I never heard of "recovery shoes" until the development of a bakers cyst and subsequent plantar fasciitis. I spent over $1000 on several pairs with nothing providing much relief. Research suggested I give this podiatrist recommended shoe a try. What's another $200 when you're battling chronic pain?I'll be honest, the Bondi SR seemed uncomfortably stiff when I first tried on and heavier than my favourite running shoe brands. However I persevered. After one day's wear (included one 20 minute walk, two 40 minute walks) I felt much less pain in my heel and knees than I usually do. After removing them and in stocking feet, I continued to feel significantly less pain than usual. The only negative is that it's less foot forming than my usual brands. I miss that level of ... Also I prefer a longer tongue and the Bondi tongue is so short it's almost invisible! But the Bondi does what it promises and greatly reduces pain. Once my feet got used to it's different feel, they acclimated.I like kicks with a lot of get up and go. I can't get the speed I usually achieve while wearing the Bondi. But I shouldn't be trying to. With this shoe, my feet can heal and hopefully I will return to my regular shoes when I am able to push myself harder.Wish this was the shoe I purchased first off but I still like the others and as my condition improves, I'm confident I'll enjoy them again. If I haven't become a permanent Hoka fan by then.

I am always trying to find that perfect work shoe that is comfortable after standing for 10hrs at a time, slip resistant (because safety and sure footing in a wet or sometime slick floor environment is important) and durable after months of daily wear. I had started wearing my HOKA Bondi 7s at work, but they are not slip resistant and are made for running not standing, so there were some concerns. And he has really seen a difference in how he feels at the end of the day, which is priceless! THANK YOU HOKA!! PLEASE CONTINUE TO MAKE THIS SR SHOE!!!

I use it for walking and every day. I want to say one thing. I bought a pair of Hoka's in a mall because my feet were killing me, literally. I bought a pair of Cliftons, Light blue with a yellow sole. As soon as I put my foot in them I felt like I was stepping on a cloud and that cloud lasted for a time and then as I wore them the arch came up. I had been dx'd with plantar fasciitis and the shoes I had were painful to wear. I mean painful. So time for new Hoka's and I bought this pair along with the Cliftons. I returned the Cliftons, but what I noticed was that ahhh feeling of padding when I stepped into both of the shoes was not there. So, just a comment. It just wasn't the same from the first ones I bought, which totally made me a believer in you. Jury is out because there is competition out there, of whether I would buy from Hoka again or not. I do say, I totally fell in love with my first pair. I didn't feel the same love with the last two I ordered.

OK, mine may not be an unusual story, however, I feel you all need to know what a difference my Hoka's have made. (I purchased the Solimar Style, Size 11.5). Bar none THE most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. And, I used to be an avid runner. but had to give it up due to arthritis and deterioration. This was such a blessing as I knew that knee surgery takes the better part of a year to recuperate.I'm 68 years old, very active and I'm back to walking 3 miles a day. I wear them everyday and even though I know one day I will eventually have to have knee replacement, my Hoka's have helped me and they are THE only shoes I will ever buy. Thank you and God Bless you for making such an amazing product. Michael Peter, Charleston, SC
I loved everything about the design of the shoe except the arch support and the non-breathable material.I have very flat feet, to the point I wear Convers as my normal shoe, and this product has some very aggressive arch support. I wore them for three days straight, and by the end the tongue of the right shoe gave me a bruise on the outer ankle, both ankles were slowly swelling, and I had whelts from the aforementioned agressive arch support. I could feel the lip of the sole in each step, slowly rubbing my arch raw after hours of use. By feet were swollen to what felt like the size of large potatoes, and I struggled to walk even after removing the shoes from the pain they caused for the rest of the night. The second issue I had was in the breathability, or lack of ... While I had space to move my toes inside, I had no way to reliably air the shoes while using them without removing them entierly and allowing them time to breathe, which is not conducive to a proper work enviornment that requires you to be on your feet the whole time. Each night I had to put the shoes outside for a constant dose of fresh air.I love the design of the shoe for its lightweight spacious design that uses durrable matertals, but I cannot wear these shoes for fear of causing serious damage to my feet. I implore the other people who find this brand to try it out for yourselves, but if you have flat feet and need a non-slip shoe, this is NOT the design for you.
These shoes are soooo cute and overall a great shoe. Originally I had a pair of the Bondi 7 (Wide) and ran my first half marathon in them and absolutely ADORE those shoes. I am sad that they no longer make that exact model (it is now the Bondi 8).These shoes are unfortunately a lot stiffer than the Bondi 7 model, and therefore a bit uncomfortable to run in. Once I fully laced them up to go for a run, the tongue of the shoe under my laces rubbed on my foot around my inner ankle. Even when I'd adjusted I still felt that the entirety of my run (4.8 miles) in addition to a bit of heel pain. Could just be that they're not right for my foot! But they're definitely stiffer than their other models designed specifically for running. I walk my dog 5+ miles a day and felt the ... MoreThese shoes are soooo cute and overall a great shoe. Maybe someone with a lower arch.
Comparing to my two old pairs of Bondi 6 shoes, which were quite comfortable out of the box but not well suited for keeping my feet dry on rainy days -- and I did think the various reflective bits were a plus for those models. Good choice for my plantar fasciitis but the rebound in the soles of the 6s has faded, so I chose the Bondi SR for the water resistance of the leather uppers. A little snug across the instep: I put this down to maybe not having the laces "tuned in" just yet but mostly to the shoe having leather uppers. I expect the leather will stretch and soften the little bit needed to conform and fit as I wear them a bit more, much like OG-style office wear used to do. Heel cup is stiffer than the 6, so I use a shoe horn to put them on, not an issue once on ... Heel cup is stiffer than the 6, so I use a shoe horn to put them on, not an issue once on the foot; I also expect this will ease with more wear. Haven't applied leather polish yet, so don't yet know how well this leather will take the polish. And, wouldn't you know it, a dry year, so no test of the water resistance just yet. No reflective bits on this model, maybe something to consider for overcast conditions, but that can be addressed with other choices in clothing, too. They squeaked on the hardwood floor when I first tried them on (but no marks), and my wife was in ear-shot; she's not a fan, so I don't wear these in the house.
I bought this Bondi SR for my wife who works as a phlebotomist that stands & walk around much of her work hours. Bondi SR is perfect as she needs a leather top as required to protect her feet from accidental needle drops and the known cushion feel of the Bondi series.BUT when she puts them on the 1st time, she immediately felt the Top inner tongue edge is piercing hard against the sides her inner ankle bone. It could very well be that it's about her foot bone anatomy that she suffers this very uncomfortable issue but I am not a foot expert. She has to put heavy band aid to test it at home while she work around the kitchen. She has to loosen the tie a lot to a point that her heels moves up and down a little while she walks. Good thing is that there's nice foam around the edges that made it comfy still. It may eventually break in as shoe is a leather but not sure. The other issue but could just be false expectation is how much cloud plush they should feel. I am a new runner and tried both Bondi 8 & 7 but bought the 7 from a local store as they have a returned new pair on clearance that I couldn't resist, although I prefer the 8 for its softer feel. Anyways, I described her the plushness I felt on the 8 and thought the SR will be the same. Her description of the softness isn't up to her expectations softness level as she compares it to my son's Nike (don't the model) pair that he uses as an RN. The Nike was softer but noticeably not as thick a feel as she can feel the floor but not on SR. She also tried my Bondi 7 and she says her SR is just slightly softer but also noticeably thicker. I find 8 much softer than 7 but YMMV. Wife is petit and weighs only 115 lbs., hence maybe that was a factor too but not sure. Don't get me wrong here as she likes the black SR for the looks, angle of midsole to the top feels great that matches her strides, thick sole feel but not too high, relatively soft although she was expecting more but nevertheless acceptable enough.

My feet don't hurt at the end of my workouts. They are very comfy! Using the stair stepper and/or treadmill at the gym is so much easier on my feet. One thing that you may need to get used to is that these shoes enable you roll from your heel to your toes - most of us don't do that in our daily walking with shoes on so don't be surprised - we should be walking that way and do when we are barefoot. The traction on these are wonderful! With my old shoes it took my feet time to decompress after the gym. That is not the case with the Hoka shoes. The shoelaces are a tad meager and I find myself having to retire my laces as they come undone. In the grand scheme of how great these shoes are that is a minor inconvenience for me. However, that may be an issue for someone else.I purchased the all black shoe and they are perfect for an afternoon of shopping. I mostly wear all black so this style was perfect for me. Thank you to Hoka for making an all black shoe. It's a lot more shoe than I thought it would be. For some that might be a negative thing. However, I like it. Your feet are enveloped in this comfy, cozy shoe. If you are on your feet all day or your current sneakers are hurting your feet then please consider purchasing these!
