Awesome lightweight running shoe

This is an awesome running shoe. Feels super lightweight, have ran a 10k race ans several 3/5k distances and they were perfect for these distances. At the start of the run they provide a great spring to make you feel sprightly on your legs - even when I was feeling slightly fatigued. The only limitations I have found with them thus far, is that I have slightly wider feet than the average 5ft 3 woman - and therefore these shoes can feel a little narrow. Nonetheless I was able to adjust the tightness of the laces significantly and this also means i dont have to be to concerned with how I tie my laces. Also from an aesthetics standpoint - if you get mud on the lighter coloured areas, it has proven really difficult to get out and therefore in a short amount of time ... MoreThis is an awesome running shoe. Love the design, the feel and the look.

I purchased this shoe along with the Clifton8 to see which one would work best for me. This was the show I ultimately landed on. When I first tried them, I loved the bounce in the heal but wasn't convinced they fit right. They seemed a bit large in the toe area and I wasn't sure it would work well for running on my left forefoot. I tried the Clifton's for a while and they ended up not working at all, so I took these for a few miles around the neighborhood and I was pleasantly surprised with how well I enjoyed them. I returned the Cliftons and am now sold on these. They are pricier, but my feet are totally happy with them. So glad I got a pair that worked for my feet!

Great service. Trainers not true to size for me.

I purchased the Mach 5 by Hoka when there was 20% discount which made them cheaper than the previous Mach 4 version! Sadly despite feeling nice and bouncy and being aesthetically pleasing, these were too large so I returned them. I wanted to order the smaller size but the discount was no longer available on the website. I emailed The Sports Edit and asked if they would honour the 20% discount so I could purchase the smaller size. They were very kind and gave me a new discount code for my next order. The process of purchasing and returns was very smooth and customer service very good. Sadly the smaller pair of trainers weren’t the right fit either and needed returning, but I would recommend using this website.

Happy Feet!
18 July 2023

I love running but after years of foot pain and inserts to help reduce plantars fasciitis, to the point where I would limp some days, I wondered if I would ever find the right shoe. Enter Hoka Mach 5, I was previously wearing Clifton's which were ok but still was having issues.Honestly, I originally bought a pair because I liked the white with gold lettering and wasn't expecting much. Currently, I own 5 pairs that I rotate. No inserts needed, no foot pain, like literally no plantars fasciitis since I started wearing these exclusively. I run 3-4 days a week, run races in them, even walked all day in Disney World in them. These have been a game changer for me, continue bringing those new fresh color ways! I am a true size 8 in my running shoes and that's what I take ... MoreI love running but after years of foot pain and inserts to help reduce plantars fasciitis, to the point where I would limp some days, I wondered if I would ever find the right shoe. Hoka never disappoints!
9 May 2023

These are my 4th pair of Hoka shoes. I've been Hoka-loyal since I got my first pair in 2019. I've had 5 knee surgeries after tearing both of my ACLs and meniscus multiple times on both legs. Running used to hurt every step of the way. I haven't had knee pain while running ever since I started wearing Hokas.I got the Mach 5s to replace my favorite pair of the discontinued Elevon 2 style. I like that these have a sole that is less thick than most other Hoka shoes. These are still just as comfortable and "cushy" as other Hoka shoe styles. I consider these to be "a little more speedy, and a little less bulky". I use the Mach 5 for road runs and mostly-flat trail runs. I definitely recommend them for those looking for a little less shoe sole, but still want the cushion ... MoreThese are my 4th pair of Hoka shoes. You won't be disappointed.

Light weight but lack arch support
22 March 2023

I was told these are one of their most popular modals and I fell in love with them the moment I bought them. I was looking for a new shoe to both train with & run my first half marathon in. They are incredibly light weight and comfortable with great connection to the ground, and very stylish with many color options. Unfortunately, they offer little to no arch support. Despite having low arches, and typically no issues here, after about 2 weeks of training my feet were in serious pain. I love Hoka trainers, I usually wear the Kawanas, but I guess these just weren't the right ones for me. If you have or use custom insoles though, these would be great!

Love these!!
23 September 2022

Love these more than the Mach 4. These have more protection yet feel extremely lightweight and help me with my speed runs and long runs. I use these shoes interchangeably for this purpose. I understand some people enjoyed the Mach 4's but i think they had very poor durability. Once the 4's wore out, my legs and knees felt it immediately. I had aches doing my long runs in the 4s and I think they were more of a speed shoe, even though they did not feel like they gave off enough protection or bounce. The Mach 5's have a superior feel and have not deteriorated since I began running in them. I average 34-40 miles a week. I feel faster in these and more light. They give off a great BOUNCE in each step. Running shoes are subjective to one's experience, for me , the 5s are ... MoreLove these more than the Mach 4. (please do not make any drastic changes in the future Hoka) :)

Obsessed
15 August 2023

I am a big fan of rotating shoes, but I love the Machs so much, it's becoming difficult! I just bought a new pair, but have just been "rotating" with my old Mach 5s (which have 400+ miles on them!) or even my old Mach 4s. I think they're the perfect mix of cushioning and snappiness. I like them for long runs, workouts, and easy runs--honestly, everything but races (when I'll use something with a carbon plate). For the price, and considering the fact that I'm getting over 400 miles out of a pair, this is kinda the perfect shoe. Highly recommend!!

Toebox is too narrow; forefoot has no space to breathe
22 May 2023

These shoes have very little cushion, and the toebox is quite narrow, making the forefoot squished. It becomes especially apparent after 6 miles, when the feet are hot and sweaty and that's when the discomfort of the shoe really takes the pain up a notch. They look amazing, but that hardly matters when your feet are burning. Do not recommend. I switched to Brooks Glycerin 20, and they are pretty awesome so far--my first shoe other than Hoka in 2 years and I'm loving it. Glycerin is the perfect mix of cushion, and breathability on the top.

squeaky!!

So here’s the thing. These are beautiful, comfortable, durable shoes. I tried on several pairs to find the right ones for my feet and these are it. Now here’s the thing - I got them for work as I’m a nurse and work 12 hr nights and I’m on my feet a lot. And while they’ve been incredibly comfortable for the past year, they are so SQUEAKY. I thought I maybe had to break them in but I’ve had them over a year now and no matter how clean or dirty they are, I be walking down the hall sounding like freaking squidward!! And I’m often trying to quietly sneak into patients room - yea that doesn’t work. I’ve delt with the squeak over a year now bc they really are great comfortable shoes. I’d repurchase the same ones but I can’t do the squeak anymore. Long story short - I ... MoreSo here’s the thing. These are beautiful, comfortable, durable shoes.
