A good shoe

Disappointing Waterproofing

I bought these mostly for cool, dewy mornings at the Cross Country course late in the season. For that purpose, they worked pretty well in terms of blocking a bit of moisture from the grass and keeping my feet warm. However, after two runs *while* it was raining, I'm deeply disappointed in the waterproofing. These shoes turned into waterlogged boats when running in the rain, and didn't drain. I wouldn't purchase these if you're looking for a shoe to run in rainy weather. If you're just looking to keep your feet dry on wet grass, or looking for a shoe that keeps your feet pretty warm, then these will work great for you. I'm planning on using them more as a winter shoe for cold weather moving forward than a shoe that I'll reach for when it's actually raining outside. ... MoreI bought these mostly for cool, dewy mornings at the Cross Country course late in the season. I have narrow feet and the regular size is more than adequate so I know for sure I don't need a wide side in this brand. Finally, I love the way the shoes feel and perform. I'm 6'5" and 235 and they work well on my race walks and take the pounding exceptionally well. I like the way they cushion my feet. I am also highly impressed with the traction they provided on snowy, snow-packed, and icy roads. Great Customer Service!
5 November 2023

I'm a fan of Hoka and have worn out several pairs of Bondi, the most comfortable shoe I've ever owned. I saw the Clifton 9 GTX and liked the Gortex feature. I'm out with my two dogs at least twice a day rain or shine. Assumed I should just order the same size as my Hoka Bondi. Wrong! I just put these babies on my feet and took off. Ouch! These have a much narrower toe box, and my toes push against the front of the shoe. So squeeze and bump. I was happy when customer service didn't blink after I explained that I had worn these outside Exchange or refund would not be a problem. ( I only had these a few days so well within the 30 day policy). I'm going to up size by 1/2 and hope that works. If not I'll be back to Bondi and wearing my Solomon Gortex hiking shoes in wet ... MoreI'm a fan of Hoka and have worn out several pairs of Bondi, the most comfortable shoe I've ever owned. Hoka Lost A Long-Term Customer
13 October 2024

My Wife bought me these for Christmas. Being a Hoka Fanatic I loved them and especially the Gore-Tex aspect. I wore these to play with the dogs each morning and for my walking routine when I try to walk a couple miles a few times a week. Only a month in I noticed one of the traction pads was loose and by mid-summer the entire sole was deteriorating rapidly. I parked the shoes until I had some time and finally sent the eight month old shoes back to Hoka, assuming it was a no brainer they'd issue me a credit or send me a new pair. Since this was a Christmas present I didn't have the receipt and my wife couldn't find it amongst the thousands of dollars worth of purchases she made for Christmas. What a joke Hoka, I have a closet full of Hoka Shoes and the one time I return something due to an obvious defect in the soles. Please look at the pictures after probably six months of use. Hoka, you've lost a customer for life due to your poor customer service. I won't take the risk in buying another Hoka Product.

I'm buying a second pair
18 May 2024

I received my first pair 2 months ago and they've rarely left my feet. My back, which was really messed up by cheap running shoes, feels significantly better. I'm getting a second pair so I can have one for walking the dogs in the fields and on sidewalks and another for the office and other places. The current pair still look great and they're easy to clean (a brush is sufficient for most of what I get on them). As for the GoreTex, it doesn't let moisture through. I have another pair of regular running shoes and, when I walk through grass with dew on it, my socks are wet. Inconvenient when I have to change shoes (workout shoes or more formal shoes). These keep my feet dry. I think it also repels muddy water, too.Really incredible shoes, in an age when there's so ... MoreI received my first pair 2 months ago and they've rarely left my feet. No shank support/not for everyone
10 May 2024

These shoes look amazing and they seemed to feel amazing at first but after an hour I realized they don’t have enough support and they make my heels and arches feel bruised. It’s as if my heels squish down too far into the foam and that in turn makes the foam dig into my arches. I guess I am just too heavy for these shoes at 265lbs. If you’re a bigger person I would highly suggest going with a more supportive model with a shank in the sole. As far as fit goes they fit true to size although they are very pointed at the toe so they do push your big toe in quite a bit so you may want to size up a half size if that will bother you. Also being waterproof they are not too hot to wear even in warm weather which was very unexpected and nice. Overall very nice shoes but definitely not something I will wear on long days due to the fatigue they cause my heels and arches. Unfortunately, I couldn’t tell this without wearing them but I ended up some north face fast pack shoes with the vectiv support and they are much more comfortable and also waterproof.

Not comfortable at all
12 April 2024

I am extremely disappointed after wearing them for nearly 2 months, specially at this price range and advertised features. I wore them to work sitting down at a desk, to a hike, on long flights and trains, walking around all day, and running. Bottom line is I would not recommend these for extended walking, running, or standing. Here are details why, noting they are my usual and recommended shoe size:1. The bottom of my heels hurt so much after a couple hours of wearing them, whether I am standing or walking.2. My feet move up and down inside the shoes while walking because the rear end does not hold onto the ankle. I used the additional laces holes and had them so tight that my ankles hurt but still my feet were lifting up. I noticed my toes are curving down like a claw while walking to stabilize and hold the shoes, which is resulting in my toes hurting.3. Starting to give me blisters.4. The outer side rubber soles color is already startig to fade.I have never had any of these problems with any of my entry-level sneakers and not even my snow boots. At first, I thought maybe this was because they are new but the discomfort persisted. My 60-day return period is still valid however I can't return them in good conscience after wearing them.

Waterproof HOKA Clifton 9 GTX
7 November 2023

I purchased my HOKA Clifton 9 GTX(waterproof) shoes at Fleet Feet so I could check the fit before ordering . I needed a comfortable waterproof shoe for officiating football and these have been great so far. They aren't cleated football shoes but that wasn't what I was looking for. I just needed waterproof shoes for the cool evenings when the grass gets dewey. These have worked well for that. Plus, I've been wearing them out and about when it's a rainy day.The GTX fit is slightly tighter due to the GoreTex material but I just loosened the strings a little and they have been fine.I recommend these for wet conditions. They've done well for me on wet grass.

It's only because it is a bucket list to play here. It's expensive but the most beautiful course, hands down! So many, will put up the money to fly here, stay here - but many play tourist golf. Doesn't matter to him as he plays as ambassador to our beautiful area while suggesting photo ops etc. There is so much to distract them why seeing whales at times, he has to speed them up by saying " remember guys, we're playing golf and let's move along" as other places to get vantage points of the beauty. All in all, he started the trend of all caddies wearing Hokas and is happy about that fact.
