A Very Quality Stand, Not As Compact As I Had Hoped

I bought this stand to have a quality, transportable music stand to use at home and on the go. For a portable music stand, the Hercules is extremely high quality and heavy duty. The construction and materials are excellent. At home, it is extremely stable and capable to handle my large stack of music books that I am currently working with. The desk is quite large (9"H outer edge, 12"H in the middle, X 16.5"W), and that is not including the extra arms which expand the outer edge another 6.5" in width if you go straight out. It handles a 3 page spread easily. And the little wire paper holders are excellent as well. They are very sturdy and long, which makes anchoring stiff books that don't want to bend or light paper that want to fly off non-issues. Also, the easy roller to alter the desk angle is also very sturdy. This was one thing I was nervous about. It seems to me it will likely never have an issue in keeping it's place. And the clutchless grip is also a nice feature. This one does have a tendency to creep down a little, so I end up playing with it a bit as I'm practicing, but I think this can easily be fixed if I tighten the wing on the bottom.Fully extended, it stands about 58" tall, and fully compact it is about 27" tall, 5" wide. I was hoping that it would be a bit smaller in it's compact size, so that it can easily fit into my music bag. Not at all close to the same size as my cheezy, cheap $15 music stand from my local music store. I was hoping it would be shorter to make transportation easy. What it lacks in it's compact size it easily makes up for in quality. So in the end, I think this is a good trade off since I am using it both as my home stand and portable stand.

10My favorite out of the 5 I have tried. It is the sturdiest yet. I love the ease with which the stand adjusts. Just push it up or down, back or forth and it stays. Only drawback, is that it is a little heavier than the others, but it's worth it to have a stand that will support my heavy music book.My clarinet stand is excellent, too, and I now will look at Hercules products first before anything else.

Good solution for portability-but touchy
22 May 2013

Offers a lot of functionality at a good price. Portability w/ relative stability are it's best features - also like the page holding wires and extending desk bars.I have difficulty adjusting the telescoping height clutch. You have to turn the tension adjuster when it is fully collapsed, and then extend it to see if it's tight enough to stay standing. The margin between two tight and too loose is very close, and the adjuster does not "click" like the instructions say. Be careful not to impale yourself while pushing and pulling with a tight (but not tight enough) setting!

Great Stand, While it Lasted
2 January 2017

I bought one of these several years ago, and loved how quick it was to set up, and how stable it was. However, despite my only using it for lightweight folders, the mechanism that tightens the base became stripped. I would still hold up the stand, but there was no height adjustment, unless I used my trusty duct tape. I wrote Hercules about getting a replacement part for the base, but after they asked me to send them a pic of what part, I never heard back again, despite repeated follow-up emails.I've been playing professionally a long time, and most manufacturers understand that if they take care of their customers, we'll be loyal for life, as well as recommend their products to others. However, I got no further response, but continued to use the stand, until my NYE gig Saturday night. That's when the tightening mechanism of the top part of the stand also gave out, refusing to go any higher than the base of the legs, so it's done... I'll now have to look for another stand, hopefully one that's sturdy, as well as backed by its manufacturer...

Great product ruined by operational instructions.

The operational instructions are atrocious. I was going to return the stand until I sussed how to use it. The quality and value is good but spoiled by the idiotic instructions.

Hercules BS110B music stand
22 January 2012

I bought the optional travel case to go with it, and it's a good investment. The bag is solidly made and has a strap to toss it over your shoulder.Sturdy stand that doesn't tip over easily. The fact that you can raise and lower it without having to turn a screw is a plus. I cut off the wire page holders so I could attach an accessory tray to the shelf for holding pencils and glasses. My only suggestion is that I wish it would go just a little lower (it goes plenty high). I'm short and I wear bifocals, so I need a stand that goes really low when I'm sitting in a chair.I've owned my stand for over a year, packing it up a couple days a week to go somewhere, then setting it up at home again. It hasn't failed me yet in workmanship.Yes, you can find a cheaper stand, ... MoreI bought the optional travel case to go with it, and it's a good investment. Not sure how I feel about this product.
30 January 2015

The stand arrived and was broken. The joint that raises and holds the stand at different heights was nonfunctioning. The Clutchless Grip did not lock into place. I returned it and got a replacement. The stand is in working order. But I am not sure if that grip device will hold for the lifetime of the stand. It is unclear if there is any warranty on the stand. All other qualities of the stand are similar to other solid Hercules products.

Poorly design height adjustment and music sheet holder needs tool to adjust
4 October 2022

The height is difficult to adjust which you have to do from the knob at the bottom which you cannot tighten once you pull it up. The top music sheet holder does not have an adjustment to tighten or loosen it. You have to use a tool to do so. All Hercules Company has to do is put a knob for both. It may look sturdy but it is not worth for the price.

excellent music stand case

i purchased this case for a slightly larger music stand, it fits perfect, i knew it was a good investment to buy from Hercles as i have purchased a guitar stand in the past, both excellent quality. I would highly recommend a purchase from Hercules, they are top quality.
