Cushioned but Plodding

I've had these for quite some time now. The upper is very comfortable and the sole highly cushioned. However I find that running in them is like running in quicksand. I tend to end up with sore legs after runs as they require so much effort to get moving. As stated earlier, they are highly cushioned but it's a squishy cushioning with little to zero responsiveness. I bought these initially because I have a compressed nerve in my back and I wanted something to absorb impact. In that way they were probably good for me and it's why I haven't scored them lower than 3, but I've moved onto other far superior shoes now that also absorb impact, but also allow me to move, which is fairly important for running. They would probably be suitable walking shoes for some, but I'm ... MoreI've had these for quite some time now. Don't bother with Clifton 8, just buy the 9

I bought these because I really like the color. I had a Clifton 9 shoe and have worn Clifton hokas for about 5 years and love them. But every once in awhile I'll get a version that doesn't seem to support my feet as much. I work at hospital and I'm on my feet and walk many many miles per day. I wore these to work then 2 days I had developed plantar fasciitis on my left side which I had never had before. Also the bones in my feet were just aching. I'm an old lady so I really take care of my feet. They are really cute and I like the color but I don't recommend.

I've had to start working standing up and walking -sitting and standing are uncomfortable due to back issues. I have a "walking pad" under my stand up desk and I just walk and work. It's a new thing for me and I needed good shoes to support all the walking time. Got these after hearing all the Hoka hype and seeing this version was on sale. At first I was amazed. They feel like no other shoe. I like the way they surround my foot, cushioning but not too soft, nice and supportive but not stiff. But now that I've worn them quite a bit, they have made my arches sore. My arches are not happy and I've started instinctively rolling my feet a little with each step to help lessen the ache. That's not good. One of my knees is starting to complain about it. I have high arches and neither wide nor narror feet. I wear between a 7.5 and an 8. Not knowing what to get but wanting to catch the sale price before they sold out, I got an 8, 7.5, and 7.5 wide. The 8 and 7.5 seem the best. The 7.5 fits my feet better but the 8 seems more comfotable initially. The 8 seems to bother my arch more but the 7.5 isn't perfect for my arch either. Sadly, these are not going to work for me long term. I'm going to have to go to a local store where I can try on and test shoes. No RoadRunner nearby :(

Feels like this shoe is a "seconds."
25 November 2023

This shoe is very uncomfortable. I don't understand how Hoka gets these great reviews. The left shoe, in particular, feels like it was made incorrectly/is a reject shoe. Specifically - the curvature of the shoe makes my toes force the side walls to their maximum stretching point. I am a regular width shoe person, definitely not a wide. Previously, I have purchased Brooks and Saucony and have never had any problems. The only reason I switched to Hoka was due to all the reviews for cushioning and heel pain. Definitely not worth the price tag and definitely does not live up to the hype.

Hoka Clifton 8 shoes are Amazing!
1 December 2023

I recently purchased two pairs of shoes from Nordstrom Rack. One was Hokas Atria 6 and On Cloud Swift. They both felt great while wearing them in the store. Not the same the next day. I returned them and purchased the Hoka Clifton 8. Love it!! I’ve been wearing them every day and my feet feel so comfortable with the support in my arch in heel. I would definitely purchase more of the same. Btw, I found out yesterday, that one of my Facebook groups member posted that Sam’s club has Hokas on sale. I just purchased tha Bondi Sr. For $124. This is an amazing deal.

LOVE THIS SHOE!!
1 May 2024

I wear a 10.5 and these fit perfectly! And they're so soft, I feel like I'm walking on a cloud. I can't believe I've lived my entire life and I'm just now discovering this amazing shoe. I need a large toe box and long enough that my big toe doesn't hit the front of the shoe and this shoe is perfect in every way. And it's sliming on my feet, they don't make me look like I'm wearing clown shoes (because my feet are so big for a woman). And I love the color!! I was disappointed that the glue was defective where it attaches the mesh to the rubber sole, but Hoka doesn't charge you return shipping which I think is amazing in itself, and returns/exchanges are super easy I just exchanged them and I'm waiting for the new pair. I love these so much I ordered three pair! :-)

Most comforatable running/walking shoe
2 March 2024

My neighbor told me that Hoka's are the most comfortable shoe he's ever worn. He got his at a different store. I was looking for a less expensive version for women so I went to Nordstrom's Rack. I bought the Hoka shoes that were there. I love them! I tried on other brands to compare and my neighbor is right. They are the most comfortable. They are not the one's pictured above. Mine are much prettier color.

Perfect fit for my wide foot
22 April 2023

Thankyou that they are wider than the original ones I first tried on in the store and was so disappointed they fit tight as I loved the colour and that they were on sale. After taking them back saying to the salesclerk it’s my feet being too wide, she didn’t really say anything other than it’s ok to return them and I kept saying I’d really like a pair- maybe it’s the shoe defect on the one shoe feeling a bulge so maybe try on another pair of the same.It was only when I said well I guess my feet are too wide for them and then she finally said there’s a wider one but that you’d have to order it yourself online but if it doesn’t fit and you’d only get a credit if bring it back ( didn’t say if I returned it myself I’d get a cash refund how I paid) . Well, Thankyou for finally telling me that there is a wider pair. I discovered the online return policy myself that I could return them myself for full refund. So I decided to order. I’ve never ordered online before so it was important to be allowed a refund but they came and they fit perfectly! I am so pleased. I love them.

great fit, awesome color

I discovered HOKA about 3 years, bought a model similar to this one in a store, was delighted because for once my toes were not pinched in a pair of shoes. I wore them every day for three years, all day except in bed... for walking and all working out which includes a lot of jumping. That is how long they lasted and felt good. Only decided to buy new one because my toes were peeking out the top (hole in fabric), not because they had become any less comfortable. They didn't have this newest most similar model that I was willing to buy online because I trusted the fit that much in all black, so I had to choose a color which of course goes with absolutely nothing else that I wear. Love these shoes! Absolutely love them! need I say more? Seriously, this is my 2nd HOKA. My first are the Bondi 7's and they are great and helped a lot with my planters fasciitis. However, I found out I needed a less plush shoe and decided on the Clifton. From the moment I put them on, I was in love with them. ever so comfy and I haven't needed an insert (I did get one for the Bondi's that helped compensate for the plushness). My dogs and I walk daily and I have also worn them for hours and hours with no foot pain or fatigue. I did try 2 pairs - a 9w and 9.5w to see which had more width. the larger one was too big and I didn't feel much difference in the width so back they went (You have to love the 30 day return policy). I do wish they were a tad wider for us wide feet gals but they don't pinch or anything. I was used to the wider width on the Bondi. I did change the laces to something more colorful. The lab techs loved them and wanted to know more about HOKA since they are on their feet all day. Another lady I met on our walks liked them as well and I gave her the info. Like I said, I absolutely love these shoes and tell everyone!
