All they know is I turn on the computer and it works. They simply read the instructions and were able to install with little to no assistance.The connectivity is good and works well. Not sure how long it will last. Overall, the product is alright but as I mentioned before, the HEOS app is not that great. I would research other wireless systems prior to purchasing this one. Maybe the networking app is better. I'm not naming any brands cuz I want my review to be taken for face value. I'm not a competitor and I am a genuine reviewer.
Not sure this was the right purchase for us. We’ve had nothing but problems with it since we installed it almost 2 years ago. We have 4 amps and 6 zones. And they are constantly “disconnecting”. We had geek squads come out numerous times to reboot the system. After a while they stopped coming out and said it was no longer their problem. The sound bar in the living room has never worked with the heos. “Not discoverable”. We’ve now hired a sound guy to come in and hard wire all the amps but the sound bar still doesn’t work. Very frustrated. Maybe the sound bar is defective ? Why didn’t the geek squad suggest this 2 years ago??
