The waist band is adjustable with velcro and will fit all waist sizes.No lock can withstand determined a thief but this will certainly slow them down. I don't think I'd rely on this as my only lock for an all-day lockup on an expensive bike though. So it's useful when leaving your bike when you pop into a shop, or if your bike is within sight etc.

The Perennial Problem is that bike insurance usually relies upon you padlocking your bike to an immovable object when out and about. I bought this for use with an MTB E bike where the weight around your waist is far less of an issue than with a road bike. I must admit I don't notice it when wearing and might even consider using for road bike. However this is the Lite version. The chain and lock are not gold Standard, but will deter the opportunist thief.

The pros are it’s very sturdy for some thing considered the “lite” model and fits around my waist so nicely, I don’t even notice it. As a bonus, I believe the $65 price tag is reasonable. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars is that because it’s wearable, I wish it were slightly larger and in its lock mode. It’s not much larger than a U-style lock so there may be fastening issues depending on where you lock it. If you are looking for an easy to transport lock for short durations of time (like at a coffee shop, etc.), give this one a try.

I bought this when I was in a pinch and needed a lock.Pros: It is incredibly lightweight and the "belt" aspect is perfect for a commuter lifestyle. Also, the key is slightly curved which I would imagine to add an aspect of pick-resistance.Cons: It is way way way too short. It is only good if you want to secure the frame (if that), not a tire as well. Getting this lock with the tire around any frame requires a lot of yanking and wrestling. Additionally, the key gets stuck in the lock quite a bit. Not a bad idea in theory, but needs some work before it's a quality design. Really needs just a few more links in the chain.
Easy to wear and saves space in my rucksack, but don't get it anywhere near your chain, or it will transfer to your clothing.Couple of niggles:1 - as per other reviews, the lock is a bit fiddly to use. The velcro gets a bit in the way of the end of the chain, but not too bad. The fact the shackle is quite short means it's harder to break with some techniques.2 - the padlock feels cheap. Shackle rattles and is flappy when unlocked - would have given another star for a more solid feel to that.I bought it for nipping around on local errands, where bike isn't left unattended for long, and works well for that, which is what it's intended for. I'd use something beefier for all day at the station or out of sight.
I have had this item about a month and am very pleased with it.It's comfortable and easy to wear, and the lock /chain feel sturdy. I feel confident leaving my bike locked with this.The chain isn't very long though, so check the size before buying. It's about the same length as my old D lock, but being flexible it can be used to fix to wider objects I wouldn't have been able to use the D lock on. I find the key a bit fiddly, over a combination lock, but I guess this is the price you pay for having a more secure lock.I would definitely recommend this lock

While the idea behind this lock is nice, the shank loop is too short. The nylon cover for the end of the chain loop constantly gets stuck and blocks the shank, so you can't physically turn the key lock to close it. The lock also is just poor quality and is frequently fights the key lock even when the shank is clear. Countless times I've found myself standing in the rain trying for 5+ mins to lock this. I hate this lock.Also, I did fall off my bike once and the position of the "buckle" means if you fall on the front of your body, the buckle is pushed into your abdomen and bruises. Seems dangerous to have this in the front of your body instead of your back.

I wanted to be able to take one of my existing bikes for errands in the neighborhood, and longer rides when i stop to eat or go into a store, and the occasional commute into San Francisco (work and leisure).I have a u-lock but don't use it. it always requires a bag (i always lose the frame holders for them), and it is always a pain to lock up the bike given the tight spaces I end up having to use, especially a problem if there are only street lamps or posts that are too large to use a u-lock on, forcing me to park my bike out of sight on a bike rack down the street. That led me to gravitate towards a chain lock. Some (including the 1.50 version of this one) were heavy duty enough to scare off anyone for sure with bolt cutters, but again, anyone with several minutes of free time and an angle grinder can get through even some of the beefiest locks anyway and the beefier ones are too ridiculously heavy to carry.This hiplock was perfect. I can wear it around my hip (no bag needed), and it wraps around a variety of objects to lock my bike up, offering more security than a cable lock, more flexibility and security than a u-lock, and easier to carry than just about anything. Basically, I am now more likely to use my bike more for errands and commuting than driving or using the U-Lock.I did compare this side by side with the 1.50 for quite a while in an REI store, and even though the 1.50 fit comfortably, it was just heavy enough and expensive enough for me to take my chances on the lighter one. I would have been happy with either I think. The extra weight on the 1.50 was noticeable while holding it, but not really noticeable once you were wearing it.Hopefully this lock stands the test of time and thieves.
The Hiplok lite is a fairly high rated security device for cycles, which, whilst cycling, is worn around the waist like a belt, secured by Velcro. simply take it off, put it around the bike and a railing or other immovable object, and lock it on. It also has a reflective strip. My only reservation is that it could benefit from being slightly longer, but the it would not be so wearable.it certainly saves lugging a chain and padlock around, and is rather better than a D lock.comes with three keys.
