As a very long-time Harry Potter fan, I must say this game is incredible. It has gone beyond my expectations, and I can't be happier with it. Well, maybe if Quidditch was included, but even so that's not a big deal with everything else the game has. It includes so much wizarding lore, secrets around the castle, a huge world to explore that looks absolutely gorgeous, and an incredibly intriguing storyline. Not only this, but the NPCs are amazing. I find myself already loving Sebastian and wanting to know more about him as my character gets to know him!I love that I am constantly still finding out new information about the world that I love so much. I have the books and movies basically memorized, but this game is adding so much more to it that I'm still intrigued ... MoreAs a very long-time Harry Potter fan, I must say this game is incredible. As someone who loved reading the books and thoroughly missed the sense of wonder that comes from reading new books, this game has brought that back to me.The graphics are also wonderful. I love flying on my broomstick and just looking around the world around Hogwarts. Speaking of flying, I love that you can travel through the world without any loading screens! You can fast-travel, if that's more your thing, but I love flying over the Hogwarts grounds, over Hogsmede, and through the trees of the Forbidden Forest! The magic system is also so, so good. I expected it to be a little clunky, but the way they designed it was incredibly well done. You can pick and choose which spells you want in your hot bar, and it's easy to swap spells out mid-battle if you need to.I cannot recommend this game enough. If you are a Harry Potter fan, or if you just like fantasy rpgs in general, pick up the game, and pick it up now. You won't regret it.

The size of the world is incredible, and it's every fan's dream to explore Hogwarts and Hogsmeade! Starts out very cool, but the magic is unfortunately quickly overshadowed by RPG elements and an overwhelming amount of map icons and collectables. There's a ton of magic spells to learn, but the PS5 controller honestly doesn't have enough buttons to accommodate! Controls definitely take some getting used to. If you're a disabled gamer like me, it might take a while to figure out the control scheme, or even figuring one out for yourself with the PS5's accessibility settings. You may want to plan on playing this all the way through, lest you forget how to play between sessions! I think this is definitely the game fans have been waiting for, but it unfortunately gets ... This is the game I wish I was able to experience when I was 15, my peak of being a Harry Potter fanatic. As it stands now, I feel like a child again being wowed by the attention to detail and faithfulness to the source material. Hogwarts Legacy is a return to form for the Harry Potter franchise, set a little over 100 years before the events of the books/movies, which helps the game stretch it's creative muscles without being shackled by appearances from characters that would steal the spotlight from those created for the game. Because of this, I was sucked into the narrative. However, you might find the fun narrative being overshadowed by the thing I looked forward to the most when picking this game up; the ability to explore Hogwarts to your heart's content ... Don't listen to the controversy online about the game, buying this game does not make you a bad person.

This exciting, thrilling game definitely makes you feel like you’re in your own Harry Potter film. From the rousing majestic music to roaming the iconic halls of Hogwarts to taking part in exciting wand battles, you genuinely feel a part of this world. That’s the best thing about the game. The story, while solid, could have been a little bit more gripping. Some of the fetch quests can start to feel old but there’s usually an interesting aspect to them that’s either funny, sad, or just plain fun. The first 20 hours or so I spent playing were absolutely thrilling. The luster wears off a little bit but the exciting combat and interaction with the characters keeps you going. The conversations you have with your Hogwarts mates are sweet, funny, even touching at times. ... It helps if you are (like me) but it isn’t a requirement for enjoying it!
I'll admit maybe I haven't given it much of a chance but for some reason the game really just didn't grip me. I am a huge Harry Potter fan, and even that didn't make a difference. The game is undoubtedly gorgeous but I found myself yawning a lot of the time and forcing myself to keep playing. I'm still playing currently because I really do want to enjoy it but it's harder than it should be. It feels super fast paced and all the parts where I want to be immersed in, are the moments so so sped up. The arriving at hogwarts, the sorting hat, seeing my dorm room for the first time, and my actual classes went by in almost 2x speed and it didn't allow me to feel immersed in the world. This may be enjoyable for some people but it really wasn't for me. On another note, this ... This may be enjoyable for some people but it really wasn't for me. On another note, this may be a preference to some, but so much of the gameplay became endless voice lines where you end up reading ahead and skipping before the actual voices finish. If you have played genshin impact you'll know how this feels. As a majoritively story based singleplayer game I was hoping for more cinematics and they lost me there. The gameplay on the other hand is kind of fun, it's very 'souls' influenced, if you know what I mean by that, which is alright. It almost feels to easy, standing far away with a wand spamming your automatically aimed spells. I understand that I've kind of just ripped the game to shreds but if you are a Harry Potter fan I recommend you give it a go, it may just be my own preferences interfering and keep in mind this is just my own opinion of the game.
I'm someone who knew nothing about the Harry Potter universe, but I am very happy with this game. Also, as someone who loves playing video games, this is an excellent way for me to have my first experience with the Harry Potter franchise. The combat is fast paced and engaging, the story is interesting (the opening was very strong, and gripped me within the first 5 minutes,) and the visuals are quite impressive. Exploring Hogwarts castle is an experience all its own. So much detail! So many bits of lore sprinkled throughout. I imagine it is jam-packed full of easter eggs and surprises for Harry Potter fans. I'm honestly very happy with this purchase, despite knowing next to nothing about the franchise. I've had a lot of fun so far, and don't expect that will change. ... Oh, regarding game length, I've already played just short of 30 hours, and it seems as though I'm only about halfway through the main story. Granted, I've done a lot of exploring and side quests, which account for a large portion of those 30 hours, but my point is there is plenty of content in this game to make it worth the purchase. I definitely recommend it, even to people who aren't familiar with Harry Potter. It's a strong game on its own merit!
What a great game. The environment is gorgeous (it's actually fun to walk around and just look). The puzzles are just difficult enough that I'm happy when I solve them. The button mashing dueling isn't too frequent and just hard enough that I enjoy it. The character building is amazing (just be careful, once you make your person, that's who you will be the whole game - so be sure you enjoy looking at what you made, and the sound of the voice - you'll hear that voice a lot). It does a great job with gender fluidity - in fact it's very much gender neutral. For an initial release, this thing has only had one update, and has run bug free. That's super impressive. The only thing I wish for, there was a setting to turn off the character saying Revelio - you use that all the time repeatedly. And when you are stuck - Google is your best friend for tips on how to solve duels or puzzles. Sometimes it is as simple as, that character is only killed with this spell, and I've been mashing the wrong button the whole time.Oh the music is so relaxing and beautiful. Can anybody ever say that about a video game? For context - I hardly ever play video games. This fights for time with Gran Turismo. And please never ever tell me how much time I've spent playing Hogwarts - it kept me up all night until 7AM this morning. And I still want to play the game.
I didnt have high hopes when i bought this for the harry potter superfan in our home. Id heard the campaign was short, the combat repetetive and the open world a bit empty. 46 hours in and still going strong, non of those reviews have held up. Theres tons of things to do in the world, (and a quidditch pitch, just no quidditch yet). Combat is a little simple, but different spells keep it fresh enough as you progress, and if you like customizing theres tons of base building choices in the room of requirement. The game also has a cool outfit feature for its tons of items and drops: once you unlock an item, you can wear its cosmetic at any time, even if you are actually wearing a more powerful item, but like the look of your character in a different robe or mask. ... I ordered the Deluxe Edition on the PlayStation store a few days ago and have played for about 6 or 7 hours. It's the Harry Potter game I've wanted since I was a child. The game's atmosphere is excellent and perfectly captures the feel of wandering Hogwarts. You can tell that for the developers, this was a labor of love, and they had the time to fully realize their vision for the game.Combat has a low skill floor and a high skill ceiling, so it can be button mash-y if you're looking for that experience, but creative use of magic is well rewarded. I've enjoyed all the combat I've experienced so far, but I haven't done much. Exploration has been too fun.Overall, it's been a very enjoyable experience so far. Overall a great game, found the story quite quick to progress through, but the enormous amount of side quests along with the enormous map makes the game enjoyable and worth its money. The graphics looked nothing short of extraordinary, although the slight loading times between the doors is somewhat annoying. Some parts of the game felt a bit unpolished, for example it only took me one hour before my save corrupted mid-game and I had to load a past one, but as the game auto saves every 3 minutes this wasn’t an issue. Also on a DualSense controller the broom flying controls did seem to be a bit too delicate for my liking and I often crashed into objects around the map while on a broom. Speaking of the DualSense controller, the haptic feedback in the game was amazing ...
