This is my first Hoka purchase. It was recommended to me by others who where Hoka's and know that I am an avid sneaker collector. I did find my shoe size and width to be on point with the Hoka's I purchased. I was very familiar and not surprised the overall lightness of the shoes considering many running shoes are very light.I am very familiar with other brands such as On, Nike, Adidas - for running. I still, to this day, believe On Clouds to be superior than Hoka shoes. It is my honest opinion. I did favor Adidas for awhile, and then I wore On Cloud shoes (many different types). I was hoping Hoka's would find that sweet spot On's did, but this pair didn't do it for me. I think Hoka shoes are a great pair at a price under $100, while other brands on the market are ... MoreThis is my first Hoka purchase. I generally prefer trails over asphalt, but I decided to attempt a road marathon later this year, so I've been searching for a road shoe comparable to the Speedgoats. I'm 33 miles in and no issues to report. I ran 6 miles right out of the box and my feet felt amazing afterwards.I decided to go a half size bigger on these based a few other reviews and I'm glad I did. I suspect these would have felt narrow had I gone with my typical shoe size. I was a little worried they would end up feeling too big, but they've provided a perfect balance (at least for me) of cushion and stability. There is plenty of room for my toes, yet I haven't experienced any slippage on the heel. No blistering or hotspots to speak of. I'm also impressed with how well these shoes seem to grip ... MoreI generally prefer trails over asphalt, but I decided to attempt a road marathon later this year, so I've been searching for a road shoe comparable to the Speedgoats. They're also remarkably lightweight.I can't yet speak to longevity, but so far I'm really enjoying these shoes and expect them to serve me well during my upcoming training/races. And they look great too!

50 mile review: This shoe is very light, and it's noticeable on longer runs. Heavier daily run shoes start to feel like they are holding you back, but it's easy to keep good running mechanics on longer runs with the Rincon 3. Officially, the shoe has a 5 mm drop. However, there is a large cavity carved into the midsole under the heel of the shoe. This "hole" in the foam in the back of the shoe effectively causes the heel to sink lower than the forefoot, which effectively reduces the drop when you are actually running to something closer to 2 or 0 mm. If you are a mid-foot striker, this is not noticeable. If you are a heel striker, then you are definitely going to feel like you are running in a shoe with a lower drop than 5 mm. The outsole is wearing away pretty ... More50 mile review: This shoe is very light, and it's noticeable on longer runs. The outsole is wearing away pretty quickly, and the shoe has definitely softened over 50 miles. I think the shoe will be dead around 200 miles. I think it is a great race shoe for someone who needs the forefoot cushion, and for someone who doesn't care about having a plate.
I've been using Cliftons for the last 3 years and now that Rincons are available in wide, I might have to make this my new go to shoe. It took about a week to break these in. It was pretty painful to walk in at first. Then after an 8 mile run I'm convinced I'm going to use these for my first full marathon. This shoe is stiffer than I thought. I thought it would be more plush like the Clifton. It was just the right combination between a Clifton and the Mach for me. I love the thin tongue and it is much lighter than I thought. I am a flat footed wide, a true wide but more so in the midfoot region and not the toe box and these shoes fit just right for me. Lot of questions on the durability but with that price, I have no complaints so far. Absolutely love the colors.
I am 5'10", 170lb neutral runner who puts in 50-150 miles per month depending on the season (I live in Central Texas - summer running is lethal) and ambition (maintenance vs race training). I ran through 3 pairs of the original Rincon and 2 pairs of the Rincon 2s. I currently have 3 pairs of the the Rincon 3's and they are THE BEST OVERALL version of the shoe. The original Rincons were amazingly comfortable for 150 miles or so. They didn't dramatically change the outsole or midsole for the Rincon 2s but I found the upper/breathability, tongue and lockdown of the Rincon 2 to be an upgrade over the originals but the durability issues persisted (MAYBE a little closer to 200 with the midsole - they seemed to last a little longer). However, the changes they made to the outsole (increased durability in the heel and forefoot area) and the midsole (seems slightly stiffer but in a good way - looking to get 300 or so out of the Rincon 3s) while DECREASING weight is a game changer. Some have pointed to the changes in the tongue but even during my longer runs to this point (6-10 miles) they have not seemed to cause any problems (shifted, rubbed, etc). They remain super breathable and the outsole seems to be more durable and "grippy". I am incredibly happy with these shoes and hope that HOKA doesn't overthink this shoe to much (like they did with the Speedgoat and others) or overprice it. At the current price, I am not sure there is a better ROI on the market, regardless of brand.
I bought these shoes on strong recommendation from the running shop. All my prior shoes were more on the minimal to moderate cushion range. The running shop was hyping these higher cushion shoes, and Hoka specifically. Unfortunately, I only managed to get 4 runs total in these shoes before causing significant pain in my forefoot. I found the shoe had poor stability and tends to compress too much on the edges. The upper mesh also allows the foot to slide while this edge compression occurs. In my case my interior midfoot would slide and lose support. These shoes were very disappointing!
I bought an open box pair or HOKA RINCON 3 tennis shoes. I bought these for casual day to day wear at work etc. I went to my local HOKA store in Venice Beach to try on a new pair and after trying on several different styles just by total luck the RINCON 3 fit the best. It's like slipping your foot into a perfectly worn shoe the first time I slip these on. I have zero break in period and I am very active so I literally wear them out. I'm on my 4th pair of them now! Since there always has to be a complaint, I will say for ME the all white with black accents is Not the right color shoe. I cannot keep them clean. I tried but I am literally wearing them to do all activities and they got dirty. My favorite are the black with white accents. Rincon 3 is a definite improvement over Rincon 2 which did not have a removable insert. I prefer to use Superfeet insoles most of the time in workouts so the Rincon 3 remedied this for me. I use the these for faster workouts like tempo runs, long and short intervals. They are somewhat lighter than the other Hoka shoes so they are definitely suited to faster workouts. They have the max cushioning level I need when on harder surfaces as I have developed osteoarthritis in my R. Knee. So they can be used on long runs without a problem. I just prefer the slighly heavier Arahi 6 for long runs. I've found that all the Hoka shoes with max level cushioning allow me to still do challenging workouts with no need to take aspirin or ibuprofen after running. My feet have experienced corns, callouses, bunions, plantar fasciitis, and years of squeezing into shoes/sneakers that were too small. I initially saw the HOKA sneakers advertised in the "Experience Life" magazine then, I saw my eye doctor and the nurses in the office wearing HOKA sneakers. They looked so comfortable that I decided to try a pair. I was surprised that my size was available. I purchased a pair of Rincon sneakers. In all my years as an athlete and an educator, I have never been so pleased with a pair of shoes/sneakers. The comfort of the Rincon sneaker is unbelievable. Walking and working out in my sneakers is a dream come true.HOKA where have you been all my life? Thank you so much. I just purchased two more pair.
