Avoid, quality control problems

Our cat was on this for over a year and it was fine, but in the last case we ordered, 75% of the cans we opened were almost entirely liquid. The few protein pieces included were dark and stringy looking. We tried still feeding these to our car since we typically add water to this wet food and the liquid is his favorite part. But he barely ate/drank any of it, and it seemed to upset his digestive system. Given what a lack of quality control this demonstrates, I am not even sure if the food is safe for consumption by cats.I wrote to Chewy customer service several weeks ago regarding this significant product manufacturing problem, but they did not even respond. So, I'll add to the reviews here warning others to stay away.

I inherited my mother’s two cats after she passed away. One is 18 and one is 11. The 18 year old started having urinary issues given his age. Our vet prescribed the Multicare Urinary Care moist food to help with his condition. He had become a slow eater until I introduced this food. He LOVES it and looks forward to it every day!!Being able to order it through Chewy, and have it delivered has truly simplified things!!! I also use the dry food version. I leave it out so he can have free choice during the day. The moisture in the canned helps with hydration, but he loves both!

It worked for my cat
13 January 2024

Kitty boy had urinary crystals. After about 3 months eating this 2x a day plus free feeding the equivalent dry food, his urinalysis was normal. To be honest, he doesn't seem to like it quite as much as his previous wet food (probably less palatable because of lower mineral content), but after about a week of getting used to it, he's accepted it -- and he definitely prefers the pate texture over Royal Canin's morsels-in-gravy texture. The relatively large can is slightly inconvenient for me, since I only have one cat and only feed him half a can per day. But I can imagine that it would be very convenient for other households. Overall, this food delivered on its promise, and I think the value is decent.

Never misses a meal
8 January 2024

My cat, George, never lets me miss his once daily wet food portion of his diet! He's like a built-in alarm clock when it's time for this wet food "urinary care with chicken" "treat"! It's part of his daily prescription diet (along with a dry urinary formula) he's been on for the past 7 years and he remains without further issues! Even during Covid when his wet food formula needed to change slightly due to availability issues, he never missed a beat. Shipments are always "on time" and any needed customer service help has always been above and beyond expectations - friendly, courteous and knowledgeable.

Product great. However, deceived with with gift card
6 July 2024

Product is fantastic. 5 stars on product. It’s the only one I trust for kitties prone to crystals and blockages.Chewy not so much for trust on this one. $30 gift card was advertised, but only received $15. Called to see what the deal was with this. I was basically told I should have read the fine print. Apparently the code for $30 didn’t apply to this particular item even though it let me use the $30 code. So here we are later about to place another order and notice we only have $15 instead of $30. I did not realize Chewy was in the business of deceiving its customers in this manner. Not the way to do business. I just want to make people aware of this so they can try to make sure they do not get deceived the way I did.

THIS FOOD SAVED MY KITTY’S LIFE, AND KEPT US FROM SPENDING THOUSANDS AT THE VET!
6 October 2024

Does your kitty have recurring UTIs and bladder crystals? Please buy this!!! This food is a miracle!!!! Of course I would do anything to save my kitty’s life, but we were so close to spending thousands of dollars to do a catheter and bladder flush for Marshmallow’s bladder crystals (the crystals would have been more expensive at the vet to treat, than a surgery for removal of bigger bladder stones). This food was the last resort to battle his recurring UTIs he was getting from the bladder crystals. Three different antibiotic Convenia shots only helped temporarily, but the UTIs would come back. THIS FOOD IS SAVING HIS LIFE!!! Watery and reduced weight

This food works for my cat who gets crystals. However, they are pricing me out of it! Unfortunately, Hills seems to have a monopoly on this type of food and no one else makes it. I wonder how many kitties die a horrible painful death because their owners simply cant afford the exorbitantly expensive Hills prescription diet? They dont even offer the stress formula in a more affordable 5.5 oz size. I weigh TTs food precisely - 1.5oz (mixed with 1 oz of a different food) since I simply cannot do two cans a day of this Hills. This mix has stood him well, but the price of this Hills food has steadily increased, while the weight has decreased. This Hills works but you will never convince me that the ingredients justify the prices! Water is cheap. The ONLY reason I am ticking YES for recommendation is because I have not found an alternative.

Best customer service, bar none. Delivery went well. Seven years ago I rescued siblings Soco and Brandy who were 4 years old. Shortly there after Soco got desperately ill with a bladder blockage and was in the hospital for three days. The vet then recommended Hills Rx food and he's been fine ever since. Knock wood. They both eat the same food since it was impossible to keep them apart feeding time. I do have two water fountains for them and add a vet recommended dose of miralax(generic) to the wet food since they did get constipated. All's well thank God.

My 2 cats eat this wet food, I rotate between this and the Royal Canin one plus the RC dry food. They seem content with the setup. Why not 5 stars? Not really the wet food's fault but I feel like prescription urinary care cat food is generally a scam. We know the ph for cat food should be whatever these prescription foods are using so male cats don't get crystals built up and possibly kill them. Why isn't this a normal cat food practice rather than have your cat almost die first so they can get a script for massively expensive food? Last year I spent $1200 via Chewy and most of it was on those 3 prescription cat foods for 2 cats. That's after the $5k bill to unblock my good boi.So - yes, this food is doing the thing it should do and my cats are stoked to eat it. ... MoreMy 2 cats eat this wet food, I rotate between this and the Royal Canin one plus the RC dry food.
