Heretics of Dune by Frank Herbert

The epic that began with the HUGO and NEBULA Award-winning classic DUNE β€” now a major motion picture from the director of Blade Runner 2049 and Arrival β€” continues ... From Dune to Rakis to Dune, the wheel turns full circle. From burning desert to green and fertile land and on again to burning desert ... the cycle is complete. The people of the Scattering are returning. Amongst them, mysterious and threatening, are the women who call themselves the Honoured Matres, adepts of an ecstatic cult. And on Rakis, become Dune, an ancient prophecy is fulfilled with the coming of the she-sheer, Sheeana ... About the Author Frank Herbert (1920-86) was born in Tacoma, Washington and worked as a reporter and later editor of a number of West Coast newspapers before becoming a full-time writer. His first sf story was published in 1952 but he achieved fame more than ten years later with the publication in Analog of DUNE WORLD and THE PROPHET OF DUNE, amalgamated in the novel DUNE in 1965. Reviews I know nothing comparable to it except The Lord of the Rings * Arthur C. Clarke on Dune * It is possible that Dune is even more relevant now than when it was first published * The New Yorker on Dune * An astonishing science fiction phenomenon * The Washington Post on Dune * One of the monuments of modern science fiction * The Chicago Tribune on Dune * Powerful, convincing, and most ingenious * Robert A. Heinlein on Dune * A novel of extraordinary complexity ... the work of a speculative intellect with few rivals in modern SF * The Encyclopedia of Science Fiction on Dune * A tight mesmerising fabric, interwoven with a potent element of mysticism ... intensely realised * Brian W. Aldiss on Dune *

As a Frank Herbert fan for many years, I wanted to continue after the Dune trilogy, which I recently re-read after nearly 40 years, so I was pleased to find the titles I wanted on WOB. The book was in good condition and a good price. I am half way through "Heretics of Dune" and am enjoying it as much as the first three books, which are complicated, spellbinding and incredibly hard to put down.
