I wear Asics Gel Kayano because of my overpronation. I have been reading about the Hoka Gaviota 4 for a while now and that it is perfect for overpronation. Unfortunately, I was disappointed and I will not buy it again. Why? Because it is a very loose shoe, doesnt provide tight fit and its sole and bottom part are not as thick and supportive as it seems. I feel the pavement. But they are wearable. But not as perfect as I thought they would be. I will keep buying Asics Gel Kayano. But, the service from your site was EXCELLENT. You get FIVE STARS!! Fast, reliable and perfect. Will buy again when I find something else. Thank you!

Whether I am running, walking at a slow or fast pace, there is no sneaker better for my feet.To add to this, I can only talk about MY feet, because all feet are somewhat different. I also have a case of plantar fasciitis. Again, with commercial orthotics, the pain I felt with other sneakers is no longer present. Hopefully, for those who buy these sneakers will have the same positive experience I have had!

Cannot truly rate these shoes fairly. Reason I say that is because I only had them for over a week. Owned the Gaviota 3 and was a huge fan of the 3. I have flat feet and need support and stability.I ordered the Gaviota 4 as soon as I was able to do so.Upon trying the gaviota 4, I noticed some discomfort in my heel and the side of my foot. I figured I had to "break them in" and the discomfort would disappear with time.A week later, the pain gets worse as the day wears on. So I got curious and began using the old Gaviota 3s, I noticed the pain goes away as soon as I switched back to the old 3s. In the week I owned the Gaviota 4s, I have injured my calf. Having used the Gaviota 3s since last year and nothing else changed, I attribute my injury to the Gaviota 4s.It occurred to me that the shoe might be narrow in the heel box. So, I stacked the 3s and 4s on top of each other. I noticed I slight narrowing from the middle of the shoe running down to the heel box for the Gaviota 4s as compared to the 3s. So it makes sense that it was digging into the side of my feet and hurting my heel after long walks.Sadly, because slight narrowness of the 4s as compared to the 3s is really causing me pain, I will be forced to return this version of the Gaviota 4s. Hopefully the store will have some Gaviota 3s left over, so I can try and ride the 3s out until the Gaviota 5 launches.
These are hands-down, the best shoes for walking or running I’ve ever purchased. The cushion is great and platform of the shoe is wide enough where it feels great whenever walking or running. The only downfall of the shoe is the heel pulled tab. When I used it to put my shoe on, it ripped almost immediately, so I had to cut the other one off to make it looks the same. For the cost that I paid, I didn’t expect these pull tabs to rip so easily, but whatever…at least the shoes are still functional.
I work in the warehousing industry. More specifically, I load tractor trailers 10 hours a day. I was using Airmax before and was having aching feet after every shift. I did some research and read some reviews in search of a shoe that would help alleviate this problem. The Gaviota 4 was what I decided on (though reluctant due to the price). The investment turned out to be successful. Paired with orthotic inserts, these shoes feel like clouds at work. I am no expert in shoe technology, but I know that my feet feel just fine when I get home every day. I even decided to get my wife who is a nurse a pair too. Hoka will be our new work shoes indefinitely.
I like the firmness, but kinda tight in the forefoot. I've had the Clifton products in the past, I really like the stretch fabric through the forefront of that shoe. These ones are sewn, and the fabric is much firmer. I believe that's due to these being a higher end running shoe versus a more casual shoe that the Clifton is.For these I had to put the superfeet inserts in them, to get some arch support out of them. The Clintons did not require this, as they were a lot squishier.I like the look, as there very similar to the Clifton's.
I am 71 years old. I've have tried just about every running shoe out there, My feet are a tough fit. I no longer run but do hike and walk. My "go to" shoes are Brooks. For trails i am a Merrell guy. They both have a wide toe box, great support and great traction. I read about HOKA and people rave about them.So with my funky feet I decided to give them a shot. OMG! they are the best fitting, most comfortable shoe I have ever worn. They are light, wide toe box and great stability. I love them. They are a little pricy, but when it comes to foot comfort i don't cheap it. Try a pair you'll love em.
My goal in this review is to provide details that will better assist fellow runners in deciding whether or not this shoe is right for them. I'm 62, 5'9", and weigh 180 lbs. My "cruising" pace is around 10:30 per mile, and if I step it up, it's around 8:30-9:00 per mile. I'm a heel striker. The shoes in my current rotation are Gaviota 2 (G2), Arahi 5 (A5), and Hurricane 23 (H23). I also previously used the Bondi 7; even though it's a neutral shoe, the wide platform worked well until the foam broke down around 400 miles. Now let me talk about the Gaviota 4.I now have 55 miles on them. They took about 15 total miles to break in and soften up. This falls in line with some other reviews I read. This falls in line with some other reviews I read. They are not soft right out of the box, but they will soften up once broken in.Now that they are broken in, they are definitely the softest of the shoes in my rotation. The sole shows no wear after 55 miles. This could be because I run smooth and don't scuff my feet. Both my wife and I run predominately in Hokas, and neither of us has an issue with the sole wearing out fast. The upper is very comfortable and breathable.I wear a 10.5 in all the shoes listed above. This runs true to size, and I don't feel that it's narrow. While the G2 had a unique lacing system, the G4 is traditional and works much better. I've had no issues with the laces coming untied while running. The G4 is more responsive than the G2 but not as responsive as the H23.This shoe has quickly become my go-to cruiser shoe. It's perfect for eating up the miles. The only negative is Hoka needs to offer more color choices. I purchased the blue, which is really nice. However, others may want more choices.
I'm dealing with planter faciitus right now. My podiatrist said one of the best light weight shoes he recommends is HOKA brand shoes. I decided to order a pair that very same day. They are fantastic. I even put them on at night like slippers if I will be standing or walking around on our hard wood floors. They are super light, breath very well and keep my feet comfortable. Time will tell if they hold up over time, but so far I am very pleased and highly recommend them!
