I love this “sneaker” though I think of it more as a hiking boot. My right ankle is a bit weak and I need extra support—which this boot gives even though it is the “low” model and very comfortable. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars because I previously had an identical pair on which one of the four ribbon loops for the laces pulled out of the stitching after about two months of wearing them constantly. I’m pretty sure Nordstrom would have replaced them if I had asked but I was traveling in South America for a few months and was not able to get to the store. I just bypassed that loop though and the boots still worked fine. When I got back it wasn’t a priority. Now I’m on my second pair and that problem has not recurred. Very pleased!

I have a pair of the Kaha GTX boots (purchased last fall from Huckberry), which I like so I decided to give the low Kaha a try. Both the boot and low version of the Kaha have the exact same feel and fit, which you would expect and which I wanted. I travel a lot so the fact both boots are waterproof and have great traction are a big plus. I've been wearing the low Kaha around my house, primarily to break them in before I use them while traveling. I love the way both Hoka products are designed to move with your feet, however it is a different feel than most sneakers. While Hoka is known for comfortable sneakers, I expected a more plush feel from the Kaha, more similar to Allbirds. My expectations were high and the shoe is not quite as comfortable as I expected, therefore the 4 stars rather than 5. I replaced the insoles which made a difference. The Kaha is well made and looks like it will be very durable. A friend who owns a running store told me that they are an excellent product. I love the design and look. While some people think Hoka's in general are a very odd looking shoe / boot, I've received so many complements on the Kaha look. So for my purposes, whether traveling in Egypt or Iceland, I think these shoes will be exactly what I hoped they would be.

I own more Hokas than I will admit to in public. Mostly Cliftons; all very light and so comfy that you feel embraced, caressed. Lightness and breathability translates to soaking through at the first hint of rain. I needed something for Vermont weather. I started with an ankle height GoreTex pair, some GTX model they no longer seem to have, and now the lower Kaha GTX. In a way both are anti-Hoka. They are heavier, stiffer and don't hug your feet the same way. At first I was disappointed because Hoka is all about that caress! But after a short while I came to love them both. Still very comfortable and I feel fine even after a long day in them. Different than all the other Hokas, but Hoak at heart even without the caress.

A complete disappointment, I purchased these because they're supposed to be comfortable and easy on your feet if you're on your feet all day, they even say they are "plush". Unfortunately, that not what I experienced. After giving them a few days of break in, I decided to give them a chance and put them to the test on a trip where I'd be walking and standing all day. They were a complete disappointment, not at all "plush", quite the opposite, they killed my feet, giving me 3 blisters in the process. It's not that they're the wrong size, they're the correct size, they're just not as described, they're not "plush" in my opinion. Furthermore, I really don't like how tall the soles are, they somehow throw me off, especially when driving my manual transmission car. The one positive thing I can say is that the waterproofing does appear to work as I got to put that to the test during a very rainy day on my trip. Other than that, I don't really have anything positive to say about these shoes. Fortunately Hoka has a 30 day money back guarantee, which I'm using.
I decided to purchase these shoes for hiking after wearing another brand for the last 5 years. I wear a 12 but all the reviews said they run large so I ordered a 11.5. I wore them walking a few times to break them in and they felt fine. I recently returned home from backpacking 5 days in Wyoming and 3 days of summiting 14er's in Colorado. The shoes were great as I put them through all types of terrain and weather. The hubble heel with the swallowtail provided great stability on the ankles for a lowcut shoe. The cushioning helped absorb all the impact walking, climbing, and especially descending on rocks. My knees thank you. The gtx waterproofing worked as it should in the light rain we encountered and in the 2-3 inches of unexpected snow that dumped on us. The cushioning helped absorb all the impact walking, climbing, and especially descending on rocks. My knees thank you. The gtx waterproofing worked as it should in the light rain we encountered and in the 2-3 inches of unexpected snow that dumped on us. My socks were completely dry (with rain pants) after 12 miles in fresh and melted snow. I was the only one with dry feet! The flaw. I usually get a blister on a heel or sometimes both while backpacking for days but this time I got it in a new spot. I was relieved that I didn't get it in the same spot on the heel/achilles area because it becomes somewhat painful to hike with over time. After 10 miles on day 1 a blister started up on the inside of both feet between my heels and arches. Ive never had a blister in this spot before. I inspected the inside of the shoes and found that there is a hard piece of material under the mesh lining that wraps around the back of the shoe where the bird and Hoka logo are printed. Inside the shoe, the lip of the hard material protrudes and rubs right where my blisters formed even through my stance socks. I threw some KT tape over them to help diminish the rubbing for the remainder of the trip. I now have one very large fluid filled blister, because the other popped, that I am currently attending too.Besides this flaw, which can be fixable, the shoe held up great as i put just over 70 miles on them. If I didnt get blisters in this odd spot, I would give a 5 star
At first, I wasn't sure when trying them on but felt like they would be good shoes so I bought them in black. I wore them once to work and felt pretty good and thought these were comfortable and would be great for short distances, more of a rugged footwear. I started to really like them. I wore them again and like them even more. I just wore them the other day for a 4 mile hike on paved walk, in the woods that had some ice, snow, and semi-frozen terrain. Definitely not smoot asphalt. They held up great, super comfortable for a trail hiking shoe, great combination of leather and gore tex.I read a couple reviews that stated they would not stay on or came off the heel and perhaps that's true for the particular person, but from my experience that should not happen and ... MoreAt first, I wasn't sure when trying them on but felt like they would be good shoes so I bought them in black. Use the extra eyelet and snug those puppies up and you have a secure, comfortable fit. They are quickly becoming one of my favorite pair of Hoka's. I own the Mach 5 (2 pr), Challenger ATR6, Bondi 8, Speedgoat 5 (2 pr), Clifton 8 and these Kaha's. LOVE THEM! I am looking adding more to my collection. If you looking at these, try them on using the type of socks you plan to wear, lace them up and cinch them snug. I also treat every pair with waterproof spray that is friendly for all materials.Whatever shoe you chose, treat your feet right as they are important and you will be happy you did.Happy Trails!
The shoes appear to be fine , I have purchased at least 10 pairs of various Hoka's and generally love the products. I recently purchased the Kaha low GTX online and utilized the size guide for my recommended fit. Unfortunately they do not fit according to the size guides. My disappointment is with contacting Hoka to get the appropriate size. You literally cannot talk to a live person and furthermore the 24/7 chat option is not working either. I went through the steps twice to leave my contact information to correspond through the chat feature but have not be contacted as of yet. Hopefully someone will reach out to me after this review. Very very frustrating to be ignored. I will be trying another brand in hopes the sizing guides accurately represent the product. At first I was looking for an all around shoe for my day to day. I'm walking on gravel a lot, play golf, mow several yards, have a son who loves to run and explore on trails/water, etc. Also, lately I have been having pain in my foot from what I suspect to be Morton's neuroma that is painful when I walk. It had gotten really bad and when these Kaha's showed up it was immediate relief. After about a week or two of wearing my foot started to feel much better. I would actually just end up wearing them throughout the day and inside my house just because they made my foot feel so much better. At first I was hesitant to love them because of the look from the top down just looked chunky and odd with the heel being so wide. I was going to return and decided last minute to keep them and I am glad that I did. The shoe's continue to grow on me and we are actually up in North Carolina mountains and I can say that they are really great for hiking, grip, and all around comfort. I feel like these shoes are designed for this environment. Absolutely fantastic on steep grades and the waterproofing is a huge plus as well. All around I am very excited about the shoes and I even wear them to play golf. The style and look isn't going to be for everyone but it's grown on me and I look forward to putting them on.Also, people have complained about the shoe strings coming undone. What I always do is a double loop (not a double knot) and I have never had issues with the strings coming undone.
Please note the rating is for seniors.I bought a pair in April this year. These are very well-made sneakers with a solid construction. Very high quality and fits my feet well. However, they are heavy and very stiff. Also, the sole is oversized, sticking out particularly around the back. These characteristics make it not suitable for seniors like myself.I found them to have a tendency to catch uneven surfaces and steps so I am afraid of falling. Also, the heaviness and stiffness make it more tiring for long walks. For these reasons, I would not recommend them for seniors. Now, I am stuck with these wonderful sneakers I am always nervous wearing them. Well, I guess I will just have to keep paying special attention during my walk and not use them for long walks.
I've been wearing HOKAs for 3 years now and have settled on Bondi 8. Basically that's all I wear all the time due to a heel spur and HOKA Bondi 8 saved my life. But in very wet conditions for golf they are terrible. No grip and soaked. I was excited for the KAHA 2 low GTX since they said Plush and waterproof. They are very waterproof - played two rounds in very wet weather and my feet were DRY. They have great grip in muddy, sloppy, wet turf. But they are NOT plush (at least like the Bondi 7 or Bondi 8). To me they dont feel that different from regular waterproof golf shoes honestly. And they are a little stiff - at least at first. Lastly, they are bigger than the Bondi 8 fit-wise. Perhaps to accomodate for thicker socks usually worn for hiking or trail running. ... MoreI've been wearing HOKAs for 3 years now and have settled on Bondi 8.
