I hate panning and returning these shoes. They meet the normal high quality construction we expect from Hoka. I currently have 6 pair of Hoka shoes and love them all. From the photos and description I thought they would fall somewhere between the Rincon and Challenger shoes that I have in my inventory. They fit similar to the Rincon but the material is not as resilient to allow enough lateral stretch to be comfortable. The different material used in the soles of the shoes is stiffer and puts pressure on both the instep of my arch and the outside ball of my feet. No matter how much I loosened the elastic laces it still felt like it was too tight. Given the other fit issues I did not want to destroy the elastic laces and try the included standard laces. I think part of that is the material used for the uppers.I hate having to buy and return items like this, but we live in a fairly small city and while the local running store and one shoe store stock Hoka, the seldom have my size in stock. That leaves the only option to order what I want and is not locally stocked and hope for the best. Regardless of the shoe line or style it seems nearly impossible to fine something for my big feet in stock.I would definitely recommend these to friends but hope that they would be available in their size so they can determine if they are a good fit before they walk out of the store.

This is my first HOKA shoe outside of the Clifton line-up so I am mostly comparing the sizing/fit to those. At first try, the shoe is easy to put on and lace. I opted to keep the quick-cinch laces and love them. The mid foot region and toe-box is quite narrow compared to my Cliftons of the same shoe size so hopefully they wear in with continued use (~2.5 weeks in, still tight). I mainly got these because they are water-resistant and my walking commute to the hospital can be wet and rainy as well as never knowing what fluid can get on my shoes in the hospital. The shoe is firm, but comfortable with all day use. I am on my feet all day and have not had issues with foot pain as some other reviewers say. The shoes are quick and responsive. The grip is ideal in the hospital. However, since they are water-resistant, my feet get quite hot and sweat to the point that the insole develops a loud squeak with each step towards the end of each day. This only occurs after several hours of wearing them but is quite annoying and almost embarrassing. I tried sprinkling powder under the insole as HOKA suggests, but this is only a temporary fix (1-2 days). I absolutely love the shoe for its look and function, but gave it 3 stars due to the narrow toe-box (-1) and the loud, embarrassing squeak at the end of the day (-1). This might be a product/material failure. I will keep the shoe despite everyone hearing me walking from a mile away at the end of each day. Hopefully HOKA an fix this issue in future models.

I got the Transport mainly for my job as a nurse, but I find myself wearing it for errands and as an everyday shoe as well. The cushioning is similar to the Clifton with perhaps a bit more give/plush. My feet normally hurt after a shift, even in my older hokas that were worn out, but the Transport has reduced the post-work pain in my plantar-fasciitis-embattled feet. I got the white all-gender model. The white does unfortunately attract some dirt. Some parts of it are easy to clean with a wipe, but the cordura fabric seems to want to hang on to it. They still look sharp though! It is just wide enough for me, but still on the narrow side. When they come out with wides in these I'll be getting another pair in a darker color!

I was very excited for the release of this shoe. I have always wanted Hoka to create a shoe that looked great and can perform both in city and on the trail. I have always used my Speedgoats for that purpose, but they always looked too aggressive for some occasions and I would wear them out quickly. The Transport seemed to check all of the boxes in the way of style, sustainability, materials, and purpose, but came up short on my first 7 mile city walk. They are said to be Neutral/Balanced which is the same as the Speedgoat, but do not feel anywhere close to the same amount of cushion. I did not find the Transport to have the signature Hoka cushion that we all know and love at all. Instead, they literally hurt my feet. There is something in the midsole right in front ... I did not find the Transport to have the signature Hoka cushion that we all know and love at all. Instead, they literally hurt my feet. There is something in the midsole right in front of heel and in between the arch that felt like a lump on every step to the point that my left foot felt bruised for a couple of days after. On top of that, my sweat left weird splotchy stains on the Cordura fabric. I wear thin merino socks and don't have overly sweaty feet, so I would say this is a material fail. Unfortunately, I had to return them and will probably just buy another pair of Speedgoats for my adventure travel. Hopefully the Transport will work for other people or get better over time.
I've had Hokas and clouds for the last year and also heel pain due to the extensive walking I do. It started to effect my lower back too. I saw these release and decided to try them. They have an actual hard tread bottom unlike most of the soft foam hokas so they haven't show any wear in the three weeks I've had them. They aren't a cusuhioned a Bondi but I like it better. They have cushion but it's not super squishy like some other models but I don't feel like I need it to not have heel pain. I can walk 12 mile days in these and stand at work with little to no pain for hours. I love the style and will be buying another pair. My only criticism are: 1 the color in the picture is not accurate. They look more bright then they are. They are way more olive in color and ... It has the lace cinch which is fine but also comes with regular laces I just can't figure out how to switch them. I wish they would be released in more fun colors.
Used this shoe for a two week trip which involved a lot of airports and train stations, averaged about 8 miles a day on foot. I wasn't sure about the lace system but am happy with it after getting used to them, but with that said regular laces are included if the bungee cord thing isn't your style. My only other worry was breathability which I'm sad to say really doesn't exist in this shoe (hence the 4 stars) - as they aren't really water resistant this is an unfortunate down side.Other comments - I got these in grey, the darker color in the heel is more grey than blue as it looks in the pictures on the website. The lighter grey at the front of the shoe gets dirty easily and it shows. The soles are vibram brand, I'm really happy with the grip and the level of wear ... The pros:Great cushion that has tremendously helped relieve plantar fasciiatis pain while still walking 10k-17k steps per day (Monday-Friday).The upper material build quality is super tough and durable. The cons:I walk on a desk walking pad treadmill while I work from home and the rubber from the soles immediate started to rub off. I have black rubber dust particles on my treadmill and on my floor that I sweep up every day after walking. The upper material is so tough and durable that it's actually caused a bit of discomfort on the top part of my toes. I'm about two or three weeks into owning these and have walked at least 60 miles in them so far.Cushy but surprised the sole is already wearing away and the upper material cordura I think it's called is causing ... I love the all black hoka shoes, I own a few pairs of the speedgoat 5 shoes and other shoes, and I'm converted. I was looking for the same speedgoat 5 shoes in all black, which they don't have, only the GTX version. I don't need GTX, so I just ordered this pair thinking they would work for every day walking, business, work, etc., but I was in them for a few hours, and they are way too hot. I had to change back to my hokas that weren't hot. They were not GTX version. The fit was not great, but the other hoka shoes I wear fit much more comfortably. These don't feel comfortable like my others. I hope they get a speedgoat 5 in all black that is NON GTX, low-top like my other shoes. Others it appears have good experience here, so if it's comfortable for you, go for it. I ... I've tried the 3 color ways of the Transport shoe and for me having the contrasting white sole was the better look. While I can see the black on black being a choice for the travel world, the all gray seemed to old for my taste. If the black had a white sole it would have been a done deal. I settled on the All Gender model (having the gum accent color was a nice touch). Looking forward to seeing if the contrasting sole shows up in the future. These make great everyday shoes. I love the color of my other Hoka (trail, hiking, running shoes/boots) and like the more sedate options which the Transport brings. Shoes a great in comfort -the squeaking does go away after a slight break-in period. Bravo to the folks at Hoka.
I don't wear formal shoes anymore due to a previous bout with plantar fasciitis. I exclusively wear Hoka's with everything, including suits, tuxedos, slacks, and casual wear. I bought these Hoka's because I thought they would be comfortable and a great match with my business casual wear. They have not disappointed. First, they are typical of the exceptional ride one gets from a Hoka creation. I feel like I am walking on a bed of Tempur-Pedic mattresses, with support where it's needed most. The look of the shoe is equally exceptional, blending very well with my business casual attire. They are both stylish and comfortable. I would highly recommend these shoes for all.
