Beautifully made shoe

This is a very expensive shoe for me. In order for it to be worth the money to me it has to meet very high standards of material and workmanship. I just received it today and have not yet hiked in it, but I can say that the workmanship is impeccable. The eyelets are metal framed and the hooks are metal. The stitching is even. This is a beautifully made shoe. Trying on at home the shoe is comfortable and feels very serious. This is the shoe you would want in a zombie apocalypse. Over the next few days I will wear around the house and try to find fault with it. Thus far I am afraid that I have fallen in love and will not be returning the shoe for my hard-earned money back. If it can transport me to beautiful natural spaces this pair of shoes will stay in my life.

It's probably only because I had the original Tors. I wore them out. Wore them every day through long winters and deep into summer as well in the mountains... loved the cushion and build quality. The newer models since are noticeably less cushioned and lesser in build quality. Without the original pair to compare, the new ones would get another star. They have decent support and cush, but for the price there are better out there and arguably even in their own lineup. They do run a tad bigger as well. I for one like the more muted colors compared to my Burger King originals...but I'd still reach for the first Tors every day of the week. This is a case where things went the wrong direction.. not sure if it's just for cost savings in materials or what.

First time Hoka purchase!

I purchased these because I have weak ankles that are prone to rolling. They definitely provide the extra support I need!No way my ankles will roll in these boots. As for size, I have a wide short foot and was not sure if these were going fit because they don't come in wide. Started out with 6.5/7.5 without using the size guide as my other women's hiking boots were 7.5 regular width. Had to send them back as they were way to big in length. Decided to try using both options of the sizing guide. (should have done it the first time) Comparing my regular wide women size 6 to 6.5 with the different brands I wear it put me at 4/5 for this boot. Then I tried the other option of measuring my foot on paper and it put me at 5.5/6.5 which is what I eventually went with. ... MoreI purchased these because I have weak ankles that are prone to rolling. Though they felt a little snug at first, after three days of wearing around the house they loosend up nicely. Would definitely recommend using the paper measuring guide for wider feet as it provides a truer guide vs comparing the other brands guide.I must say the original insert that comes with this boot is on the thin side but after adding my very cushy half orthodics I now feel like I'm 'bouncing' on air. Love this boot!

Incredible boots; worth the hype
10 November 2022

Purchased first from hoka.com on drop day only to have FedEx "lose" the package. As popular as the Tors are (and sell higher in resale) I am 100% convinced they were stolen. FedEx tells me the label was "damaged" and could no longer be scanned. Sure sure. Thankfully Hoka refunded me regardless for the undelivered package and I was able to purchase these from Kith instead.Boots themselves are incredible + comfortable from the start. This colorway is a beautiful subtle mix of greens with the leather portion sometimes reading brown in different light. Went up half a size to stay comfy with thicker socks and that ended up being a good choice.Suggestion for Hoka: consider using unassuming clear tape rather than the white "Deckers Brands" tape to make the boxes a ... MorePurchased first from hoka.com on drop day only to have FedEx "lose" the package. My 3rd pair of Tor Ultra Hi hiking boots.
20 March 2023

I love the Tor Ultra hi hiking boots. These are the most comfortable hiking boots I have ever owned. This is my 3rd pair, I was so glad to see them back in stock to order. It is like walking on clouds when I am out hiking with these boots, and being a little higher they give me the ankle support I need. I have inherited problem feet and these hiking boots have been the answer to my foot problems. My only suggestion is the light colored (white, etc) boots are not practical for people who actually hike, as they quickly look awful after a few times out. I use these boots for hiking and backpacking.

Never stop making these!
19 April 2023

We all have different feet but this shoe is perfect for me. Tho plush, I feel completely stable side to side and front to back. The toecap and suede panels are protective without being bulky or too stiff. And GoreTex is GoreTex. They are not only my hikers but my work shoe as well ( I'm a carpenter) and have a pair of the low model as well. My only wish would be for the tongues to be a little longer. Occasionally my lace knots will work it's way over the top edge of the tongue and go behind it, making for some discomfort. Alternative lacing helped but I would still prefer a bit longer tongue. Won't stop me from buying again tho.

Nice supportive boot
12 April 2023

I purchased these as a backpacking/hiking boot. Many reviewers were very positive and commented how wonderful these were. I wasn't blown away as they seemed to be. I have been wearing Sky Kahas for a few years and thought these might be better but found them to be very similar in how they felt with regards to plushness and support. Similar enough where I wouldn't wear one over the other. I havent backpacked in them yet and still feel like I am breaking them in but first impressions are meh..... I normally wear a size 9-9.5 in athletic shoes and got these in a 9.5 and they fit well. The fit is roomy as the KAHAs are but that allows for a good hiking sock. I do like the higher ankle support than the KAHAs but have not tried them with my 40lb pack on tricky terrain yet ... MoreI purchased these as a backpacking/hiking boot. Overall a cute, nice supportive boot but not much plusher or supportive than the KAHAs.

Quality has gone down since the Original Tor Ultra Hi
4 August 2023

I bought the original Tor Ultra Hi back in 2018 and LOVED those boots, LOVED THEM. I hiked many many miles in a wide variety of terrain and climates. They were the most comfortable hikers ever. Finally bought new ones this year. The new ones are ok....nowhere near as comfortable as the original. There is a stark difference between the two. I am also very suspicious that they are not as waterproofed as the originals. The OG's, I could wade in water up until the very top and my feet would stay dry. Not with the new ones. It's a bummer that the original bright colors were never brought back either. These boots are very muted, especially once you start hiking and they get dusty. Bring back the bright colors Hoka! Tor Ultra Hi review
24 April 2023

I started buying Tor Ultra Hi hiking boots when they first came out. Then I switched to Kahas when I no longer could get the Ultra Hi boot. This year, I found Ulra Hi boots again so bought a pair. Now that I've been wearing the Kaha boot, I like the Kaha better in terms of width for the foot. The Ultra Hi is very narrow, much narrower than the Kaha so now I'm trying to find the right sock for hiking this year that will fit. I like the higher ankle support and the soles are pretty similar. In general, I love Hokas and wear them for everything - work, hiking, walking. Would wear Hoka ski boots if you made them! However, since I first started buying them years ago, the soles did not hold up relative to shoes in the same upper price ranges. And they still do not. Thank goodness I have the income to afford a new pair of Hokas for hiking every year as they are worn down to no treads by the end of the hiking season, something boots that cost $170 to $250 from other brands don't do. The fabric does hold up and is very comfortable.

please go back to gender specific
26 July 2023

I'm a huge fan of Hoka and own 5 pair of the previous gender specific Tor Ultras for women. I do not care for the wider gender neutral tor ultra hi. They are also stiffer at the top of the ankle boot and I prefer a more tailored boot that I can choose narrow and neutral. NOT this in between gender neutral stuff so Hoka can save money. A "C" width and saying they can be neutral or stable ?? I'm not sure if I can trust these on a long thru hike. They are also heavier than my previous female specific Tor Ultra. I waited so long to snag a pair of these and disappointed that they changed a shoe they could not keep on the shelves. Fixed a boot that wasn't broken. There's a lot of slippage now and they are more loose. I can't find out because no sooner than you order these (if you can catch them) they no longer have anymore that you can exchange and try out.
